I’m a huge royalist me and no one cares if I get the dates right or not. It will be the 73rd Anniversary of the death of king George IV in February and the anniversary of when I got ill. I was hospitalised on the 71st anniversary and I still have my photo of me and Woody.EXE in hospital on the anniversary. He cries every time he looks at it because of the tough 4 weeks i went through. 2 years on since then and I’m continuing to do well even having my mental breakdowns still but Woody.EXE continues to be at my side 24/7.
And I become Queen at 20, I’m apparently the youngest to become Queen since Victoria reigned at 18. This was Woody.EXE’s request and i approved it just 47 hours before his accession announcement made official for wales. I’ll always remember a large crowd getting hyped as hell, it was the same 24 hours before Woody.EXE and I had the coronation on my 21st birthday in July 2023. Wales has changed a lot since the Queen died and we both are still reigning on almost 2 years later
@AlgerianGuy-xf9lp Thanks, it’s almost 3 years now since I’ve become Queen and I’m sure Queen Elizabeth would have been proud of Woody.EXE now knowing she wrote to him 4 days before she passed
As King Charles III release his royal cypher, the Coat of Arms has changed, St. Edward's Crown changed into Tudor Crown, because Tudor Crown is symbols Masculinity, and St. Edward's Crown symbols Femininity, the difference is in the arches
Incorrect. It is certainly commonly perceived in that way in modern times but many people do forget that the image of the Crown was only first stabdardised in 1901 after the death of Queen-Empress Victoria. Under her successor (King-Emperor Edward VII) law had estabilished for the first time how the crown was meant to be drawn and depicted. Images of the crown before 1901 are assumed to be images of Saint Edwards Crown where the arches are depressed, however that is also untrue. They are in fact depictions of the State crowns of previous monarchs. For example, the crown as shown from George 1 to at least Victoria were most likely to be depictions of the Imperial State Crown of George 1. Note that that crown is different to the present Imperial State Crown, whose design was made for Queen-Empress Victoria. Indeed, after 1877 at least, the crown had been primarily depicted with full arches instead of depressed arches. Such a design was kept after she died, was standardised and termed the 'Tudor' crown for its similarities to the physical Tudor crown created for Henry VIII. The image changed with Queen Elizabeth II due to personal preference and as such, after her death, it has been reverted back to its proper form. Another feature of the coat of arms to had been change with her accession was the depiction of The Harp in the third quartering of the shield. Traditionally it is depicted in Angelic form, however Elizabeth II had changed the design to a Celtic Harp due to personal preference. This is one detail that has not been reverted to its proper form on the coat of arms, possibly as a nod to the former Queen.

An excellent presentation of different settings of God Save the King/Queen. But the version you play for Queen Elizabeth is surely Elgar's setting, while the version you give for King Charles is the one for Queen Elizabeth's coronation, with the opening fanfare by Gordon Jacobs (and used for that of King Charles).
God save the king. Still missing the queen! As an American i love the history of the united kingdom and great Britain. Ive studied so much on my own time. I even perfected this national anthem on piano and organ months befote the Queen passed
Only 5 Queens have risen to be timeless. Four live in a deck a cards. I had the privilege and honour to meet your late Queen Elizabeth II multiple times and it baffles me how some modern Britons criticise her legacy. Very sad. We lost our king and we regret it. Unfortunately one comes to understand the worth of monarchy only when it's lost ...
I met King Charles 4 days before his mother’s funeral and I had to be lifted over the barriers to see him properly. He spent 5 minutes talking to me about how much I loved his mum so he gave me something of hers and I still have it now. Even Queen Camilla had nerve to talk with me for a bit but not as long as King Charles did but she was still really nice nevertheless. Charles even hugged me before setting off and he’s normally not supposed to but he did anyway and I was lifted back over the barriers by him. The best day of my life I’ll never forget
@TheMrpeejoe That was in 1888 I believe, the year of Jack the Ripper and the murders that took place in London at the time. I learned this in high school and it was really good and I felt sorry for the victims at the time and no one sympathised with me. The school I was in were careless about my emotions and they now know why I bonded with these tragic events. I even have drawings of Queen Mary Ist (1516 - 1558) and Queen Elizabeth I (1533 - 1603). Me, Come and See (1985)’s Flyora and Woody.EXE are up on my wall too next to my favourite Queens; I believed Woody.EXE would have gotten on so well with Mary and so would’ve I.
You showed VICTORIOUS Kings and Queens. Our anthem - born in the Seven Years War - inspired us to victory over our enemies, Louis IV, Napoleon, Kaiser Willem and Hitler. But in 2020 WE WERE DEFEATED, not by an external enemy, but by an INTERNAL ONE. Our Nation and its peoples suffered a worse defeat than at any time in our History - WE NEED A NEW ANTHEM.

