Shelby GT500 GT350 Ford Mustang Fox body Terminator Supercharger upgrades best bolt on mods for a mustang 4.6L V8 5.4l Specs For Sale kennebelle
The dyno guy didn’t answer your question as to why engine performance peaks at certain RPM’s. The answer is due to engine efficiency. Say you make full power at 6K, and less at 7K. That means that the intake valves are not opening long enough or aren’t large enough to be able to suck in enough air to make more power. The higher you rev the less time the air has to flow through the intake valve (and also out the exhaust valve) so it becomes less and less efficient. You also have other factors, such as the energy needed to rotate the internal engine parts, the faster things go up and down the more energy you lose.
That’s why people will install large cams in their car, the camshaft forces the intake valves to open for a longer duration or has a higher “lift”
There’s lots of other reasons too, but that’s the main reason.
Yeah and now with newer computer engines you can actually change that "duration" of the valve opening and when and timing and all the other parameters. Some engines produce zilch hp and torque at low rpms and don't get into it until 8000 or higher (think formula 1).
Generally speaking bigger displacement engines rev slower to produce the same HP and Torque that smaller engines that rev higher. Diesels are famous for low HP but massive amount of torque at low rpms.
As complex as modern engines are, and unreliable, the benefit is being able to load different tunes into the ECU at the press of a button and even on the fly.
Koneigseggiggsiggigg with their magetically operated valves can even change how far each valve opens, how long they stay open, which ones open, how fast they open, when they open. etc as each one is individually controlled. Now couple that with how much air, how much fuel, when the fuel is injected, pretty amazing when you think about it.
Looks like under the car is a chassis reinforcement being a convertible the bottom has to be reinforced since the car has no top. That car really was someone’s baby and people are going crazy for them. The coupe is more desirable but that convertible should move.
@muskokamike127 alot of modern cars are reliable as hell. 03-04 cobras have a stout engine, 07 up gt500s and 11 up coyotes are all pretty damn reliable. Even the old 2v and 3v were pretty reliable.
Not sure about the Mustang world, but in the F-Body world, those chassis stiffeners are called subframe connectors. They stiffen the chassis torsionally to keep it from twisting due to the driveline torque.
Nice, flat torque curve. Run the old fuel out, fill it with premium and drive it. Sounds like you might need a clutch soon, so don't drive it too hard. Clutch sticking means the disc is heating up from slipping a little while engaged. It's either worn, or not upgraded to handle the additional torque.
Might even need a clutch with stiffer springs on the pressure plate to handle the increased HP. Would make it uncomfortable to drive in rush hour that's for sure lol.....(ask hoovie about his rentaracer)
The gauge in the engine bay is for the return fuel system that was added to the car. That cone part is an aftermarket fuel regulator that replaced the one in the trunk. The 99-04 mustangs have a returnless fuel system that can cause bucking and short glitches of fuel supply so the return system is a way to make the system work better by having a constant supply of fuel to the engine and the return line you see under the car takes the excess back to the tank so the factory feed line doesn’t suffer from on/off supply of fuel. It’s more necessary around the 600 hp mark and also eliminates the factory FPDM (fuel pump driver module) that can also get overwhelmed by high voltage and higher capacity fuel pumps
I changed mine to a return fuel system, and UGH the fuel lines I used weaped fuel and the thing smelled like gas ALL the time, unfortunately sold it, wish I had one back (in more stock form)
This is great. info. thanks for sharing!
Its got a return style fuel system as these cars were originally returnless.. the subframe connectors are welded in along with jacking rails or cross rails for more rigidity. all good things.
I once worked next to a shop with a dyno it was always interesting trying to hold a conversation with a customer when a big block Chevy was being revved to 8000 RPM’s 50ft away.
Yes, with that level of horsepower, the added framework is to prevent the unitary shell from twisting under hard acceleration. This may have been set up for drag racing by the looks.
aka torque twist. I posted above that I used to work in an office with a guy and he had a 1988 gt 5.0 and had a photo on his cubicle wall of his pulling a wheelie and the left side of the car was about 10" higher than the right. This was AFTER the frame connectors installed. That's Uni body for you.
Many are sold as bolt on, the fact that these are welded means they were planning on putting some big HP out of it.
