you don't need to thank us for watching the video we need to thank you for making it.
This is the ONLY video I'll ever use to update my foomware. All the others I've tried have opened up some kind of side rabbit hole from something going wrong.
thank you so much sir i successfully updated my switch now to 16.1.0! this is my first time updating like this, your guide is so easy to follow, and you always answer to our question.. thanks again. ❤️❤️❤️
You are welcome
"Why? Because it is like that." DAMN STRAIGHT! love you sthetix!
You are welcome.
I just upgraded my switch from version 16 to version 17 and it worked without any problems. Thank you very much for your video that has helped solve my problem. I wish you good health and success always

Makasih bro.
Thanks so much for all you do. A thorough and well-informed guide as always.
U r welcome
Thank you for making such an easy to follow video.(nobody cares why things work or how but that they work)
Best line :
-- "why ?"
-- "because it is like that " LOL
the video is super helpful though. thank you !
you are welcome
My Switch is a V1, I got it with an AutoRCM chip installed, and your videos and HATS pack is the only thing that works for updates. Thanks again.
You are welcome
He is awesome
I have V1 as well and use a an rcm loader to load Hekate. if I update SYSMMCto latest version using this method can I still load atmosphere with RCM jig method? could I just update EMUMMC or will it be fine?
Thank you so much for your time and effort. Definitely a lot of us will need it sometime 🙏🏻
Thnx again!
Don't know where we would be without your channel and this video!
👍
My pleasure 😊
Just used your video to go from 15.0.1 to 16.1.0 on SYSMMC and EmuMMC without a hitch. I had accidentally updated in official firmware mode a couple weeks ago to be able to play latest Splatoon3 @ 5.0.0 and it caused HWFLY to not even boot Hekate (I guess that was to be expected but this was my first time doing update on my own well technically second time.. first time I was on 14.-something and mod chip needed to retrain and the magnet switch thing hadn't been a thing yet; so my installer reset and set things right; however he sent my Switch back days before the magnet switch became a thing.. doh!). Your instruction was perfect so wanted to comment with thanks and share my experience for others that might have been leery. I should mention I was always a HATS person when I first got my modded device, however I could have avoided the trouble the first time if this video existed back then. :)
You are welcome bro
Seperti biasa, tutorial yang simple, to the point, dan tokcer!! kalo gojek udah gw kasih bintang 5 dah ini. makasih bang!
Makasih
Thank you a hundred times thank you. I keep coming back to your guide and it always resolves my issues every. single. time. You are amazing! Thank you
Glad to help
As always, thanks for making this easier for us!
Thanks mate, I ruined my last update and have so many errors and thanks for HATS to repair most of it especially when I connect to the internet, now I can update tinfoil because of this latest update!
Glad I could help
Thank you so much for constantly updating the Hats file.
My pleasure!
perfect guide.. as usual by the boss

Awesome as always. Thank you for all you do. 🙏🏻

The best and easiest guide. Thank you for updating the files too. 👍
You are welcome.
Great guide. Easy to follow. This was exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Thanks again. This video has helped me so many times...
Nice.i have done first time upgrade and with your short guide succesed after 5 min without issue.thank you:)
Glad it helped
Thank you. Successfully update to 18.1.0
I go months or even years between picking up the console and every time I have to learn the process over again. I was using AutoRCM and couldn't get my Switch to charge or turn on, I didn't have Tegra installed as I had done a clean install on my PC. I'd forgotten everything. I think I'm switching to Yuzu, now at least I can dump my games. Thanks!
Good job my friend. You are the best.!
Still the best in the scene, keep it up!
Thank you.
Always the best content, thanks man.
U r welcome
my switch wont boot to hekate and just enters the ofw. i tried pressing the power button + minus volume but it still wont boot to hekate. can you pls help?
try to reset the chip
Do I really want to update the firmware of my Sysnand? I always left my Sysnand at what it is (4.1.0 for me) and just updated my emuMMC.
U better update both.
