When Johnathan mentions that the cylinder on the trust hand cannon doesn’t actually turn, it is a graphical limitation because of the sheer rate of fire you get from this arguably fantastic hand cannon. I don’t know what platform the footage was captured on but if you use a gamepad and ease the trigger down you can watch as the cylinder fully rotates into position and the hammer comes all the way back to provide the right amount of thwackage to fire the gun. Now it doesn’t provide any increase to accuracy or stability which would be fantastic for bungie to work on, but it is a neat little nod to the proper function of a revolver style weapon

You know what's crazy, just this dude who understands firearms commenting on guns from a video game and it makes good content. He doesn't shut down the idea of the unorthodox guns but rather kinda let's it play out and he explores it a little bit which I think is pretty awesome.
I actually read an article that raises a very interesting point about how revolvers might in fact be the best gun for peacekeeping in space. Particulary a silenced revolver with a gas sealing system like nagants. No automatic ejection and being able to be operated with one hand are of major importance as the last thing you want in space is spent casings flying around the cabin, while you also need a free hand to brace yourself in a lack of gravity. Add in on top of that that a space gun would need a very high degree of heat tolerance and such, and the very simple mechanism of a revolver makes it a very attractive choice. Just make sure to pack subsonic rounds if you plan to shoot inside.
It’s so interesting hearing the part about why historically grenade launchers where bounced to be less lethal, and the one in game is a blinding GL and less lethal than the other ones!
About the grenade launcher. As most of those smaller grenade launchers (like the roaring lion which was in another video) those bouncing Grenades have some kind of trigger, when they are shot and the trigger is hold they don't explode for some time but as soon as you let go of the trigger the grenade explodes. Also the reload only starts after the grenade exploded. If you shoot and let the trigger go instandly it only flies a set amount of time until it explodes.
I'm suprised that he didn't mention the HK XM8 when reviewing the Coronach-22 Auto Rifle, because the front does look a lot like an XM8 with an extra housing around it to beef it up in width.
An interesting fact about Omolon weapons that has most likely already been mentioned- They actually use a liquid polymer as ammo. Literally the worlds deadliest squirt guns.
The trusts’ hammer and cylinder do actually move I was bored one day and started feathering the trigger on my controller and I thought it was a really neat detail
The Russians developed some bouncing fragmentation grenades I believe for the GP-25/30 launchers, I think so they can be launched into windows and then bounce into rooms before detonating. I have no idea how useful this actually is.
When Jonathon mentions (11:49) the Trust Hand Cannon's cylinder not actually revolving - this was I'm assuming capture on PC? If you lightly hold in an analogue trigger you'll see the cylinder slowly turn and the hammer pull back.
i noticed something recently with hand cannons in destiny while playing with a friends where if you have a sword out and position your camera just right while your friend has a hand cannon out you can clip the camera inside the chamber of the hand cannon and see that the big cylinders that you put into the hand cannon are just funky speed loaders that have individual rounds inside of the larger shell
The Coronach-22 at 12:47 reminds me of the Pulse Rifle from Aliens but rounded and slim mixed with something I can't remember -- some video game assault rifle that had a very smooth curve to the carry handle sight.
12:00 The cylinder does rotate, the animation can be scene when using a controller instead of a mouse. Try pulling the trigger SLOWLY on the controller and you can see not only the cylinder rotating, but also the hammer pulling slowly back as well. Heck, you can see the same action happen with most of the hand-cannons in the game so far.
@@TheAHuman He's reviewed guns that don't even function similarly to guns. Omolon's fire liquid, quicksilver does the same. Cloudstrike (which he reviewed in a previous video) is just a magic stick.
I'm still on the Killzone train, I'd desperately love to see Johnathan react to the weapons in that series. Oh and you guys gotta check out Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades again, there's so many new weapons and there has just been a huge overhaul of the AR15 series of rifles in the game!
