$10K FOR A FUCKINGGGGGG SUNROOF IS CRAZYYYYYY
The reason that sunroof is so pricey. Is because they wanted to steer people away from getting one. Because of some of the people that buy this car and they have there buddies hanging out the window when doing donuts and burn outs.
Crazy money for sure, betting it will add to the cars's exclusivity down the road.
It's also a structural rigidity aspect a car running that quick and fast you want all the strength you can get to avoid turning the car into a pretzel. A big hole in the roof takes quite a bit away from the rigidity of the structure. And from experience with my 2010 kenne bell supercharged challenger 6 speed car speeds over 120 mph the sun roof wind leaks like crazy. I could always tell when I was 120mph or over in the 1/4 mile from just the sunroof wind noise.

I 100% agree with your logic on this. Even if someone buys the crate motor and put it in something, it will never be a factory built package car, and there is always something to said for that.

C170 doesn’t make more power than the Hellephant. C170 makes 900 on 93 and 1025 on E85. The Hellephant 426 makes 1000hp on 93, so imagine an E85 tune on that motor.
They made a flex fuel helephant 170 it’s finna drop
My superstock makes more power than the 170. E85, lower pulley 2.67 upper Id 1300 boost a pump, 108 Tb
About 1070 crank hp at 23 psi boost. Cost me about 4500 I think in parts lol.

Smart move! The Demon 170 will not be as collectible as the 2018. It did not come with a crate or anything AND as you pointed out they're selling the engine online. Also you can throw some bolt on and a tune on a hellcat and achieve the same numbers
The 170 will be more collectable because it's a better car, it didn't come with a crate because it comes with everything all ready to go (skinny's upfront, Mickey's in the rear). The point is if you can get it at sticker or a tad over it's worth it, but it's not worth those ridiculous markups they are asking.
@markurbancowboy well as for it being a better car time will tell, but there is nothing specific on the 170 that you can't buy online, whereas the 2018 is demon specific with certain things for example the items in the crate. Again.. its faster sure... but thats it in my opinion. Definitely not worth 250k that's just nuts lol

Not by a long shot. People running low 9's in average conditions on their 1st passes at the track with the 170's; you had to have the perfect conditions to even get into the 9's with the original.

Smart choice, many people were thinking what you thought but they bit the bullet and did it anyway. Start choice, but, when they release the demon 170 crate engine you must buy one and put it in a car you own imo
Dude you did the right thing, everyone who paid those big markups are gonna lose money; if you can get it at sticker that's the ticket.
I think it didn't live up to the hype especially with the dealers trying to get these crazy markups this car will never be driven or enjoyed it's going to be stored in a barn and going to get sold in a few years

With those 100K and 200K markups it will take many years for those buyers to even break even, if they ever do. The dealerships are taking their appreciation up front with the markups. A RUclipsr took his recently bought Demon 170 to the dealership to get an appraisal on it and they told him they are not in the market for one. Lol, the dealerships know the true value of these cars and are not gonna pay over msrp for them.
You can buy a superstock and spend 20k and do the same thing, go as fast make even more power.
The Hellephant is a 426 cid, 4.125 bore x 4.000 stroke. the demon 170 is 376 cid. The same supercharger. In theory the larger engine should have more rpm potential. Could be why is $2k more. Who knows.
I had one on order from a local CO dealer, until they called and said it was $100K over MSRP. Told them to stick it.
I would have been in at $50K over.
I love how now cars that use to cost 20.000ish now somehow cost 5 times more ..even though they still contain the same parts as when the junk was 20.000.
Hard pass with $100,000 ADM. My dealer told me I could have their allocation but didn’t know the pricing. Then the dealer meeting happened and they wanted $100k over. Then $75k. I told them I would go big and do $25k over. But they declined. Somebody paid $75k over. All good. I like my 2018 Demon just fine. Good move walking.
100k mark up is crazy my buddy got one for 5k over. Red on red looks bad i would have done tan or black on inside if stuck on red outside. Looks like a demon or hellcat to me. Is there any body changes or motor its the same motor right ?
There’s a reason it’s 10k for the sunroof it’s so they can make up for the $ they loose on some option racing wheels
If you place an order online for a vehicle and signed a contract for the final amount you got online, dealer legally cannot try to sell the vehicle for more than the price you got when you placed your order. If a dealership tries to get more money for the car than what the purchase order says, that may be a breach of contract. If you placed the order and just put your deposit for it but didn’t signed anything, dealer can change the price before you pick up the vehicle. Had a guy that placed an order for a 2023 Corvette and since he signed the contract when the car arrived at the dealership he had 48 hrs to pick up the vehicle and take it at price he ordered. He picked it up, put 40k down, financed the difference of the price he got online and took it home.