@@sthetixofficial but don't I burn fuses that way? I mean my old firmware is on 4.0 and my emuMMC firmware was on 14 and it worked until my SD card died on me and now I am starting from scratch and to be honest I really have no idea what I am supposed to do. I need to create a new emuMMC first but sadly you do not show this step in your video. I will look at your older videos hoping you show this so that I can first create the emuMMC so that I can follow this video. Really I am starting from 0 (got a new SD card) and I am a bit lost.
we better dont need to think about fuse. let it burn the Nintendo way. it is designed to be like that. please read this at the end of the article : switchbrew.org/wiki/Fuses
fuse count 17 is for firmware 15. if the fuse count is mismatched, your console especially marikos, cannot enter the sleep mode under HOS.
And you know..here's a way to start the SD card from scratch : ruclips.net/video/up_sjzKHFeU/видео.html
As always, really nice! Much thanx!
thank you so much sir sthetix you save me. God bless always sir new subscriber here
thank you.
You're amazing. Thank you so much!
thank you
Does AIO Updater not work with the HATS packs? Seems as if there is a theme that creates an error when utilizing that process
it does not
Switch oled + Picofly here.
I followed this video and updated both SYSNAND & EMUMMC successfully. But, after that I tried rebooting to OFW, the switch screen went blank and turned off. I tried turning it back on but nothing happens. So basically my Switch won't turn on at all now 😢.
I thought the battery has finished. I plugged it in to charge but still nothing shows up on the screen. Is my Switch dead? 😭
Your switch is NOT dead. You need to launch the Sysmmc and the OFW should work afterward.
I believe that I've set up everything correctly. My problem is this: once I select SYSMMC from the Hekate menu, I soon run into an error window; This microSD card is being used with another Switch console or was used with this console before it was formatted, etc. I can't move beyond this to do anything without either deleting the contents of the sd card or taking the card out. Either way, I can't proceed. How do I handle this? Thanks!
I figured it out! I let the Switch delete whatever was on the sd card that ir didn't like, and then all was well!
I updated my firmware on my oled and hats files and my switch won't boot. Mod chip shows a purple flash when trying to power on. Any idea
try to reset the chip.
i need some help first you say ''now take the sd card out of the console'' and then you continue with taking the hats file and putting them on sd card? how you do that?
remove the sdcard and insert it to the sdcard reader
Great video thanks for the trouble shooting.
At the procedure to update with HATS-1.71-4 I accidentally deleted the "backup" folder from my sd card. The switch is working fine though. What was that folder for? Will i face any problems?
you can re-dump your nand using Hekate., that backup folder contains the console nand backup.
thank you for the clear tutorial. question, is it also necessary to update the rcmloader dongle? thanks again!
we dont need it.
YOU SAVED MY LIFE!! THANKS LIKE A LOOOOOTTT!!!
Fantastic tut, thanks!
Hi, I have followed the guide and installed the HATS 1.6.2 pack + FW 18.1.0. I have used Daybreak to install 18.1.0 successfully, but after I put the SD card back inside and tried launching emuNAND or sysNAND, both give me the following error: "unknown pkg1 version hos version not supported or emummc corrupt!" (for emuNAND) and "unknown pkg1 version hos version not supported" (for sysNAND). I have tried using the latest version of hekate (as suggested online), but it still doesn't work. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks
re extract the pack , or maybe your emummc is indeed corrupted
Just a heads up. If you get this message after launching Atmosphere error code 2162-0002 (0x4a2). Delete any custom themes you have, launch Atmosphere and FTP them back onto your switch. I damn near had a heart attack when Atmosphere wouldn't boot lmao. Android, Linux and HOS all booted fine but Atmosphere crashed everytime. Hope this saves someone some stress lmao.
yes themes could cause problems :)
I'm super late but thanx for this! I was having the same issue with Atmos not loading and deleting the themes folder I had on SD solved the issue.
@@Blastoise9000 glad I could help
Incredible! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
Hi, do you always recommend updating to the latest firmware even if everything works regularly? Or advise to do it only when necessary (if some software or game specifically requires it).
yes. but you are free to ignore it
@@sthetixofficial Thanks, last question at minute 1.52 when you say to reinsert the micro-SD into the switch, do you turn the switch off when you remove the micro SD and before turning it back on do you reinsert it or can I remove it with the hekate screen?
