@AlanR if you enjoyed the emotional family drama portrayed in this DUST video, then check out American daytime shows: "Days of our lives" and "General Hospital". They are both very long running and well respected tv series. They also have great character development and are full of heartfelt emotions WITH NONE of the low brow crudeness found on Jerry Springer. Hope you enjoy them as much as my grandma did 😘

Ahh. Bloody hell. That one got me where it hurts. I have read many hundreds of SF books and watched as many films in the genre as I could. And yet with this film you managed to come up with an original take on the trope of the stranded/lost spacer. And not make it too predictable. Especially focussing on the parting with the family rather than the inevitability of him not making it back to safety. But what got me was the way you told the relationship with the main character and his dad. His dad just didn’t want to loose him and of course we find this out against an awareness that he is going to lose him. Simple but so brilliant... And as someone who is estranged from his father, it made my cry a little. That is the best compliment I can give a film. Thank you.

As a European New Zealander fortunate to have married into a Polynesian family (Samoan) I found it moving to witness a family drama familiar to me from my wife's family in Auckland juxtaposed with this science-fiction scenario. Something very Polynesian - down-to-earth, emotionally deep, and real - carried into a new world. Something ancient taken into the future. Well, Polynesians are navigators. Well done.

I can't help but disagree with the opinion that some of these fantastic short films, so typical of Dust, should be made into full length features. This film for example is so perfect for it length and content that it would be spoiled if its emotional content were diluted. The short film which Dust so wonderfully showcases is an artform in its own right.

It's for your peace of mind. One may want to ask for forgiveness when looking too forgive though. Another takeaway I got was, live without regret, because tomorrow is never promised.

having strong flashbacks to trinity talking for 15 minutes at the end of the matrix 3 when she was impaled by 69 sticks of rebar..

It's amazing the number of people, ever since humanity existed, that have travelled into the unknown to learn something or advance humanity's knowledge and welfare. Going to the North or South Poles were epic journeys. The travellers never knew if they would see their families again and many didn't. This film reminds us of that and ,shows us that there will always be people ready to make that journey into the unknown for the greater good. The first people that go to Mars will be among those travellers. This film gives us a glimpse into our future. Thanks.

Very nice. Science fiction with a heart. Here is to our Hawaiian brothers and sisters!

Perfect on all levels, all domains: dialogues (human and with its AI-assistant-package), drama, emotionally, family, humanity, SF (Sci-Fi for USAmericans), especially A.I. and social.

I don’t think I can describe how excited I was, as a Hawaiian, to see a short film written, starring, and produced by Hawaiians.

One of my favorite of the show. An astronaut landed on a planet. He built a false world with people. He started having issues with his ship. The ship broke down. And he had to face. He was truly alone. Woo realty.

Amazing short. Both visually and story wise. Great cinematic scenes and score too. It’s hard to make a short to have your heart invested in the characters. And my God, that ending was soul splitting yet beautiful. Well done!
