Hey guys love the channel! Wondering why Survival of the Fittest didn't make the list. Before the reserve list buyouts it was already approaching $100 and for good reason. That card doesn't just end games it destroys games.
Okay there have been a lot of comments about random enchantments but here is one we actually definitely missed 😅 Whoops! Survival of the Fittest is insane
@@NitpickingNerds Mh yeah, as soon as I saw the title of the video I though "ok, Survival of the Fittest must be like number 1 or 2". But I've also been thinking a lot about Survival lately, cause I would really like to get one but it's sooo expensive 😅
On my group-hug-but-stab-on-the-back Meletis duo, I run: Search for Azcanta, Mirri's Guile, Sylvan Library, Sensei's Divining Top, Land Tax and Scroll Rack. Bad drawing? No more.
Fun interaction with Song of the Dryads: you can use Vesuva to copy the Song'd permanent, and it comes in as the original permanent, so it's effectively a Clone effect that can't be countered.
@@hiddenleaf414 yes it works with imprisoned in the moon as well. All that matters is that the enchanted permanent is a land. Thesbian Stage/Vesuva will be able to copy it. Side note when using song of the dryads as removal, any multicolored deck can potentially get rid of it with a bounce land.
Since it wasn't even in your honorable mentions, I can now officially say that evolutionary leap is the most underrated enchantment in all of commander
Beast whisperer, lets you draw the card even if the spell gets countered. Also, song of the dryads has an awesome interaction with vesuva and thespian stage.
Landtax is kinda always good since there will be at least one green deck ramping across the table, even if you got first. It's kinda a soft ancestral recall.
@@baconoftheark Not sure if it's the best idea to slow your own game plan down just so the Land Tax guy doesn't draw his/her lands. In the end, it's not ramp, just card advantage. But for Remora, Rhystic Study and the like, I totally get the point.
Don't forget the powerful Land Tax + Zuran Orb interaction. These two also make Armageddon ten times more effective, and one good land sweep is enough to flip a game in your favor.
Land Tax enables a lot of ridiculous draw engines if you combine it with effects that put cards back in your deck. I play it with Scroll Rack to turn my lands into cards and then get the lands back to do it again next turn.
I think some that could have made the list in no order: 1. Moat- in right shell 2. Earthcraft 3. Survival of the Fittest 4. Burgeoning 5. Defense of the Heart (if 2 piece combo) 6. Stasis- Can be CEDH.... HM- I quite like Wild Growth. 0 cost dork if 2 lands in play
One thing you can do with sylvan library is play it while you have abundance down and it basically turns into draw three cards during your draw phase. Since if you trigger abundance's ability it bypasses the pay life cause on sylvan library.
I'm a little surprised that Concordant Crossroads wasn't on the list. That card is a banger in my play group, but it is no where near the power level of cards like Rhystic Study and the like.
Had a random thought for a potentially fun topic: good decks that play bad cards. Like, good commanders that have synergy with otherwise unplayable cards. Also, glad to finally see people putting Smothering Tithe above Rhystic Study. I’ve been saying it.
LOL That would be my Mogis Slug-chantment deck in a nutshell. So many horrible Rakdos ''stax'' enchantment effects with MLD as a finisher so you get left with my board of horrible Enchantments and Mogis, which does kill me also because misery loves comfort. I don't always win but it is sure funny.
Nice list. Next to the before mentioned Survival of the Fittest I was probably missing Sneak Attack. Cheating creatures on the board with haste for one Mana is increadibly strong - keeping these creatures with a commander like Obeka, Brute Chronologist or cards like Sundial of the Infinite for super value. It's usually kill on sight and probably at the power level of Pattern of Rebirth.
Coolest thing about Sylvan Library - you don’t have to put cards back if you had draw-replacement effects for all cards you drew that turn (maybe you had an upkeep step draw), such as dredge or Underrealm Lich.
