  • I’ve been exploring Valley of the Moon trail for over 8 years in my Jeep Wrangler, it’s has some incredible scenery, extremely fun and challenging obstacles, an old gold mine and the infamous smugglers den. I haven’t been out here in a long time and now it looks like they might have closed some of the best parts of the trail, let's go explore and see what we find. I get out and explore in my silver Jeep Wrangler JK and get after it a little on some challenging obstacles, for for a quick hike and just have a great day on the parts of the trail I could access.

Thanks again! This is a gift to us all. Watching this one made me think how cool it would be to ride shotgun with you and learn about your decisions regarding lockers, the sway bar, and the lines you choose -- and how you gauge camber and roll-risk . . .and . . . and . . . and. I wonder if you might ever consider making a slow-motion training video on a trail like this one? Just talking us through all your decisions as if we were sitting next to you.

we have always called a smuggler’s cave if you were to walk east from the entrance of smugglers cave there’s one lone rock that has a hole carved in by nature that you could crawl the opening there’s no bigger than a small manhole cover, but the hole inside of the rock is hollowed out most people don’t know about this. Nice tour of that area, funny thing is I grew up in east county San Diego and have been all over the place especially Pine Valley and Campo area but for some reason Jacumba was never a place we explored, generally if we went past Campo we were headed to the Gordon's well, Glamis or Buttercup to ride the 3 wheelers.
Pine Creek Rd. is where we spent most of our 4 wheeling time, plenty of mines to explore off that one and in the 70s there was a lot more dirt road/trail access than there is now, last time I was up there some trails were completely destroyed and hiking is the only way into certain places now plus the main road in is now paved.