This lyrics to this song were originally written by the Italian-French composer Jean-Baptiste Lully in 1686 for King Louis XIV, as "Grand Dieu Sauve le Roi." Louis XIV is the world's longest-reigning monarch, with Elizabeth II coming in at second place. It is fitting that the most well-known monarchist song has been used for the longest-reigning king as well as the longest-reigning queen.

@@gillesblanchard1699 Handel was in England when he wrote this song for George II, in celebration of his victory over Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745. He may have stolen the ideas for God Save the King from Lully, but Lully's music was based on the composer John Bull, who composed the instrumental version during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. While the date of the music is unknown, it is likely that Bull wrote it in 1588, after the victory over the Spanish Armada.

As an American I'm not a big fan of King George III 😅 However, I respect the British monarchy in general, especially Queen Elizabeth II. She was a nice lady :)
When I was young I learnt all three verses, it was sometimes used, about half the time. I don’t remember if we sang the second verse because it was still the standard or if we were still in that phase of patriotism from the Falklands and gulf war.
No it's not. Both verses are sung on large state occasions (I've heard both verses more in the last year than I have in my entire 43 years), and they're both sometimes sung at Remembrance services in November each year. Usually only when the monarch is in attendance though.
Oh crikey! I've only just heard the 2nd verse for the late Queen in this video. No that's almost never sung ever in public! Not something that's routinely taught and it would only be for a specific recording for posterity! (I note the video has also managed to avoid some of the very problematic verses which involve invoking God to crush other parts of the UK which would obviously not go down well).
@@rhimccrorie6578 I agree - I've heard the "Thy Choicest Gifts In Store" verse at major occasions but never the "Oh Lord Our God Arise" verse. I thought that was considered too belligerent for modern times.
@@yvonnestrong3856 I agree and disagree, the 'O Lord, our god arise' part is only sung during Wartime, which may or may not happen at any moment since the powers that be could quite possibly declare war at any given time as is their right. I can't think any reason of doing so as of yet so who knows. I'd personally put emphasis on the goddess Britannia as a metaphor for everyone represented through parliament rather than a religious god but that's just my personal opinion ahaha😅.

Yes, and I am still puzzled if when King Edward VII and King George V had it played it three times when they had summit meetings with Kaiser Wilhelm II of Prussia and Kaiser Franz- Joseph of Austro-Hungary whose anthem it also was, not to mention Czar Nicholas II!
I always sing it proudly during Remembrance Sunday services in November and this is how those who died in the war should be respected. It hurts singing God save the king knowing that Charles isn’t well but me and Woody.EXE continues to wish Charles well during these difficult times

God save the queen
This first one sounds slightly different to what we sing today, unless is because a choir singing it.
That’s because it had different lyrics when it was written, primarily used as an anthem for American loyalists at the time
@@TheMrpeejoe He means the tune is slightly different to now

Art in every form played a huge role in the empire of Britain. They may be a small island but their music and aesthetic slay every time.
I guess the words had to be changed when the first non-George ascended to the throne.

The best day of my life I’ll never forget
congrats on 1k
Thank you!

That was in 1888 I believe, the year of Jack the Ripper and the murders that took place in London at the time.