...And that, guys, is why Feed the Swarm is the best card ever printed for grixis lol Anyways, I haven't seen the video yet, that's my top15, let's se how much it differs from yours :) (Also i'm only including enchantments, not auras or creature enchantments and things like that, i dunno if you included those in the video) 1) Rhystic Study 2) Smothering Tithe 3) Zendikar Resurgent 4) Land Tax 5) Search for Azcanta 6) Leyline of the Void 7) Sylvan Library 8) Doubling Season 9) Exploration 10) Rhytm of the Wild 11) Blood Moon 12) Sanguine bond 13) Dictate of Erebos 14) Felidar Retreat 15) Pernicious Deed (My list is based only on my personal experience -mostly AGAINST those enchantments- and preferences)

This is a good comment, I can understand not including 500 dollar reserved list cards as this list then wouldn't be useful for the average player learning about new cards to add to the deck, but cathars crusade, reclamation and dictate of erabos is fantastic to add
@@TheSynisterMinister well, dictate is decent but not amazing, as many decks either run very few creatures, or a ton of sac fodder. Crusade is also good, but it's just good, it does't do much apart from make big dudes. you need a way for them to get through. Grave pact is great though, same with season
On of my all time favorite enchantments is Rite of the Raging Storm, love making interactions between players, i feel the card is just missing a "the lighting rager must attack each combat" function tho
The Abyss, Parallax Wave, Parallax Tide, Survival of the Fittest, Humility, Stasis, Frozen Aether/Kismet, Moat and his younger brother Teferi's Moat, Mirari's Wake, Detention Sphere/Oblivion Ring, Island Sanctuary, Defense of the Heart, Sterling Grove, Opalescence, Leylines (pick one really, I prefer black and white ones), Trade Routes, Dream Halls, Solitary Confinement and Mind over Matter are some quick ones that poped up in my head that would trump most stuff in this list, but... you might also want to include all of the color shut down ones, Back to Basics, Blood Moon, Choke, Chill, Karma, and such.
Sylvan library + a deck that can consistently shuffle every turn, all for 1G, is pretty phenomenal. If it’s a cascade deck or miracles or has a lot of life gain etc, this is one the best value cards in the format. I play a lot of maelstrom wanderer and Omnath, LoC so maybe I’m just bias having experienced the ceiling of sylvan library so often.
One of my favorite enchantments as a creature based player is Asceticism. The first time I saw that card it was everything I wanted on an enchantment. I used to think Land Tax wasn’t a good card. Put it in my Dragonlord Ojutai Voltron/Control edh deck. The last 3 times I played Land Tax it cleared out all my basics so I was only drawing/anticipating gas.
Kismet and Frozen Aether are strong contenders against the taxing effect of Blind Obedience. 1 additional mana to hit lands, but you lose the Extort ability is worth it. Personally, I love seeing my opponents fetches come in tapped, and turning dual lands into slow lands.
Land Tax & Sylvan Library should be higher on this list. While they don’t have the raw power that Necropotence has, they’re effects add up really fast. Sylvan Library is especially good since green probably has more incidental shuffle effects than any other color, so you continually reset your library. An early and unanswered Library often runs away with games.
Joe: "Necropotence is Bonkers", soooo... Insane Totally insane Bonkers.... we need a Joe Cherries 1-10 power scale rating system for cards. Bonkers is 10 :)
Besides the Survival snub this is a pretty good list - albeit it focuses more on solid staples than maybe just really powerful enchantments? Maybe there's a case for cards like Intruder Alarm, Mind Over Matter, Stasis etc. for sheer game-warping, winning you the game as quickly as possible from the moment you play them-power (well, except Stasis for that - but it's obviously incredibly powerful).
Pattern of rebirth - if sword to plowshared; it's exiled not killed, therefore no trigger. Likely most will run exile on this one, it eats up their path or sword. But still would consider running with enchantment recursion.
"I think the rhystic part is the Blue" there was a rhystic cycle for each color, it's the Study that's blue haha. Love the video guys. Get it, study? Blue? Oh nvm lol
Was kind of expecting Survival of the Fittest to be among these cards. Any reason it was left out? I feel it is much better than a guardian project or sylvan library, but that could just be me?