Someone should fill Jonathan in on the ammunition types in Destiny. That would really give him a headache. We have: Traditional kinetic projectiles. Incendiary rounds Electricity, like the firearm is a weaponized tesla coil. "Purple lasers" aka ammunition that manipulates gravitational effects. Guns that shoot ice cubes. And finally, the new kids on the block, guns that shoot strings.
The hand cannons in destiny do actually have rotating Chambers. There's supposed to rotate with the trigger pull, but pulling the trigger too fast results in them appearing not to rotate.
@@friedtoads13 From best to worst, it's been Hakke, Veist, Suros, then Omolon. Omolon always felt weak compared to the others, and Suros gets edged out because Veist has the better origin trait.

There are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please gamespot and Johnathan make a video for the game.
Interesting fact about D2 handcannons: if you're playing on a controller with analog triggers if you pull the trigger back slowly you can see the hammer pull back before firing
I like how this series is revealing that since a lot of the people using the guns in the game are effectively immortal 90% of the time, gunsmiths have a lot more fun with the aesthetics and vibe of a weapon than pure functionality
Fun fact about the Hammer on revolvers in destiny When you push the fireing Button on Controller slowly the Hammer pulls back. Its only when you reppid fire it that the Hammer doesn't move. I guess it was done to save animation time because you wouldnt be able to Spot it while reppidfiring and moving. Why the did it that the Hammer doesnt move by Single shot with fast push i can only guess. I think its to provent problems with animation lenght and detaction when the game has to switch animation.
the break action grenade launcher has special grenades that are unique to almost all break-action grenade launchers in Destiny 2, and that is that the grenades are controlled by the user, so if you hold the trigger it will fire the grenade, but it wont explode unless it hits something, or if you have a launcher with proximity grenades, they wont explode until they get a certain distance away from an enemy
Funny that, in looking for something that resembles the flash and thunder, he pulled out the spitting image of another weapon from Destiny called the Witherhoard :) 7:48
Surprised Jonathan didnt mention how when you reload the quicksilver, you can see the barrel of the gun form. I believe the quicksliver uses nano tech, and basically the nano machines form up and act like a fluid in the frame of the gun, and form the bullets, micro missiles, and grenades as you pull the trigger. Pretty crazy.
I think it’s worth pointing out that for the trust handcannon the cylinder and hammer does move, and you can see it happening when playing on a controller. Since the trigger on the controller allows for a half pull you can see it in action, where as on a PC you won’t be able to see it because it’s a single button. This also happens with every other hand cannon in the game.
6:24 Considering that the Destiny setting basically went through an apocalypse before the Last City came to be I could easily see guns being made off the AK archetype just for how durable they are.
Would like to have him do another dive into KF2 guns, but this time the more realistic stuff. And also showing stuff like different reload animations for different classes and perk choices / slow mo animations.
On top of his title, I'm a bit jealous of all the rifles behind jonathan. He has a whole rack full of things I'll never get to touch, let alone own, just casually organized behind him.
Quick rundown for you: Omolon is a company that specializes in Liquid Ammo (basically a glorified pressure washer) Suros specializes in ease-of-use, hence why all their guns look so simple. HAKKÉ is all about stopping power, and that’s why they are the high damage weapons. VEIST is about speed and precision, hence why they are usually high RPM weapons
First time seen Mr. Ferguson in the War Factory documentary, and I was totally fascinated by his explanations on guns. It's both surprising and impressive to see him comment on fantasy Destiny 2 guns!
So about cylinder rotation on Trust: all handcannons in Destiny 2 at least have a feature where if you slowly pull the trigger, you can see the hammer pulling back and the cylinder rotating. I guess most people wouldn't notice that in this game though with how much it can have going on at any time
Might I ask Johnathan to review the guns from FEAR? I think the Penetrator and repeating cannon would be the most interesting for him to talk about. The Repeating Cannon is almost like a Neopup/Inkunzi PAW or a man-portable Mk 19. The Penatrator is simply hilarious in how it staples people to walls.