100K markup! No way, plus they never told anyone that the speed was capped at 149 mph. I took my 2013 Shelby GT500 to Germany and drove that car the way it was designed, no limiter and over 200 mph on occasion and it was legal to do it. I also hit the tracks a couple of times. It was the best 6 years of my life!
Just saw two of these in AZ, one for $271k and the other at $275k. $150,000 dealer markup on both.

Nice car, and If you're a gambler and willing to set on the car for a year or two while keeping the mileage under 100 miles or less. It's possible to make a few dollars or get your money back. The automotive collectors market is up and down. For me personally. I would pass on a car marked up $100,000. Since it sounds like you going to use the car. The higher the mileage. The lower the resale.
It appears RacerX purchased his Demon 170 at MSRP. Surprising considering the markups I'v seen.
If you want a Hellaphant engine you can have one right now. JL Motorsports has a 1250 hp Hellaphant.

There are plenty of people willing to pay $100k over MSRP. This is a collector car that has a unique market. What I think is criminal was when dealers wet putting market adjustments on regular cars like Camry’s.
Wow! That’s almost a quarter million dollars! For me, I wouldn’t invest a penny over $25 Tops. My opinion is given hard experience, there’s no “Fleet” of Dodge’s worth that kind of money. Again, I’ve owned a couple and that’s why I’m No Dodge fan, or any Chrysler product either.

The markup makes it unobtainable for most. But it's also what will help the car keep its value.
It's a challenger it will NEVER be worth 250 and the most people will get out of it is 200 thousand miles before having to replace the engine
@Hellcatdreams Value is based on demand. People are paying the markups and I suspect the reason why dealers made the deposits refundable is because they can sell them regardless.

Racer X is a true drag racer... of course, he didn't order his 170 with the sunroof, leather seats, and Harmon Kardon audio... he realizes that the Demon 170 is a factory built drag car that comes standard with one cloth driver seat, the sound deadening, and truck carpet removed, among many other weight saving measures... he stuck with the lightweight cloth interior, no sunroof spec... the way a Demon 170 is supposed to be... if it was just up to the engineers that built the car and the corporate bean counters had no say, the lightweight one-seat/cloth seats spec is the only way the car would come...
Racer X bought his at MSRP....around $120,000! He didn’t get the Carbon Fiber wheels which are $13,000! For MSRP A DEAL otherwise it is outrageous! Hellephant 426 Supercharged Mopar Crate HEMI and with an MSRP of $29,995 and just 100 units produced, it sold out in less than two full days.

When you spec your Demon 170 I thought you went bananas with the sunroof option which to me is just extra weight for the race car that makes completely no sense and double the nonsense knowing the price but at least at the end you make a great decision refusing to complete the purchase in my opinion good move. There are still 60 not taken allocation for demon 170 so maybe there is a still chance to get one for the lower price
All my cars have sunroofs I like the look of it that's the reason why I paid the extra money for it which is ridiculous of what they're charging to put one of those in there but at the end of the day a quarter $250,000 for the car it's not worth it

Not a chance in Hell I would pay 100K over sticker, that's just sheer greed from the dealerships, screw them. Those that do pay that I just consider stupid and I refuse to follow their channels or support them in anyway. You did the right thing, next year just buy the engine and you can build a car faster and for far less. Make sure you rub it in that dealers face when you get the car done. You could buy that 170 new, pay the 240K, put it on a rack for 20 years and it STILL wont be worth 240K. 100K at best in 20 years.

Dude you did the right thing by not giving away future appreciation, because its doing depreciate first then it will take 30 to 40 year before it will even reach the price that those doe doe birds at the dealership were going to sell it at, and even the baby brain people that paid that hefty sum over MSRP for these cars after the 500 mile brake in, won't be able to then turn around and sell them for what they paid, so in conclusion you made a wise choice.
Its only worth MSRP dodge should've done a better job at stopping the price gouging but at this point it seems like they are working together with the dealers to make more $$$