Can I follow your guide if I want to update my switch to firmware 17.0? its currently on 16.0 I want it to be updated on OFW to access the nintendo store :) Not sure if this guide will update both the original firmware and the cracked one
You can.,
You are a life saver
thank you
I have an unpatched switch. I noticed that the instructions have no mention of using the jig or TegraRCMGUI that I normally use whenever rebooting. This is the first time I'll be using your HATS system. I usually use your older videos :) Should I still follow these instructions to the letter?
Thank you
if you have an unpatched console, then to enter the RCM mode and launch hekate, you need to use a jig. that is the standard.
yesss, nice and concise!
and two months after, here I am watching it again for the last upgrade :-)
Just found your channel and it's amazind dude ! Im new to the Scene and wanted to ask you if you have a video who shows how to migrate from sxos to atmosphere. I have a v1 switch with fw 11.0 on sxos (3.1.0) thanks in advance. You just got +1 subscriber
U are watching the guide
@@sthetixofficial sorry maybe i should have asked differently, can I use both OS with 1 sd card but with 2 different Fw bc I want to stay on fw 11.0 for the red os and on the actual fw with the blue os. I'm sorry for asking, I'm very new to this and don't understand English perfectly
U can if your console is not mariko
I tried updating with this method for FW 17 and now I'm stuck on Blue Screen both on sysnand cfw and emunand cfw... OFW works fine and got updated to 17.
Any ideas? I can boot to Hekate but I'd like to keep my emunand as much as possible since I already installed a lot of games on a 512gb card.
Edit: got it to work by deleting the atmosphere, bootloader and config folders replaced by the new HATS files. Thanks for this guide. :)
Good to hear
What with the latest hats pack, and config.ini.disabled.
Is it needed to change it back to config.ini
it is for overclocking, if you are going to use it automatically, you can try to re-enable it.
Hi thanks for a great video - are there coming a new HATS update soon ?
sorry i found the information in Telegram - thanks
Hello, can you make a tutorial on how to add a stock os on this. Thanks
100% real stock can only be accesible via the Hekate >Reboot OFW . If you want to have the Semi Stock, you can download this pack u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZezT00Zf80pWAGh49VzwJncVQqbRJCPx6ok
and extract it to your SD card. You will have the Semi-Stock option under the launch menu
Is this safe from getting banned?
Banned or not banned depends on the user behaviour. You can read about this matter on my github page. github.com/sthetix/HATS
Excuse me, is it safe to change from config.ini.disabled to config.ini in sys-clk folder?
it is fine.
Can I leave my real stock OFW as it is and just update the SYS CFW and emuEmmc? or will that cause issues?
sys cfw = ofw, same world bro.
Brp on my switch V1 pccur the pop up “panic occured while running atmosphere and the error line mention about “Error: std:: abprt (0XFFE)
Please help me about that problem, thanks
if i got this correctly : So in order to completely update the switch as nintendo releases a new update is :
1.) in OFW update switch normally using system settings and internet
2.) Update the sysmmc ( even if you dont use sysmmc and only use emmummc) and emummc using this video ??
update both worlds with daybreak. that is the safest route.
Help when i tried to launch SYSMMC my switch screen just turned yellow and now it's stuck like that
maybe you need to try unbricking it with the level1 guide.
Thank you soo much 😭❤👍!!!
A QUESTION: when installing the FW update, wouldn't it be better to update emuMMC first and SYSNAND second? So that you no longer vote the error (and have to press the power button),
or on the contrary YES OR YES, DO I HAVE TO UPDATE SYSNAND FIRST? Thanks for your answer
you can update the sysnand first or the emunand first, it doesnt matter. the thing is you must update both worlds
@@sthetixofficial may I ask why?
Can we leave the sysNAND and only update the emuNAND?
No. Why do u want to keep the sysnand un updated? U should update both worlds to synchronize the fuse count
@@sthetixofficial what is the sysnand for I only use emmunand
how can you extract the ofw game save data without using the sysmmc (if you need it)
I am getting this error when I reboot after updating the cfw to 17.0.1 using daybreak
"pkg2 decryption failed pkg1/pkg2 mismatch or old hekate failed to launch hos"
I updated hekate and atmosphere to the latest version already and still getting this error.
what should I do about this?