12:05 about cilinder not moving. It is just not noticeable when playing via keyboard and mouse, also as it could be with hammer movement. However if you are using consor controller like dualsence if you slowly pull the trigger of controller you will see and barell movement and hammer movement without shooting, as if you were pulling normal trigger. However im not sure if it is just that certain revolver isnt that much more "expressive" or is it just moving too fast
Jon: You've talked about the future of aiming devices moving to a more holographic reticle or integrated with HUD systems. But do you think the future also loses "charging handles" as we see them now? Evolving into some system where not only is ammunition caseless but magazines are so waste free as to be not worth recovering and "self" loading or self charging?
For Trust (and all hand cannons) on console you can lightly press the trigger and see the hammer cocking back and the cylinder rotating, it's just not shown on MnK because it's much faster
for nameless midnight, the release catch is right in front of the mag, and it seems like the user smacks it as they slide their hand down to grab another mag.
about hand cannons, the hammer does actually move, you just need an actual trigger pull input, like on a controller. mouse clicks skip the double action feature and make them appear semi auto
I wish I could reach out to Mr. Ferguson directly to ask him some honest questions pertaining to his viewpoint on the weapons he's studied/learned, because I would love to hear more of his thoughts on how some of these weapons from games he's reviewed have changed his perspective a little. Rather, I'd love to learn more from his direct perspective other than through these videos. It's both entertaining and educational in a way!
okay GameSpot im gonna give you some advice with destiny. if youd like to show the firearms expert as much detail as possible id reccomend using a controller and pulling the trigger SLOWLY. not many people know that by doing so you will be pulling the trigger in game slowly too, they focus on small details like this that nobody really sees. i hope this helps with handcannons especially as you can see just how far back the hammer will go before shooting a round.
The cylinder of the trust hand canon does revolve but it can be hard to see, I know this because I actively play destiny 2 and run that weapon in my load out often
I think the one situation where a revolver might become viable in a sci-fi combat role would be if facing an alien threat that is significantly larger/tougher than humans. Revolvers seem to be a better platform for larger, more powerful rounds that might be desirable in a sidearm in that sort of situation
If you decide to do more weapon reviews for destiny I would recommend for the exotic weapon specifically to look at the perks that it has as it could give you more context on what the weapon actually does
I would love to see titanfall specific weapons (not Apex). Also great watch would be Evolve Legacy/Stage 2 guns, as those are typical vs personel guns, but "big game" ones.
the reason the hammer and cylinder dont move is entirely because of mouse input if a controller is used the hammer moves and cylinder rotates for how far you depress the trigger on the controller until you press it all the way and it fires

@@TheAHuman true, tho he seems to get annoyed when sci-fi clings to hard to contemporary gun design.
@@TheAHuman Hakke has realistic designs, but I wouldn't say that they're necessarily any more realistic than Omolon's. Omolon mostly makes energy weapons, which means they aren't bound by the same mechanical constraints as Hakke's slug-throwers, but they still take heavy inspiration from real guns like the K10 Vector and PDW-R.
@@TheAHuman Or Tex Machina with them being based on older golden age weapons lost after the collapse
This guy is such a good sport. I like that he's obviously having fun analyzing some of these designs.
I wish more channels had awesome long-term collaborations like this. I love how Jonathan can do what he loves, yet also do something really special with a completely special entity, such as Gamespot in this case. I'm sure there's also a monetary agreement as well, which is even better for the Royal Armouries. At least, I hope there is.
When I was in the Navy in '99 - '04, we used what looked like an M79 but had polymer furniture and used elevation ladder sights mounted further back on the weapon. It was a single shot break open weapon and sadly since it's been 19 years since i left active duty, I cannot remember the model or manufacturer. Still had the same sound that gave the M79 the nickname "Blooper". (It's sound is something like THOOMP..........*BOOM*)
You know what's crazy, just this dude who understands firearms commenting on guns from a video game and it makes good content. He doesn't shut down the idea of the unorthodox guns but rather kinda let's it play out and he explores it a little bit which I think is pretty awesome.
