- Check out this Directorial debut from internationally renowned designer and concept artist, David Levy (Tron legacy, Prometheus, Ender"s Game, Tomorrowland, Avatar2). "On a post-apocalyptic Earth, Leila Dawn (Natalie Floyd), is the only human survivor. Raised by Robots after humanity abandoned the planet they destroyed with nuclear warfare, Leila cannot forget her parents nor ignore her yearning to find other organic life. A hunt she sets out on with a Military Unit, Marker (Lex Cassar), leads Leila to discover the reality she’s been denied-a reality that sparks her ultimate quest.
The short film is the first 15 minutes of a science fiction TV series Levy has outlined and hopes to film. Unlike the highly VFX-ed science fiction films inundating audiences today, PLUG is a return to 1970"s classics like Star Wars and Mad Max with a gritty universe made from mostly live props and real life settings. Forgot it was a short film on Y-tube and not a full film I was waiting to continue when the credits came.
Loved the Mad Max meets Star Wars feel to the production design.

Geeking On Games you are aware that you are comparing large productions with a short film?, not belittle the work of these concep artists, maybe they do not work for Hollywood, but not mean they are not good.artist. you're some kind of concep artist?
This must become a full length movie or series !!! I was so upset when the credits started.
Am I the only human on earth who imagines a bright future full of progress and glory? Everyone seems to think the world's going to shit, except for me. The world WILL go to shit if a shitty world is the only thing the masses can imagine. Lets think up some new inventions to deal with the potential causes of a shitty world, eh? ;)
That being said, the short film was still good. It looked like Daft Punk and Mad Max had a baby and named it Destiny. ;)

There are a million ways for us to end up wiped out or in end up in an apocalyptic world with most of the world wiped out. Our main threat is ourselves. And it won't be from middle eastern countries if any. It will be from bombs dropped by western countries like America and Russia e.t.c.
Thanks for all the likes! . The online response for PLUG has been overwhelming, especially the Sci-fi scene, for whom this short film was written, directed and VFX'd with love. There is MUCH MORE to the PLUG universe than it is hinted here, and it seems that everything is lined up so we can keep telling our story! See you soon and thanks again so so much for the support in such a short time! {EDIT} Yep, it has been a long time, we have a script, but like many things in the movie industry, things don't happen despite putting tons of energy into something. The project has been a massive personal investment, but has been put on pause in order to allow for my life to happen and make money. I still have hopes to get back to it, but the road is long, and the overall success has been mild, hence not good enough to push it further at this time :/

It is a shame that it is 2019 and no Plug II, Natalie Floyd is no longer acting. I enjoyed her brief but well-acted presence. You should flesh out the IMDB info. It is he forst time I have seen so little, even for a short.
Y'all gotta make the rest of this. Way too much potential to leave it hanging. Gotta wonder why the streaming outfits don't pick up more of these -- lot of film for not much budget. Seriously, we don't need zillion dollar budgets; we need stories.
sorry but while the premise is tempting the execution, specially the writing is medicore at best. if you produce a short story, make a short story.
all you did is cutting of a long plot. thats not a short story. its ok to leave things open, its not ok to simply turn of the camera after a random scene.
short stories always wrap them up just enough, they have some sort of conclusion.
here nothing in the plot made sense or did had a meaning. you have to give it a meaning.
all we have is some random action scenes we dont know the meaning behind it other than she was raised by machines that lied to her.
and the plug is in some random dessert cave... thats not storytelling, sorry

I too am sick of these being called "short films" which implies that it is a short but complete story. They would be better labeled "potential trailers", pilots, first chapters or something to indicate they are not complete.
Actually it makes perfect sense as it is. Because film simply means motion picture.

I certainly agree with you guys, and yet, after giving this some thought, I think IF a film were labeled "not complete," I may tend to just skip it if my free time available to invest in watching it right then were a factor...which would be a shame, especially for such an excellent cliff hanging piece as I think this one is. ; )
you are totally right after a few ones i really got tired of all those "open endings" give the story a fucking ending!!! its ok once in a while but there are too many shorts with this kind of ending already...

I liked this a lot. Light on CG and heavy on real sets and interaction. Definitely reminded of older 70s and 80s flicks like Damnation Alley and Road Warrior. Hope to see more.

PandaWTG This could be very true. Her acting isn't far off from a Sci-Fi channel actress, in my opinion (which isn't necessarily bad). But, I'll definitely admit I'm guilty of nit-picking every movie to shreds, so this may not have been an issue for many viewers. Science fiction is my favorite genre if it's done correctly, but this just comes down to personal preference of what a viewer wants. The overarching dread the beginning of this film presented was quite interesting, but I feel it devolved itself immediately with a character that seemed so generically "bubbly" if that makes sense. Maybe that was the purpose to juxtapose a character such as this in such a bleak setting, but with a mythos that is so dreadful I found it strange most human characters behaved as such. But, once again, I'm hard to please. And, for a [presumably] low budget and independent film, I couldn't have done better myself.
I'm rather surprised by the criticisms. I very much enjoyed this short and look forward to future episodes around this premise. I thought the production values were very high for a short broadcast on RUclips. I've seen horrible shorts get excessive praise even when it's Vfx and designs were amateurish at best. I hope to see more from this team.

This was such a sweet concept film. Love the musical score. The nuclear holocaust intro was epic! The human living amongst the robot "population" is very intriguing, and it ended on such a cliffhanger. Fantastic job! I would love to see more.

This is an example of good Sci-fi. It doesn't require any Hollywood garbage, just talent and enthusiasm.

It is not a robot bar, it's a charging station, kinda like a gas station with a coffee stand in it, and they run on Gatorade.

I know the point of a short film is to keep the audience guessing, but this and many others are really good, and worth of a series, or movie.

P.L.U.G. is the best one I've seen so far. The premise of mech's taking care of a human until she finds out "the truth" is an intriguing idea that should be expanded on. Good production values here.

I hope one day we get to see an expansion of the story. There is so much crap being churned out of Hollywood, that they seem to have run out of ideas altogether, bar a handful of producers and directors I especially love the fact that you didn't overdo it with CGI A good premise for a story, just would like to see more of said plot in a full length movie

I’m new to short movies, however this has better cgi and scripting than a lot of the Hollywood fluff and mock busters. It was engaging and easy to watch. Only issue was the odd ending but even that was well made just not clear enough what happened.
It has Shades of both oblivion destiny thrown in, all in I would give this a thumbs up and say give it a watch.

Custom armor and weapons are on point love the designs!
Impressive. This one pulled me through the whole way and it left the door open for another episode. The CG blended really well into the scenes. Im a fan of environments and the structures in the backrounds of your environ. sweeps made me wonder what those "props" were used for. Maybe we'll someday figure that out. Kudos to the team.
