    The Airoli-Kalwa Line, connecting two prominent suburbs in Mumbai, is a game-changer in terms of enhancing connectivity and easing the daily commute for millions of residents. We discuss the key features and benefits of this project, including reduced travel time, decongestion of existing lines, and improved accessibility to educational institutions, employment hubs, and commercial centers.Moreover, we shed light on the immense planning and engineering efforts that have gone into the construction of this railway line.     MRVC is executing the ₹476-crore corridor project under Mumbai Urban Transport Project III.
    The phase 2 that covers land acquisition and resettlement and rehabilitation of project affected households (RRPAH) needs to be completed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA). Of the 2.55 hectares (ha) land in Kalwa and Airoli, 1.95 ha has been acquired and the acquisition of balance 0.60 ha is in an advanced stage

    They have already built two new platforms in Kalwa, Mumbra and Diva for trains which will run on this new line. So, i don't think there will be any management problems on these stations.

      @@greenrico10 Currently there are six lines till Kalyan. 2 slow, 2 fast and two for the trains going Konkan, western line and those originating from LTT. Older slow line is now the new fast line. That’s why fast trains and Mumbai, Dadar originating Express go from Kalwa, Mumbra now.

      There will be a major management issue here. CST to kalyan has 6 tracks. 4 for local trains & 2 for express trains. Now local trains will have to cross the express lane to reach Airoli which will cause a lot of rail congestion & delays.

      When Navi Mumbai development began more than 15 years back shouldn't the authorities have looked at road, train & metro network & connectivity? They did not . And now when situation is as good as at crisis point they are trying to do patchwork solutions which also will take another decade or more for completion. These areas are occupied by common people who are low on the priority list of Govts.
      The undersea twin tunnels in South Mumbai are nearing completion while Thane metro is being built for more than 10 years now and is no where near even 1st phase completion

    I think that Government should focus more on building transportation services and vehicles like buses trains etc and should limit the high number of lane s road or highways, because it holds a major chunk of pollution and improved transportation and 15 minutes city types of initiatives can reduce the amount of pollution and also build cities where every necessary things should be closer to people who live there so that they will use cars lesser.

    I am from Kalwa as of date 15 March , 2024 the updates are :
    *Digha station is completed and operational for trans-harbour line.
    *The process of connecting the digha and kalwa is going.
    *No reason project are running late by one year.

      Umm there was an article by swarajya, I have to search it if I got so I could share it here. Cidco using neo metro in navi mumbai because navi mumbai is already a planned city and its road infrastructure plus bus transportation is already been in a good condition. Tough some alternate transit system is required and today navi mumbai's population is not so much or over crowded like mumbai.

    #AskPT what are your thoughts on more shorter distance mumbai local trains. Like currently we have Kurla- Thane, Or Thane-Kalyan etc. More trains should be Kalyan-Karjat, CST- kurla etc etc. This really helps in lesser crowds, like people between that band only take those trains and those who wants to travle long can change it. I think people will prefer less crowd with this little inconvenience of changing trains. Earlier longer route trains made sense with economic perspective, but with growing population railway will always find ticket takers at all stations.

      Once Kalyan station is revamped, we can expect more trains for Karjat, Kasara from there. Currently the platforms are not enough to originate any.

    Digha station is not inaugurated yet, hai we can think about this airoli kalwa link? 😂 even uran line is ready but nobody is there inaugurated it. None of the work have been started at other stations such as kopri and chikhloli. So sad.

    Simple solution for complex problem. If government comes up with error free signal system most of the problems of train delays and cancellations can be solved. Just increase the number of trains and reduce the time between two trains. If trains starts running on time commuters will get big relief.

    There is already a track which exists that connects to the fast line which is used mostly for goods trains. Railways could use this for running trains as an intermediate measure but we all know they won't do shit.