For Quicksilver storm, I’m surprised he didn’t talk about the grenade launcher mode
Kept waiting for it
I actually read an article that raises a very interesting point about how revolvers might in fact be the best gun for peacekeeping in space.
On Trust (the hand cannon) if you play on controller you can half squeeze the trigger, showing the hammer move back and cylinder rotate
actually, I believe you can do that with all revolvers.
It's been a feature since Destiny 2014
@@fire_man3173 yes you can
It’s so interesting hearing the part about why historically grenade launchers where bounced to be less lethal, and the one in game is a blinding GL and less lethal than the other ones!
I believe the Coronach-22 at 12:47 is a mix between the XM8 chasis design with that ridge at the front with the chonkiness of a F2000
1:14 That's exactly why the bullets leave trails lol
YEEEES NAMELESS MIDNIGHT. I was there from the start and I was there when this was THE gun. Oh that sound. It’s been so many years..
About Battle Scar - there are lots of Destiny year 1 scout & pulse rifles that have their magazines far behind the actual chamber and lock.
It’s shows up as strand gun when it’s not
The trusts’ hammer and cylinder do actually move I was bored one day and started feathering the trigger on my controller and I thought it was a really neat detail
Big fan of the Destiny gun reviews and reacts.
Really would love to see another video reacting to the Exotic guns again
Please do more of this. Destiny 2 has SOO many unique guns.
When Jonathan mentioned he noticed f2000 in the suros rifle, I noticed a partial design of the XM8 rifle. Does anyone else see it?
Always love seeing destiny coverage from Jonathan
The Russians developed some bouncing fragmentation grenades I believe for the GP-25/30 launchers, I think so they can be launched into windows and then bounce into rooms before detonating. I have no idea how useful this actually is.
When Jonathon mentions (11:49) the Trust Hand Cannon's cylinder not actually revolving - this was I'm assuming capture on PC? If you lightly hold in an analogue trigger you'll see the cylinder slowly turn and the hammer pull back.
Hold on, is he sitting in front of a WALL OF EM-2'S
That's a flex
i noticed something recently with hand cannons in destiny while playing with a friends where if you have a sword out and position your camera just right while your friend has a hand cannon out you can clip the camera inside the chamber of the hand cannon and see that the big cylinders that you put into the hand cannon are just funky speed loaders that have individual rounds inside of the larger shell
The Coronach-22 at 12:47 reminds me of the Pulse Rifle from Aliens but rounded and slim mixed with something I can't remember -- some video game assault rifle that had a very smooth curve to the carry handle sight.
The XM8
@@_Chimaera_ Thank you
@@WorldBridger70 all good
12:00 The cylinder does rotate, the animation can be scene when using a controller instead of a mouse. Try pulling the trigger SLOWLY on the controller and you can see not only the cylinder rotating, but also the hammer pulling slowly back as well. Heck, you can see the same action happen with most of the hand-cannons in the game so far.
Do every cod zombies wonder weapons. I'd love to see Jonathon's take on them 😁
Definitely should
Sadly that wouldn’t work, most of them are 115 and don’t even work like a gun.
@@TheAHuman he literally did a video on Splatoon. I don’t think wonder weapons are gonna be to hard.
We have:
Traditional kinetic projectiles.
Incendiary rounds
Electricity, like the firearm is a weaponized tesla coil.
I think for Destiny you should focus on the Foundry types, looking at the design types between weapons classes. And exotics getting their own part.
Yes to the foundries, and I think GameSpot has already 2(?) exotic videos.
Tex Mechanica and Hakke for sure!
@@crowstray hakke tends to get the short end of the stick most the time, but they've always been my favorite.
@@friedtoads13 From best to worst, it's been Hakke, Veist, Suros, then Omolon. Omolon always felt weak compared to the others, and Suros gets edged out because Veist has the better origin trait.