Kyle's been a freind of mine for around 20 years we worked together from 2006 on very cool to see him get some recognition he's a tuning gooro thank you for this video
Think you mean a guru
Nice car terminators sell for good money I would look for a good local tuner and add some high flow cats and re tune it with 93 octane fuel then sell it. Also I would run premium fuel in it because that is most likely what it was tuned for.
Yeah you don't want to push it if it's got regular in it and it's tuned to 93/premium. You could toast the engine that way.
It's a convertible, so it has tons of chassis flex especially with a lot of power. It has subframe and frame connectors to it, to ensure the frame doesn't twist and stays straight when under power. Whoever built that, did it right. That car has tons of money dumped into it. You literally have a car there that is race-built-ready.
The gauge is a fuel pressure gauge because it more then likely has an upgraded fuel pump, and that vacuum line with the bolt in it, is for vacuum. Probably plugged off because it attached to the stock intake manifold BEFORE the supercharger was installed. If that vacuum line wasn't plugged off, it would cause it to run weird and/or a check engine light.
Sweet Cobra. I love the paint matched Styling bar. 😻
Craig!! love the real videos and now I love you!!! Al you mini um!!!! Greetings from the UK
Those are called subframe connectors. It’s a pretty standard modification on sn95 and new edge mustangs. It stiffens the car and improves handling.
You have good taste. Awesome show.
Sweet ride bro!!! Love all your videos super entertaining!!
That hose with the bolt in it is the EGR valve hose. Leave it in it's just for emissions laws. If you take it out its gonna sputter like crazy
technically a car dealer can't sell a car with emission equipment removed. Most likely why it was at the Auction.
@@jaggsta Some dealers will just sell the car to themselves and then sell it as a personal vehicle. Private party sales don't require an inspection or emissions certificate.
@@aaronbritt2025 In florida, you dont' even need a windshield or doors lol....
I BET there's a port to connect it to for inspection then remove it right after. I wonder why they didn't connect it to a catch can system.
I want one of these in mystichrome so bad! Really any sports car with mystichrome exterior and interior highlights
Oh boy. It’s down on power. You know what that means. SHES HURT MY BOY !! Lol
Each dyno is different and depending how its strapped down will produce different results too. So it might not be hurt, it's just a different dyno
@@djrattis I can confirm that she was hurt. I saw this car posted in one of the cobra fb groups and basically the new owner needed to have the motor rebuilt shortly after driving it home. Basically they realized the car was hurt while on the dyno when it made less power which is why they didn’t run it again and kept it hush hush
You need the sub frame connectors so you don't twist the frame when launching. You can add aftermarket cat for minimal cost and most likely the rear O2 sensors are deleted from the tune but connectors are still there. throw some cheap highflow cats or (Hollow) cats because they rob HP and throw in a couple O2 bungs. It really depends on the state inspection rules. Def worth keeping
Went back and looked again you can probably just order a catted X-pipe that you can swap our in a few minutes and then the car is emissions legal. Give cat-less X-pipe to new owner.
Big horse power cars don't use cats as the hi Temps and afr ratios tend to melt them .
My CTS-V Made 720 RWHP on E-85 in 30 degree weather and ran out of fuel so I just ran it on 93 in the winter and E-85 in the summer but had a GM Flex fuel sensor in the car and the tune was set up to adjust timing based on the amount of ethanol in the tank so mixing them didn't matter plus E-85 out of the pumps very's a lot.
This car was at auction because dealer that had it can't sell it with deleted cats its emission equipment. Return it unless wanna spend $2000+ to add Cats and EGR and tune to legally sell it as a dealer.
Thanks Craig.
thank you!
Personally think this car needs to go to a mustang specific shop. It has some good parts on it, but that dyno is nowhere near where it should be. With the supercharger and fuel system that dyno number is a red flag for the niche person looking at these cars since its about 100whp short of where it should be on 93 octane.
Sub frame tie
Safe and powerful
04 cobra owner here, first off they are the wrong dudes to even be deal n with that car, bottom line, second the tune on the car is old, need a fresh tune, that car should be put n down 595 to 615 of its a KB 2.2 that would be on a street tune, race tune the number would be higher...take the car to people that know mustangs, NOT sub cars etc....geez this guy
The convertible Mustang from that generation wasn't strong enough to handle the stock power from the cobra, let alone additional power that guy put in it. That is why he added the frame supports. It's a uni-body designed car, so no real frame. That power will twist the body stock enough to pop open doors under a wide open throttle pull.
