I have the same stove and am so happy with is. I bought it almost 3 years ago now. My house is 900sf and it keeps it very toasty! When it’s been burning for a few hours it gets up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. I agree the fire is so healing and the energy is so relaxing. It’s probably my favorite purchase! I live in the Western North Carolina mountains in the US and it’s perfect.

Hello. Your f100 is a multi fuel version.. it has a grate in the bottom and a bottom air vent for use when burning coal ect... the top slide control is for the upper air wash and secondary burn... I have a wood only f100 and it doesn't have the bottom air vent only the top slide control. There is no flue damper in a jotul f100 my friend.. only top air and bottom air... that top slide controls the air flow down the door and through the small holes air the top of the rear wall in the stove.... you can buy a damper plate that fits on top the stove collar where the flue comes out...

Very nice stove, I'm thinking about getting one just like it. I just like fires and want to save money on heating, I too don't like to rely on others, but I hadn't considered the self reliant aspect a stove brings. Thanks for sharing that point of view.

I just bought the same stove, can't wait for it to come in. I love the big viewing area.

    Hey great video,
I came here to listen about your Jotul but stayed for the second part of your video. I bought a Jotul 602 here in California for the same reason as you did. Back in the 1980s, my brother got caught in the Buffalo massive snowstorms and the entire region had to be evacuated except the people with wood stoves. Here in the USA there is a big survival movement going on as we don't trust the government or the system and don't want to rely on the government (look at Hurricane Katrina & Sandy) those people had no food, water, heat or civil order. People got desperate and violent. I have several months of food, AR-15 rifle(difficult to get in Europe), a Berkey water system (gravity fed system that purifies water) and a Honda generator. Look into the Berkey system and if you can get any kind of rifle that would help. When people get desperate, they can get violent. In any case, I feel much better knowing I have enough resources to take care of my family. I suggest you google survivalism which is massive in the USA or listen to survival podcasts like "thesurvivalpodcast.com". Tons and tons of ideas on survivalism. Enjoy your Jotul :)

We here in the Netherlands don't really have a movement like you have in the states.... And it might be not too wise to neglect possibilities to survive 'something' that might happen. People here have too much trust in their government and it's companies that we call Nuts companies... Companies like the electricity supliers, gas, water, sewage etc.... The more complex everything gets, and the more interwoven with internet. the more can and WILL go wrong. I am luckily able to take care for myself reasonably, but still lack all kinds of equipment, training, books etc, so I try to invest in those things for the coming few years, and I may make some vids about these subjects along the way. One can never be ready for everything, but I try to prepare myself the best I can, for whatever could, and will, go wrong.
Thanks for your post and keep up the good work!

You mentioned a second air control underneath. I don't see one on my F100. Please describe it so I can find it. Thanks.

It is a silver colored air control underneath your stove on the front that should regulate the air intake. The one above the door regulates the exhaust

Im having a hard time to decide f602 vs. f100. F100 look more nice because the bigger window and up to 1000sqf and have 2 air controls.
F602 have a very small window and a small door meaning i have to cut my logs for smaller size, have only 1 air control and its up to 800sqf.
My place it around 650sqf (without insulation)
    Can any one advise?

Well, there is nothing more personal as one's taste... But all I can say is that I am very happy with my Jotul. It's just big enough for my living space. I don't like to temper it too much since I want a clean chimny all winter long. The f100 can burn up to full capacity in my hause, so better for the envirronment and better for my wallet.
I like the fact that my stove has a reasonably big door and window, I love to see the flames and i get enough light from it to not have to use any extra light source... but again, that's very personal, so I can't really help you any further....

The Easter Mountain Scion May i ask what size is your place? And is it insulated?

@@asafsee I don't really know what the exact size is... My house is small and semi detached. Pourly insulated, but the environment in the Netherlands isn't that cold. It's just big enough for a one person household.

asafsee I am having the same problem right now. I like the big window on the f100 but the 602 is such a unique design + I like the cooking top on top. Did you end up buying one of these stoves? @asafsee
