  • If you’re suffering from arthritis, you need to make one change in your life. In this video, I share a transformative case of a patient with severe knee osteoarthritis. Initially, the patient tried numerous treatments, including physical therapy, chiropractic care, injections, and medications, but still faced debilitating pain. The turning point came when she focused on her diet and weight management. She eliminated processed meats, fried and processed foods, and significantly reduced added sugars, opting for a healthier diet rich in fish, vegetables, nuts, and natural sugars from fruits. This dietary change, coupled with regular walking and strength training, particularly targeting the quadriceps and gluteal muscles, led to significant weight loss and reduced knee pain. Dr. Peng emphasizes that osteoarthritis is not just a wear-and-tear disease but also a metabolic one. Managing arthritis effectively requires addressing these metabolic factors, including weight, diet, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels. He advises others with knee arthritis to adopt similar lifestyle changes to improve their joint health and overall metabolic balance, promising a significant reduction in pain and enhanced joint function.

      Hi there!
I've scoured internet finding any topics relating to PCL. ACL has always been the more studied ligament and left PCL to dust when it comes to data.
For info, I suffered a grade II PCL tear recently with about 20% still intact. My ortho suggested PRP to treat the injury as he's not keen on doing surgery.
About a week has passed and progress has been slow but promising. I started to walk without much instability already and its just getting better.
My ask is if you can provide/educate people about PRP to ligament tears and how effective it is to "heal" the tear.

I'm a 45M who was diagnosed with right knee OA two months ago. Never have I been more focused on something as I have been on beating this.
I've been fighting back ever since from all angles....diet, mobility, strength training, supplementation, and later this year I think I'm going to give PRP a try.
I'm going to report back here one day and tell you how I'm thriving.

I’m 5’6”, 125 lbs, runner for 25 years, even so there is great force going through my bad knee on any footfall. I’ve had gel injections in the past, and am now 5 weeks post PRP with no running post injection. I’ve been cycling daily and have done strength training for upper body, legs and knee strength. Yoga is also very good for total body balance and function. But the most significant thing I’ve done to decrease pain and feel healing is eliminate all grain, every bit of it. I eat sweet potatoes for breakfast. No processed food ever. Amazing result without all that inflammatory crappy grain in my diet! I miss bagels 😂 but I’m never going back, the change is incredible. Also try adding a collagen powder to your intake. Arthritis loves a dirty diet, I feel like I’m starving it with these changes.

Well said Dr. Peng. Lifestyle plays a crucial role in managing arthritis, yet it is often overlooked. I constantly emphasize the importance of a comprehensive approach that includes physical therapy, dietary habits, and stress management as the number one treatment for arthritis.
Arthritis can greatly impact one's quality of life, but by addressing all aspects of lifestyle, we can greatly improve symptoms and overall well-being. Physical therapy helps strengthen and support the joints, while adopting a healthy diet can reduce inflammation and contribute to joint health. Additionally, managing stress is essential, as it can exacerbate arthritis symptoms.
I encourage my patients to prioritize these lifestyle factors alongside the injections like prp, cortisone or viscosupplementation.

Sadly I know what I should do but getting started seems difficult much to my frustration, it is a vicious circle for me, food is one of my main pleasures in life, I eat good quality foods but since exercise causes such pain and steroid injections & oral analgesia unfortunately have not worked I don’t burn the calories.

    Hey Jeffrey,
Beautifully shown and explained everything in the video, right now i am in between the innerstanding whether it is Minescus or Arhritis. 5 months back i started to meditate cross legged with the right leg on the left thigh, though the hips were not open then all the rotative movement came from the knee which resulted in massive pain which i thought to be normal at then until due time the pain progressed to the point where i cant sitt cross legged without pain. Now my hips are open and everything is perfect with posture except the knees which is preventing me from cross-legged posture. How could i make sure the difference as the pain is in both inside of the knee, on the left and sometimes right. I am really looking forward to getting back to be able to sit in that posture for my sadhana and i was thinking maybe you could say something of this. Thanks!

The swelling and stress on knee is felt when full contraction is done, and some physical movements also lead to me feeling a little pain on the left side of the knee. Right now this is occuring on both knees as i had switched to the different leg when the pain got worse. Looking back at this now of course im scratching my head and wondering why i was doing this but things happen.

Dr Peng I have watched all of your videos, and learned so much. I have pain on one knee, I did a prp injection it worked for 6 months, second injection, didn't, pain comes and goes, but bu the pain is lower. One method i discovered and almost eliminates totally the pain is to put on my knees grounded electrodes I made myself, 30 -60 min or more, pain goes away but inflammation after a day or so appears again. At least I found a way reduce it. Now this "new approach " I read recently in the books of Dr William Davis, removing sugar, bread completely from a diet, possibly inflammation is eliminated, also to use the microbe to make yogurt L. Reuteri that will be a huge game changer. .

In my experience, this is just not true. Not everyone needs TKR. Many people who are unsuccessful in a SERIOUS trial of conservative management do end up with TKR.