Our Nation and its peoples suffered a worse defeat than at any time in our History - WE NEED A NEW ANTHEM.

it's just amazing to think Elizabeth reigned longer than all the other kings on this list put together! She truly was amazing.
Rest and peace yall in heaven everything in britain changes
Well, nice video! But where's the actual Queen version of this? Brian and Roger need to rock the anthem.
Great video, but why did you remove the Hanoverian coat of arms fr William IV. He was very much a part of the house of Hannover
Mistake on my part, was using the coat of arms for Great Britain and the United Kingdom alongside and for the United Kingdom I made Victoria’s before Williams, and used the Victorian arms in mistake
The British Monarchy is a national treasure adored and admired worldwide.
Two years on and I still miss my Beloved Queen Elizabeth II. I bought a 1953 Bentley after her death and it's dedicated to her memory. I like H. M. King Charles III, but miss my Queen. She'll always be my Queen even though I live across the pond now. God Save The King! 🇬🇧
It’s amazing that Woody.EXE (Toy Story) and King Charles started their reign on exactly the same day. I have met King Charles 2 years ago and honestly he made me laugh so much when he joked about Woody.EXE not being with me but Charles wished us a healthy long reign and then we were both deeply saddened by his cancer diagnosis in February this year. King Charles has the most epic of them all...
But...
Queen Elizabeth's has the most legendary of them all!
William Croft wrote the national anthem for Queen Anne in 1701.
There is actually zero evidence to support this. It is only a rumour spread by the Marquise de Créquy in a book she wrote.
Now I hope Woody.EXE becomes the 3rd longest reigning monarch in history and I want to be his Queen until I’m 92. I’m only almost 22 as of now
@@neilraymond5914 - GOD SAVE THE KING” I am always bewilder hearing this anthem « Grand Dieu sauve le Roi », that was compose from a poem of the la duchesse de Brinon, music composes by Lully in 1686 to celebrate the successful surgical intervention on Louis XIV’s fistula! It is believed that it was pinched by Haendel when he hears this hymn preform at Versailles!

This melody was in Austro-Hungarian empire till 1918 and then over to United Kingdom, when Austrian empire was destroyed, you can check it.

Anyone know the brief song that plays in the intro?
As an American I'm not a big fan of King George III 😅 However, I respect the British monarchy in general, especially Queen Elizabeth II. She was a nice lady :)
NGL. This was a clever marketing jingle that family came up with
I love the the 'r' trill in the 1801 version
4:53 it’s actually saying the words, but it’s pretty hard to hear
As a german I'm asking is it true that the second verse is only played during war time? I love the UK by the way
When I was young I learnt all three verses, it was sometimes used, about half the time.
God save the King 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Rip Queen Elizabeth- saying this 3 days before her 1 year anniversary after her death
Me and Woody.EXE also celebrated one year of our accession to the throne in Wales on Friday 8th September 2023. It will be one year since I nearly died on February 14th, 2024, the day me and Woody.EXE start our jubilee year as we approach our 2nd anniversary
I am in no way a fan of the British Empire, being a person of color, but this is interesting and cool to see the evolution of the song.
R.I.P Queen Elizabeth II
Yes, and I am still puzzled if when King Edward VII and King George V had it played it three times when they had summit meetings with Kaiser Wilhelm II of Prussia and Kaiser Franz- Joseph of Austro-Hungary whose anthem it also was, not to mention Czar Nicholas II!
This is the best national anthem of all time. The voicing and melody are always holy and noble, calling the highest form of energy from God.
I always sing it proudly during Remembrance Sunday services in November and this is how those who died in the war should be respected. It hurts singing God save the king knowing that Charles isn’t well but me and Woody.EXE continues to wish Charles well during these difficult times

It is so weird hearing God save the Queen as I’m Queen myself but I can see why Woody.EXE prefers saying Queen because king sounds weird to him since he is one, he rathers singing it to me his Queen instead because it sounds better. I love the national anthem anyway
