Guys these aren’t 70 Hemi Challengers- you’re insane thinking paying 100k over on a modern Dodge Challenger is in any way a sound investment. There’s millions of these things rolling around- they’ve been building this generation for 15 years- when did intelligence become such a rare commodity?? Vintage Mopars achieved that value by their lack of available units. If you paid cash good on you, hoping you didn’t finance it.
the fact that this car is purpose-built to be a dedicated street-legal drag race car and the SRT engineers went above and beyond to save weight where ever possible to run the quickest and fastest quarter-mile time possible I actually think the bare bones one-seat stripped-out model with the only option being the carbon wheels and maybe the red seat belts if you like them will be worth more in the future than a loaded out one with leather, sunroof, Harmon Kardon and all that because those options add weight slowing the car down... loading it up with all the options defeats the purpose of the car, to begin with... The reason Dodge charges $10k for the sunroof is because the engineers hate that it's even an option after working so hard to keep the weight down...

People don't realize the more options you add will make vehicle worth less due to weight....that's why sunroof is a 10k option😂people are taking an 8.99 second vehicle to a 10.5 second plus.

I honestly can't speak on the situation as I've only ever purchased vehicles because I wanted them and never cared about the future value in them. Even if they were known "collector cars". I buy them because I want them and want to enjoy them. But once again, that's just me.

What’s even better than that is the fact he thinks it’s going to be worth “half a ticket” or $500,000 in the near future. Not at all. The “Drag Pak” is under msrp and they only made 50 of them. Someone put one up on “bring a trailer” and highest bid was $125,000. Msrp of that car was $144k, the msrp of the 170 starts at $96,666 and goes up to $108,650. This guy loves burning money I guess. $250,000 for a $108k car…

The more stupid people pay the stupid prices for these cars the more incentive dealers have to price gouge. To me it's a damn shame the only reason people want these cars is to flip them instead of enjoy them.
I told my dealer I'd give them 125k, they agreed and had me come in the next morning to start the transaction, I get there and they say oh sorry we already sold two of them, they have one left and it's going for 200k, I'm like thanks for wasting my time and left.
Money isn't even the issue, yeah I can afford that, but all it does is positively reinforce the mentality that its ok to inflate these prices.
I absolutely loved Dodge brought a 700 + horsepower car to market that the average Joe could afford, I've seen so many new people get into the car scene simply because they can afford this bad ass car, and now it's hard to find a brand new RT for under 50K. This robs the average person of being able to enjoy these cars, and instead makes it a luxury only the few can afford.
To me this is just scalping, it's no different then high-income earners moving into a low-income towns and making it unaffordable for the people that lived there their entire lives, or the people that hordes hand sanitizer at the beginning of the pandemic, and then sold it for outrageous prices.
But hey this is just my opinion and we all have our own moral compass. I mean hey if everyone else is doing and why not jump on the bandwagon and make some money too round and around we go.
