- 78 years ago, Shirley temple made her Final Film for fox studios. at this point Shirley was growing up and the studio didn't know how to handle it. this movie was colorized for VHS in the 1980's and was not re-colorized for the DVD. I'm sorry for the bad quality.

@@tanishahampton3946 : Well said !
I could say she is America's Little Sweetheart. Just a wonderful disposition, who seemed to carry happiness everywhere she went. If there was any other name she could have had it would be Joy.
Indeed! True talent & grace!
I couldn't have said it better, she was truly a wonder, thanks
65 years old and her movies still are the best. You laugh, smile and cry all in one movie. She really used the gift God gave her and she touched so many lives! Thank you Tomy9878 for taking us down memory lane where values were taught and appreciated. And true talent was inevitable.
You all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account??

God knew what He was doing when through Him, man invented technology, to make movies like this. I was feeling a little under the weather, and thought to play a Shirley movie, and just seeing her happy sun-shiny face, made me smile. She was a very special child. Can't count the number of people she brought joy to their heart.
I absolutely love Jack Oakie, and Charlotte Greenwood's acting, singing and dancing skills. Hollywood always amaze me how they can pick the right people, for the right part, and they fit like a puzzle.
Hear here me too.
During the beginning when Wendy is supposed to be growing up, they do a good job of inserting in numbers from past Shirley Temple movies.
Really, my dear, they are doing a good job in the Shirley Temple movies. They are absolutely amazing
Shirley was such a gifted lovely child, extraordinary talent that touched every heart 💖💕!

This popped up on my recommended videos. My grandmother loved Shirley Temple. She used to curl my hair as a child with the iconic Shirley Temple curls. Anyhow, this movie was absolutely amazing. It's right up there with my fav Shirley Temple movie, The Little Princess. I have been going through some struggles, and this movie really lifted my spirits. :) 🕊🤍✨️
My favorite of Shirley's films.

Just plain wonderful. I could not believe I could remembered many of the scenes. I thought at first I had not seen this movie. Most of these movies came on a Saturday or Sunday. Wow, so wonderful again to watch this. I felt like dancing not tap dancing but turning around. Thank you again.

Gosh she so precious, wish she was still alive. She was so talented, if I could go back in time it would be to her generation.
I would definitely not go back in time to that generation. I would have been subjected to unbelievable racism and terrible treatment.
She is so cute
Love watching her

It was only a great time if you were white, sad to say. Lately, it doesn’t look like we have gotten any better.😢
Shirley Temple was 12 years old when this film was made. Such a little darling. Watch her in Kiss and Tell that she made 5 years later, absolutely darling.

the best child actress
@@marialmanansala2177 0
Little princess is my favorite role of hers.
You can learn a lot about history watching old movies. This one I believe was made in 1940 and shows the ongoing clash of values between small town New England and it's elders and it's young people with a big shot of big city liberalism. This was the last "little girl" movie Shirley Temple made. Jack Okie and Charlotte Greenwood were very well known character actors.
RIP to all of them
It's a message about political contrasts. Notice the support of the Roosevelt administration and the opposition of the townspeople and their resistance to progress. Typical of many small towns that are very Republican.
Wonderful movie!! Shirley Temple was great!
Thank you so much for uploading
The singing was beginning to get really good here. A Pity she didn't make more musicals and we could hear her voice as it was maturing.
She did sing a bit in her Storybook series of the 1950s. Her mature voice was beautiful!
Thanks forthe new version of Shirley Temple
Her last film for Fox. You can tell that this is almost a farewell film to Shirley's childhood roles.
After this film wrapped, there was a pause in her career and then she went on to teenage and young adult parts at MGM, RKO and other studios.
(guest)
Later on, Shirley made a charming film, " Kiss And Tell".
Guess the public longed for the sweet child they'd come to love, but I reckon Shirley did a good job as a teenager , whatever she did!
In Kiss And Tell, I love the character " Raymond", who often says, " Well I think it's all very dumb !"
And Shirley's boyfriend "Dexter" 's frequent response to events is, "Holy Cow !"
Enjoy!
🙂
That's the sad thing about some child stars. Their career either ends when they become adult or they try to break the stereotype by taking radically different roles.
She played katelynn the year later
Loved her with Cary Grant and Myrna Loy in the "Batchelor and the Bobby soxer"
Shirley MAY have been a highly enlightened, and highly spiritually evolved being sent to earth from a far away galaxy to bring JOY, LOVE, HAPPINESS, LAUGHTER and PEACE to planet Earth! It is indeed a strange and wondrous UNIVERSE...and this thought of mine MAY be true! God bless all....and especially God bless Gertrude and George Temple for bringing Earth Shirley!
I read her autobiography Child Star and I was impressed by what she said about the ever present possibility that she might be abducted.
She said that whatever anyone might do to her, they could not touch her soul. Those were her thoughts as a little girl!
@@Altamisal
There was a interview with her as an adult. She told about how some movie company, MGM or one of those, had invited both she and her mother to sign on with them. They took the mother into a separate room, and when they both came out from their interviews they told each other about how the "interviewer" tried to take sexual advancements to both of them!😮 Needless to say, they turned the contract down! Goes to show, she wouldn't even let money talk!!👏👏👏❤️