Try to use different SD card brands, I think your console cannot detect it.
I don't think that's the problem because I can boot yo emummc just fine. Any ideas?
check the fuse count please, make sure it is 19.
**June 2024 Update**
While it is a good video, I'm not sure if others are having this issue, but with the the latest HATS version 17.1, after using it for a few hours, the next day the device is basically unusable. During sleep mode/stand by, the device is constantly overheating which results in the device becoming extremely slow. As a result it was frustrating to figure out what was exactly going on when troubleshooting.
If you are having similar issues to this, I would recommend 2 steps:
1. Delete unneeded nro files that Homebrew Launcher uses to reduce background usage. (Just have the essentials, slowly add more if it's not an issue)
2. Either modify or do not replace your config folder at all. There are files in there that run the switch overclocked. It's great to run games at a higher performance considering the switch deliberately slows down it's power for battery life, but in the context of my switch it ironically resulted in the device to run worse in the run.
I think yes, the sys-clk config needs to be disabled. I will update the pack.
@@sthetixofficial I'm not sure if it's related, but I think I figured out the issue. It's based off Wi-Fi connection so I don't actually think it's the hats problem anymore. But perhaps there's a config in there that might alter it? I'm not really sure anymore
i dont know either, but try to disable the sys-clk by editing the config.ini to something else and try again.
Following your guide here and now OFW wont boot. Is this because of efuses?
you must run the CFW and back to hekate , reboot OFW to burn the fuse.
@@sthetixofficial Yes i did that, exactly like your guide. Even played some games on cfw. Going back to hekate, boot to ofw from restart button there, and nothing happens. I boot to sysnand, everything's good in 17.0.0. But I check the fuses info in hekate and it is still in 16.0.0.
@@sthetixofficial Any help? I still can't reboot to OFW. Only black screen. Can I update from OFW instead? Will it affect sysmmc?
@@thegreator I had black screen as well, just try to boot to OFW > if black screen > hold power for 15 seconds > run SysMMC > reboot to payload > run OFW
@@ubi5555 i did this and it still doesnt work, are there any alternatives?
Excellent guide 👏
after downloading the Latest Hats I'm lost to latest firmware. you didn't show where to go after download
archive.org/details/firmware-17.0.1 , for 17.0.1
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. I have a question with Daybreak when i want to update the FW. My SD is on FAT32, so when i need to choose the driver variant, i need to choose 1° option(fat32) or 2°optiom(fat32+exfat)?
you always choose the right option, fat32 and exfat
can't find your HATS pack at the github anymore sir..💔 as of Feb. 21, 2023..what happen sir?
DMCA'D, but you can download it from codeberg.org/sthetix/HATS
The link are down for HATS Pack.@sthetixofficial
Thank you so much for this guide. I would like to ask something. I have a modded chip, from what I read in some comments left by you, it is recommended to update the Original Firmware using Daybreak to avoid any problems with the modchip, I would like to know if updated through Daybreak would put the console at a BAN risk since I play online games with my friends. Thank you in advance for your reply and time.
your console wont get the ban unless you installed pirated games on the sysmmc
Hi, I installed an instinct nx V6 to my OLED today.
First it went well and I got the "no SD Card" screen.
So I inserted a card with the HATS-1.71-5 files and it booted into Hekate.
Then I wanted to update the FW of the instinct nx, that didn't work via console so I did it via PC and now I can't get it running again it always boots straight into the OFW.
Do you have an idea or a tip for me?
why did you want to update the chip fw? have u successfully updated it? FYI if it works, don't fix it
@@sthetixofficial Thanks for your answer.
I know "Never change a running system" but I if I setup a new system I also want it to be up-to-date.
As far as I can say the update was successfully, the update script didn't show an error. Are there additional steps to do after the update?
I checked and rechecked the installation and it looks good for me.
no the instinct-nx is already updated and there is no newer firmware since it's birth. if your chip doesn't work after the update attempt then maybe you have damaged it.. make sure the usb connector is functioning
@@sthetixofficial Thanks again I really appreciate that.