She’s sounds so good 😍
If you tried to return a Mustang to the auction because it had subframe connectors, they should and rightfully would throw you out on your ass. The SFCs make the pepsi can ford produced from the factory into a car that can actually hold the road with some rigidity.
No cats is why I can return it. Illegal and unable to inspect
@@FlyingWheels Yeah that's most likely it was sent to auction a dealer can't sell a car with emission equipment removed.
Your camera lens is showing a ghost spot, saw it another video as well....left of center and below horizontal centerline.
Just bought a new camera
No cats = not street legal. This car was built for the drag strip or the track. My money is on the drag strip.
Everything done to that chassis was needed. You can always buy 2 cats and stick on it. Without those bars, the frame connectors, your car with that much horsepower, will probably twist a Half.
3:49 back in the day they called them sub frame connectors, not sure if they still all them that. That's to keep the car from twisting when you launch it. A buddy I worked in an office with had a 1988 Mustang 5.0 and had a pic on his office wall of it pulling the front wheels off the ground and the left side of the car was a good 10" higher than the right....can you say torque twist?
You’re as bad as me buying cars not knowing what they’re worth 😂
Cringe.
Hi Randy!!
@@JosephHinkley and I have more cars than you 😂
@@ImYoutubing247 what a name! You’re YouTubing 24/7 huh? Must suck to have no life 😂
@@JosephHinkley do you know how I know for a fact that you don’t have more money than me? Because you’re so desperately trying to convince me that you do. I have $100,000 worth of cars sitting in my front yard and those aren’t even the ones I daily drive. I have three houses two of which are paid off and the third one I have $50,000 in equity. I won’t begin to get into my Roth IRA, or cryptocurrency investments. you should never assume that you know somebody just because you saw them on RUclips. Have a nice day.
OMG Craig has 3 chins. Lol.😂😂😂
Easy Craig... In your first video it was "600+ horsepower, collector car !!" It's actually a driver 500 HP ,modded mustang.Lots of aftermarket stuff. And your video says "crazy power"
Not trolling but i was looking for a Collector car making crazy power ,and ended up with this bait..I've seen you make good ,honest video ,but the adsense is too much for you
Honestly I would say you build them or at least restore them wich is in my eyes the same
How much profit are you looking for I have a couple of SN95 mustangs a 94 and a 95 the last of the push rod engine one a convertible.
I would be interested for the right price seeing you don't no what all has been done with it and the internals are in decent shape. Thanks again for the update and video.
OMG 😳 that is all I got...❤️❤️
Was he running it in third for the dyno pulls?
4th is 1:1 in a t56...
he should of took it to mustang shop not subaru shop.
@@jaggsta or they could've done a 3 second Google search.🤷♂️
These guys are great and their ship is right near me
@@FlyingWheels I'm sure they're great with what they specialize in, but if they did the dyno run in third, those numbers aren't accurate.
Numbers seem low, I'd definitely get it checked out. These cars with blower, fuel system and full exhaust make 600+ all day
Mustangs those years had a lot of body twist at launch so I think guys started bracing them
Hello, I plan on starting a used car dealership in Florida and was wondering if you had a guide or tips for the paper work side of things. by that I mean what type of programs or documents do you use to process a sale as a licensed used car dealer. I thumbed through all of your old videos and couldn't find any videos about this topic. id like to learn more about the technical side, for example how to start an LLC or if choosing an LLC is even the right option for a used car dealer. Also the type of insurances I need and what's the cheapest way to obtain that. I am currently unemployed but I do sell cars on the side, sadly between my and my fiancé we can only sell four cars a year. I found a lot and office for only about 600 a month and I think I could probably jump in and start selling but I need to know the best and fasted way to get my ducks in a row before taking that chance. Btw your videos are awesome and very compelling. I love that your a fan of the early 90s imports. i currently drive a 91 EF civic hatchback. I love it even though its not pretty lol.
absolutely. check out www.StarYourDealership.com for a full step by step guide

Subframe connectors
I know im gonna sound like a dick, but i hate that someone like him got his hands on a car like that. Im a mustang and muscle car guy and i hate when check writers get cars like this and have zero idea what they have and he'll turn around and sell it for way more than its worth because its a "terminator"
Need some E85
Did you put any gas in the tank, if not whatever is in the tank is old and not helping your numbers.