While a bit formulaic, this was a nice closure to Shirley Temple's career at Fox. They cleverly made use of sequences from her past movies to add to the story, which was a nice touch. They are to be commented for the effort to make a nice closure of this nature, as Shirley was already 12 years old and had reached the end of the magic of her childhood.
This is my favorite. R I P Shirley

This movie before I was born but I loved and enjoyed watching now .Shirley Temple I was a fantastic and a very talented child actress.A Classic Movie 👍😘
C'est "haram" ça ma fille. C'est "haram".
Hats off to her mom. She never pushed her. Never let her be over used or abused by Hollywood. Today they oversexualize our children and parents use their talents as income. She was grounded by her mom
Shirley was in a series of films called "baby burlesks" before she became super famous and she did feel sexually exploited (talked about it as an adult) because of the subject matter and some of the things she was required to do and say as a 3 or 4 year old. I would say she was definitely overused by Hollywood and exploited, but she did manage to go on to become a well-adjusted adult.
Only Jesus deserves that word...I loved her... she was great .. can't wait to see her in heaven

Even though this movie was originally a flop I've always liked it. You can tell Shirley's singing has matured with age. Looking at the final number, the actress playing her mother must be a contortionist.
She was beginning to become a real singer here A pity they didn't continue with her.

That sign in the town hall meeting said The Essence of a Democracy is very wrong. We are not a
Democracy, we are a Republic.
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
The United States isn't like a republic, it IS a republic. In a democracy, the majority makes all the decisions while the minority are left to fend for themselves. In a Republic, representatives are chosen to represent all the people, and the representatives make the decisions.
There's such thing as Direct Democracy and Republic Democracy. We are a Republic Democracy, so we are a democracy. Republic just means we have representatives in the office such as Senators, House of Representatives, Chief executive, and more.
My point being that it's not wrong to call ourselves a democracy as we very much used that in political slogans during the Cold War.
Amy Thomas Only a true patriot of this country would have made this comment. I choose to stand with you, Amy. I also love this country and it’s flag. Thank you for noticing the sign was wrong and saying something about it. I wish more people had or at least had told you...you are right. We live in a REPUBLIC.
By the way, the word Democracy has nothing to do with Democrat. Used in that context, To!e was a Republic at one time, Greece was also a Republic and a Democracy at the same time. China is a Republic too, but it is Communist as well, and there are Countries that are a Republic as well as a Democracy. The US is both as well, because We elect our Leaders. Democracy means that the People Rule. A Republic is merely a form of Government which power is also held by the People, but that has an elected President rather than a King. A Government with a King is a Monarchy. However any Republic can have a Capitalistic, or Communist Political System.
Shirley is Awesome 🌹💯❤️

Tremendously! Especially now with senile Biden.
Yea in some ways America is a lot better then it was in 1940. People have a tendency to look at things through rose colored glasses.

My favorite of shirley films 26 movies is classic movies
Her last movie at 20th Century.
Yes, but not her last "movie" as so many people think!
The child who saved a country during the depression.
Unfortunately this along with her previous film, The Blue Bird were both major box office disappointments for Temple. For the 1st time her films were losing money and Twentieth Century Fox unceremoniously dumped Shirley after this films release. Her career would never be the same after this.
In an interview with Dick Cavette, she said Fox released all her earnings to her in one big lump sum - and she had to pay exorbitant income taxes on it.
So adorable!
Who did they get to play little Wendy because Shirley Temple was much older in this video.
I wondered the same thing
They used footage of her in her other movies and looped them in.
💖Gratitude
Me encantan sus películas siento que no todas como esta sean traducidas al español pero aun así me gustan una tremenda actriz con su carisma
Desde niña magnífica Estrella
I am wondering for how long did they take to make this movie.
No words,,,,,, except the world is not this way anymore and I miss it

The singing and dancing numbers in this classic are the best parts. Shirley near the end of her show biz period before she moved over to politics is still very entertaining. But, I like the Black and White version better.