I did find different FW files online, 1.3 or even 2.0 but I guess they are not for my device.
I just installed a 1.0 I found.
Now I get one or two red flashes, some fast yellow blinking followed by slow green(or yellow?) pulsing but nothing on the screen.
I guess I have to buy a new one :(
@SpatteL19 v6 has only one fw that is 1.0
I updated once more to the latest 18.1.0 firmware, latest hekate and atmosphere with your pack. I saw on internet that you must also have a fusee.bin file. I don't have such a file in my sd card. Is it necessary? What is the purpose of that file? If it is necessary where do i have to paste it? Thanks in advance.
we dont need the fusee. dont always listen to the community out there.
How can I update my switch if I have the Microsoft with hidden partition?
Do I need to remove my SDCard, or just used the USB mode of HEKATE to access my SDCard via usb cable to my PC and replace the old ones with the latest HATS pack?
you can use usb connection
Quick question, can i update HATS from hekate usb tools? Or i need to turn off my switch and update files from SD? Just in case to do it correctly... because the hekate version is different and idk what happens
you can
Is this the recommended way to upgrade SysMMC while keeping it clean for online? Won't CFW use in SysMMC be detectable by Nintendo?
yes, running CFW is fine on the sysmmc, UNLESS...you install pirated games on it.
I have some questions regarding OFW I have oled with Pikofly
1. I want to keep Sysnand completely clean, so I basically "Never" boot into Sysnand with CFW at all, but I just found out in your vids that launching OFW from "Launch" menu in Hekata will skip the fuses count but I have already done that so many times, I have still stayed offline in OFW though, do I have to "systemwipe" if I have to really want to go online? or lunching like this is fine as long as you still stay offline? I will make sure to launch it via the reboot menu from now on.
2. I saw in this vid you do use Daybreak to update OFW from booting into Sysnand , but Since I hope that I will never boot into Sysnand with CFW, Can I just do it via official OTA (I did that with hacked V1 switch I don't know that I can also do it with Pikofly) Could you tell me the reason why don't you just use OTA?
I know that you said console will be fine as long as you don't have nsp or some installer that install homebrew on the homepage but if its possible I dont want to touch Sysnand at all just for the peace of my mind,
Thank you in advance
1. no need to do the systemwipe if you did not install or run tinfoil or pirated games.
2. I suggest you do daybreak on all worlds to avoid modchip issues
3. touching sysnand is fine - as long as you know what you are doing.
Sthetix, I deleted the folders you recommended, and then moved the HATS files to the SD. After this when I insert the SD on the console and boot, I get a yellow warning saying that PL0 (sleep lib) is missing, and it says to update the bootloader folder.
Do you have an idea of what can be going wrong for me?
i think your sd card is not detected or the console cannot detect the sd card.
@@sthetixofficial I managed to solve the problem one week later, after trying every possible way to transfer the files and make it work. It all came down to a defective SD card, bought a good one and everything worked like a charm on the first try.
But thx for the hints, anyways
I have 3 options from the launch menu; CFW sysMMC, CFW emuMMC, and stock sysMMC. hekate is on 5.9, and when i followed this tutorial i encountered an error 'failed to apply nosigchk'! I decided not to worry and it looks like it succeeded and I have 15.0.1|AMS 1.4.0|S. My question is; can I safely migrate my main account from a different switch that has not been modified in anyway to the switch where I just updated the HATS+AMS+FW? What I am really interested in is making a back up of all my games. Thank you for all the help
just extract the pack, i think you did not copy everything. delete the old atmosphere folder and try again.
games is inside the Nintendo folder
Please help, I followed your guide, formartted the microsd card from switch, then copy all the files from HATS package and replaced the reboot_to_payload bin from the atmosphere folder with hekate.bin and rename it at reboot_to_payload.bin, next I put the fusee.bin to the bootloader/payload folder, then using TegraRCM to load HEKATE, but when I lunch SYSMMC an error display appeared, "A Fatal Error Occurred when running fusee. Incorrect Fusee Version". Turn off switch switch, this time I booted to HEKATE used the load PAYLOAD option and use FUSEE, the Atmos loaded w/ no errors and working properly. Can you tell what's wrong or did I make a mistake, why my lunch SYSMMC have this error, and how can I fixed it. Thank you.