LOL. After market frame? You mean subframe connectors.
This is why dealers don't buy modified cars. Its gonna cost him thousands to add Cats and EGR and retune to legally sell this as a dealer. Most likely why it was send to auction by the other dealer.
@@jaggsta Cmon bro. This guy will add a $500 BBK 'hi-flo' X and call it a day - or likely weld in the cheapest manga flow cats he can find. Also, he wants mid-30s for a heavily modified CONVERTIBLE Terminator.
Car seemed to be breaking up on the first run and that was very low numbers for the set up. Playing roulette dynoing a car without logging it like this.
Also he didn’t answer your octane question either.
In an engine the air and gas mixture can detonate all by itself without the spark plug if there’s enough pressure in the cylinders (this is how diesels work) and higher octane fuel will prevent that from occurring. This is especially important with turbo & supercharged cars as the cylinder pressure is far, far higher due to all the extra air being forced in. So in reality 93 octane is a much less volatile fuel than 87 octane, meaning 93 is less likely to combust. E85 has an octane rating of like 107.
If the fuel mixture combusts before the spark plug ignites the explosion will occur while the piston is still traveling upwards, and this causes “knock”, which is literally just what it sounds like, it’s the piston slapping against the cylinder walls.
You're mostly there. All engines run advanced timing, especially when making a power pull. Sometimes as high as 35 degrees before top dead center.
The advantage of e85 is everything you said plus the cooling characteristics of alcohol, so get better detonation resistance plus a cooler, denser charge.
so much good info in the comments. Thank you for sharing this!
I've heard e85 is rough on hoses unless the vehicle was specifically built for e85. That true?
@@teebirderv8 Yes, ethanol can wreck fuel system components not designed for ethanol.
@@teebirderv8 100%...it can literally destroy an engine from the inside.
That's a fuel pressure regulator
Interesting video. Granted I am not a car guy but other than marketing performance stuff what is the point of a dyno. I am a believer in keeping things stock. If you buy a quality vehicle Perform maintenance they will last. Sadly (to me) this looks like a hacked up unreliable over fuel consuming vehicle. Good luck in selling it.
Dave, that was a very u American paragraph that you wrote. Too much is just enough. I suggest that you take a ride in an "overpowered" American car and I think you might change your attitude and possibly vote differently. You're welcome and have a nice day.
@@iketurner1124 I like trucks. I own a 6.7L PowerStroke F-250 4x4. It has power and is Turbo Charged. I also have a daily driver 2004 Honda Civic that gets 32 mpg. How about cleaning your camera a big finger print on it shows up badly it is annoying

Hold it. Send to Mecum. Those cars all sold for more than what they wood on ur lot
A bolt in a line? It’s not unsafe, it’s just a vacuum line.
EGR is deleted so gets more horsepower. Most likely emission equipment is removed from the car is why it was at the auction. Car dealers can't legally sell the car with emission equipment removed.

Is that too much power for a Street Car ?
Does it need high skill levels to drive this car safely and responsibly ?
Seems like too much Engine
Is there such a thing as too much power?
@@FlyingWheels Cars are appliances like a Washing Machine, they serve a civilization purpose of transport .
These incredibly powerful cars are supplying the emotional needs of who ????
I came from the much more powerful Diesel Engine Manufacturing Industry, our engines developing 300 hp. are more powerful than any Car engine .
Another point might be that the Dyno devices used to measure civilian Hotrods have dubious calibration accuracy . I'm suggesting that these power curves displayed are marketing tools to brag on more than useful diagnostic evaluations. Engine power is measured from a combined fuel consumption and crankshaft output into a properly calibrated dynamometer. Volumetric efficiency of Gas Engines is probably in the 30% range.
These flashy noise makers are sizzle more than actual performance.
The Tesla cars are the outstanding performers , not Gas cars.
Of course, Sizzle sells ! So I understand the concept of selling these Toys to Boyz.

30k? Nope. It's the undesirable generation, it's a convertible and who knows what kind of mods or internals the car has. Sometimes is not about the horsepower alone. The car makes 500hp, great. Is it valuable? no. With some luck you could get around 15k more realistically 12k.