    You didn't explain the necessity of the elevated section between Kalwa and Digha when already the trans harbour rail line is connected to Thane station.. why not let trains coming from Belapur/ Vashi run 'through' Thane station instead of terminating there.. Similarly trains coming From CSMT can be routed to Vashi / Belapur by again making Thane a through station instead of a terminal..

    When will this project get completed?

      Now parsik tunnel is dedicated to mail/Express and freight. And it will miss out commuters from kalwa and mumbra. Also that line is single line not used by local trains.

      @@phirangi91 Mail and express trains use the fast line from Kalwa-Mumbra area. Superfast trains and trains from LTT are the only passenger trains which use Parsik tunnel now. Rest are freight trains.

      Navi Mumbai is a mess where road, train & metro network & connectivity are concerned. And this area will continue as is with patchwork solutions & super slow Infra projects. Common people stay in these areas & their value is only votes which they easily get manipulated to give for stupid reasons
      CM Eknath Shinde & his son Srikant's constituencies are in & around Thane since long. Even then Thane Metro is under construction for more than 10 yrs & the 1st phase is no where near completion.
      While the Undersea twin tunnels in South Mumbai is nearing completion . It starts at Girgaon extending north under the Arabian Sea, Girgaon Chowpatty & Malabar Hill ending at Breach Candy.
      Why the urgency ? Coz it's convenient to the wealthy & the powerful people such as politicians who live in South Mumbai.
      Even the high-speed coastal road network will complete at super speed till the point its convenient to people living in these affluent areas.
      Post that the project will be at snail's pace and at best will be a trimmed down version of what exists in the 1st part. .

    I think you are not ware 6:19 -> The 5th & 6th Lines are extended from Thane - Diva on 19th Feb 2022 by Hon. PM Modi, and now all six line services are available from CSMT to Kalyan Jn.

    Don't know why the hell railways made 2 extra platforms at kalwa. That could be used for bringing fast locals at those point for every 15 minutes. It could even help mumbra and diva commuters as well. This will be also helpful in reducing travel time and cost. Don't know but I feel railway guys are sleeping.

    In Mumbai we have many pagdi system buildings , want to understand complete law which helps tenants raise there concern and every tenant can have its own home redeveloped.
    2.near railway trains tracks there are many legal buildings and structures which are legal and shaking due to high speed rail which may lead to collapse of building, buildings are in dilapidated condition,help us know how can one raise the concern and avail accommodation.
    3.context is if building is dilapidated the building will be destroyed but what about people living inside the building,is there any protection available for them??
    4.what happens to buildings which when go old by 99 years ,like currently small buildings are destroyed and new are made ,which helps builder make money ,bt what about buildings which are already more than 22floors and become dilapidated.
    What happens in developed nation??
    5.nead complete knowledge of pagdi system, request to help us with series of videos and medium over which people can discuss the queries .

      The tenants or landlord can approach MHADA to repair the dilapidated structure if the building is a Cessesd Building (i.e., the tenants and landlord are paying Repair Cess to MHADA). If it’s not Cessed Building, tenants must come together and explore options for builder-led redevelopment or self-redevelopment.

In 1990s delhi thought to build bigger metro network, same way Mumbai Kolkata though to build more local network, that's why Mumbai Kolkata have large local train network . And don't think local trains are bad , latest local train interiors are super cool and make more space then metro. difference is normal local don't have ac . Mumbai rent cost is very high so people need a cheap option, specially in big cities . And by the way Mumbai is growth engine because central put almost all financial and commercial organisations in Mumbai beside having one of the worst infrastructure. If you have to increase metro, it should be planned . As a example old first routeKolkata metro fare for 2-3 km starts at rs 5 because route planning people heavily use it .

Without proper planning it will be fail. As I think delhi RRTS project will be failure because of its super high fare, it can be profitable if it connect delhi-agra etc .vande metro will replace local trains but it will be a failure if it take its fare high .

Those cities will have more economic activity hence increase in productivity. It's not 2+2 =4 kinda thing.