@@thecrimsoncommando3875 D2 year 1 Uriel's Gift says your opinion is wrong

Jonathan, made a video on *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* weapons.
So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese mauser clone.
Fun fact about the Hammer on revolvers in destiny
When you push the fireing Button on Controller slowly the Hammer pulls back.
The host did a good job not being too snobby about what would really work. Nice episode. Do more destiny
Thank you someone else who got a little annoyed from the other times he did destiny and was snobbish when it isn’t meant to be realistic
The Coronach-22 @13:02 to me screams H&K XM8 in spaaaaace more than an F2000. With the swooping line of the XM8 top handle and general shape.
Now we need to see him take a look at the more conventional foundry designs from hakke and whatnot
Still waiting for the Destiny Hakke reaction. The most normal/modern looking weapons
Our boy sitting in front of a wall of em2's. This is literally Jonathan's happy place.
13:28 I don't see F2000 but I do see a lot of XM8 in there
i am still waiting for his rection to the Thorn and how the "bullets" are shaped like
Would like to have him do another dive into KF2 guns, but this time the more realistic stuff. And also showing stuff like different reload animations for different classes and perk choices / slow mo animations.
the cylinder on the cannon does rotate brother, just gotta pull it nice and slow to see. trust.
13:10 I just realized this gun model was based on the H&K XM8 gun. Love the sci-fi design of the real world counter part
Someone get this man a good quality camera already, he deserves one
On top of his title, I'm a bit jealous of all the rifles behind jonathan. He has a whole rack full of things I'll never get to touch, let alone own, just casually organized behind him.
"It's been taken beyond the realms of science fiction"
Shows dude killing Taken... lol. A+ editing
Quick rundown for you:
Omolon is a company that specializes in Liquid Ammo (basically a glorified pressure washer)
Suros specializes in ease-of-use, hence why all their guns look so simple.
I'm kind of surprised Jonathan didn't catch the XM8 resemblance on the Coronach-22
Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and 3. There's alot of weapon detail in all 3. And I'd love to see Jonathan's take on Big Boss' M1911A1 gush.
I'm surprised he didn't pick up the XM8 design cues on the Coronach-22
12:50 I'm surprised that the XM8 wasn't mentioned. That's what I immediately thought of at least.
For Trust (and all hand cannons) on console you can lightly press the trigger and see the hammer cocking back and the cylinder rotating, it's just not shown on MnK because it's much faster
The Coronach-22 bares more than a passing resemblance to the H&K XM8. I'm surprised Jonathan didn't pick up on that!
for nameless midnight, the release catch is right in front of the mag, and it seems like the user smacks it as they slide their hand down to grab another mag.
about hand cannons, the hammer does actually move, you just need an actual trigger pull input, like on a controller. mouse clicks skip the double action feature and make them appear semi auto
I'd like to see Jonathan revisit Battlefield 2042. They have added some interesting near future weapons recently.
I feel like it'd almost be too little for him to go on, yet I'd love to see Jonathan's take on some of the stranger guns from Enter the Gungeon!
Ah yes my favorite, the shotgun shell that shoots shotguns XD
"It's a bullpup so I automatically love it."
Are you me?
If you decide to do more weapon reviews for destiny I would recommend for the exotic weapon specifically to look at the perks that it has as it could give you more context on what the weapon actually does
i'd like to point out that the Basso Ostinato is a rapid fire shotgun, meaning that it fires fast(ofc) and is full auto
Would have loved to see Johnathan comment on Finality
I would love to see titanfall specific weapons (not Apex). Also great watch would be Evolve Legacy/Stage 2 guns, as those are typical vs personel guns, but "big game" ones.
the reason the hammer and cylinder dont move is entirely because of mouse input if a controller is used the hammer moves and cylinder rotates for how far you depress the trigger on the controller until you press it all the way and it fires