I did not said anything about fusee. To run cfw, simply use the launch menu. Not fusee
I understand that updating emuMMC is separate from sysMMC, since it's just emulated. But why cant I just update using Stock OFW with the official update process?
you can but usually i did it with daybreak.
Can u make a video on how to dump your own Firmwares? Some of your files on telegram and links are giving me errors on daybreak, it says invalid
you can use tegraexplorer to dump the firmware, that's how we dump it.
maybe I will make a video later
It work for me. 😊 Thank you.
Thank you so much….. it’s help a lot
You're welcome!
Respect!!
Hello, still getting error message with new 1tb ad card. A fatal error occured when running fusee, incorrect fusse. How do i start fresh to get everything running. Thanks
i never use fusee bro. it is not even in the guide.
if you are injecting with the tegrarcmgui, select Hekate. Not fusee
i updated my HATS and lost my access to the Stock Firmware in Hecate, how do I bring that back? I only have EMUMMC and SYSMMC. thanks for the answer
I ditched the stock because it is not the real stock as stated on ctcaer hekate ipl template. It bypasses the fuse count. So to boot to ofw, simply press reboot then ofw under Hekate
I followed the instructions but when i reboot my switch and boot into sysmmc album just opens up normally and doesnt daybreak and the other things any ideas why?
If your console is chipped, maybe you need to reset the chip or maybe you entered the wrong world
Does this work on Picofly? I've heard it can mess with timings and even damage the chip.
pico is the problem, not the pack.
When I boot to SysMMC it says the SD card is being used by another switch and I have to reformat it. What can I do? I don't want to lose all my files
well, one SD card should be used on one console. If you mixed it up, then your console will ask you to format it.
If u have a full sthetix setup I just updated from17.1 to 18.1 super easily just need to setup android again I think
Just had to go back and install that bootloader ini file with android in it everything run smooth on 18.1
Why don't you use the all in one Updater?
It is slower because I own the pack.
Thank you very much. I Need to clarify that, if I boot into sys mmc. Im updating the stock Nintendo fw with Daybreak. And when boot into emu mmc. Daybreak will update the fw in my emu mmc partion on my sd?
Thanks
you must run daybreak twice. one for the sysmmc ( to update the ofw) and one for the emummc.
Thanks. It was just to clarify that it was wat it was doing 😊
Thanks 🙏.It was my first update and all it's ok.I have a question.Appears one more chosen SYSMMC semi stock. Why?can i delete this chose?its necessary?thx
You can always edit the Hekate_ipl.ini file.
What exactly do you mean?I must delete this folder or something else? Can you send one video or tutorial step by step when create this chose like me?Also in the video you create a FW folder. When the update process is complete, we have to delete it so that when the new update comes, it doesn't exist like this, so I have to redo the new FW folder process?
If you want to delete the semi-ofw option, please edit the hekate_ipl.ini inside the bootloader folder.
You can delete the FW folder if you want after updating your console.
i did everything here in the video but i updated sysnand CFW first and emummc CFW to 18.1.0 both. i was able to boot on both but i can't boot to OFW which was on 16.0.3. any advice on this? thanks and more power to the channel. btw mine is swtich oled
if you updated your sysmmc CFW it reflects the OFW. So make sure you have updated both worlds.
So, if my sysnand is stock I can just update it regularly trough Ninja server?
you can.
Thank you for making this video for me 😅😅
You are welcome bro :)
Great video! Being that this is my first Oled with multiple partitions (my other consoles only have the sysnand cfw) so I was wondering for the OFW stock partition we just boot into it and update like normal system online?
Sysnand and ofw is one partition. So updating the sysnand is updating the ofw.
Can I use the hats pack and this method to only update the emunand CFW ? and update the sysnand OFW throught the conventional method (nintendo servers) ? thanks
you can but dont update the console online if chipped.
@@sthetixofficial ok thanks!
