Deep Breath has yet to be watched. I doubt it’ll be ready for next Sunday. Due to covid and other illnesses between us - we haven’t met up for a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed we will watch it and get series 8 kicked off soon 🤞🏼

While the Eleventh Doctor isn't my favourite Doctor, his regeneration scene is probably my favourite of the ones I've seen. His final speech is absolutely beautiful, offering some comfort to Clara and in a way reassuring himself that everything is going to be fine - a sharp contrast to his predecessor's regeneration scene. Now onto the Twelfth Doctor, who *is* my favourite Doctor - I can hardly wait for the next batch of reactions
10's regeneration was way too overblown and self-indulgent (self-indulgent on behalf of RTD the writer, and on behalf of the character). For something to be truly sad, you don't have to keep hitting the audience over the head with the message "LOOK! LOOK HOW SAD THIS IS!". It was too much. Less is always more. 11's regeneration was just way more impactful.
I was exactly the same regarding how I felt about this one. After my first watch I was wishing Matt and 11 had a better send-off but with each rewatch I love it more and more. A beautiful ending! Here's to 12, can't wait to see what Deepa makes of it all.
Capaldi takes some getting used to, but he's absolutely brilliant in the role. He's been a fan of the show since he was like 6 years old, and it's so evident in the way he portrays the character. Great reactions, guys! I'll definitely keep tuning in!

Also, Karen Gillan is like, some otherworldly type of gorgeous.

Hands down this one, they really nailed those emotional beats on all fronts. And then Peter hand me laughing, goodness haha.
Definitely. Everyone has their favourite or the one they feel most emotionally connected to, but going purely off their ability to act, perform and to play this very complex character, Capaldi is objectively the best actor to play the role.
I will say capaldi is my personal favorite. His character arch is the most Dynamic and watching him over his seasons develop into his doctor is so cool. Most doctors find who they are in one single episode. Capaldi evolves over time

This has to be the biggest change in style/manner of Doctors we have had in New Who by some distance.

Everyone else failed or gave up… but they, the Doctor’s sworn enemy, the intergalactic cockroaches, the fell salt shakers, stood against him until the end. As for Matt swapping wigs with Karen. He’d never give the wig back. He’d wear the wig in real life if they’d swapped.
11 is my doctor and after this ep I literally was like "right I'm not watching anymore" and I refused for a while but my dad insisted 12 was good so I gave it a shot but it just wasn't the same
Just to kinda soften the blow for Deepa a bit. Capaldi may take several episodes to get used to because he's doing something different than the previous Doctors. Its part of an arc but initially he takes getting used to buy i promise you will fall head over heels for him.

I have to admit, Deepa is part of a rarely privileged group of people; those who didn't know much about who the 12th Doctor was going to be. Everyone in the fandom already knew prior to the 50th special, so a bit of the magic had gone by the time it actually happened. How come Deepa dislikes the Daleks so much? Some don't seem to realise it was the Daleks that made the show a success in the first place back in the 60s without them Doctor Who would had been cancelled back in 1963. It was a good episode but I would had like to have seen more of the fight on Trenzalore and see The Doctor battle foes instead of having it focus on Clara and her home life.

I agree--I don't particularly like 11, but his regeneration speech is very good and its message applies to everyone.