Once I realized Survival wasn’t on the list it definitely made me question some of the choices even more. Guardian Project and Growing Rites are clunky and only good in combo groups with 0 or limited interaction. Song of the Dryads is good, but arguably not as good as something like Oblivion Ring. Grasp of Fate is MILES better than Song of the Dryads.
I thought Burgeoning would be in for sure. 1 drop whenever an opponent plays a land you play a land from your hand, is so much ramp for so little cost. If you drop it turn 1 and you started the game if you had 3 lands in hand it would be you are on turn 5 while everyone else is in turn 2.
LOL In my CEDH group Sylvan Library was great till they realized that my Xenagos deck deals an average 30+ damage, yes I got countered but when I finally hit someone on the 95% blue board...Fatality. Greater Good brings back memories of younger me making my mono green Urza Saga block deck with Weatherseed Treefolk, sacrificing to draw 5, keep 2, Weatherseed returns to hand rarely did my opponent permanently remove a Weatherseed Treefolk. I was buying Itlimoc's at 5-7$ now its 20$+, I mean it is just a fixed Gaea cradle... Aura Shards is a must in Ghave, the abuse oh the abuse... BTW did you see that Grave Titan is being printed in a Secret lair?
U could use raze or cleansing wildfire to destroy your creature with song of the dryad on it. These cards are essential if your opponant uses maze of ith and similar lands anyway
Isn’t there a card that makes all lands or all lands opponent controls islands? I think not only is that a dirty dirty lock out but would combo that ramp enchantment.
I've played both in my Muldrotha deck, but i think I prefer Defense of the Heart over Pattern of Rebirth. There's just that feel bad that your opponents have when they realize they just gave you the game by playing creatures. Definitely not "better" due to the drawbacks and conditions, but still so much fun
I like how you guys can disagree about something like aura shards and then the topic gets sussed out even more. I feel like most other content creators shy away from discussions like that, at least on camera. You guys have a knack for contradicting each other without making it awkward. My wife and I could take a lesson from you 😂
One of my favorite memories of EDH is my Orzhov Aristocrats deck not having a good day at all and falling asleep through everyone's turns while I was stacking 2, 3... then 9 treasure with Smothering Tithe, nobody had enchantment removals, nobody bothered. Then at 9 I threw down Revel in Riches and suddenly everyone was struggling to pay the extra mana Do you... pay 2?
Aura shards is in token generation colors... it is perfect for removal with token generation. It shuts down enchantment heavy decks. Especially when paired with your cathars crusade to make the beefy tokens, and wipe out all your opponents enchantments and artifacts.
I feel like sylvan library is infinitely better with fetches, after every fetch you get to see the top 3 again, benefits more from multicoloured decks I suppose, running more shuffles seems to benefit it way more.
It's not top 15 but Kaya's ghostform is really good to. Prob top 45? Idk for sure. It's an amazing protection piece and can sometimes let you take control of enemy creatures DEFENSE OF THE HEART?!?!?
@@NitpickingNerds these are all better than blind obedience. That card doesn’t do anything. Omniscience is more powerful than growing rites or smothering tithe.
I play Aura Shards in my Big Cat's Tribal deck and my favorite card to run with it is Nacatl Warpride. Every time you attack you basically just blow up all the artifacts on the board that aren't yours and everyone just gets pissed lol
I love Song of the Dryads. If all your creatures have forest walk, not only does this card serve as a Trojan horse, you can also remove the greatest threat on the table. Kill two birds with one stone.
I would love there would be a white Narset/hullbreacher type enchantment. Or something close to opposition agent. It is crazy that white is supposed to be the enchantment color and the stax color and it doesnt have the bests enchantments or stax cards.
No love for green huh? Survival of the fittest, birthing pod, defense of the heart, etc...... Oh well, at least you chose pattern of rebirth. Great list guys!!
I won't disagree. If you guys ever wanna just go over a topic I would love to see what the best reanimation cards just in general. I must say I have been playing for only a few years but I'm glad I found this gem of a RUclips channel. Thank you for replying means a lot!
Not only is Mystic Remora really good, but compared to most of these other enchantments, it’s pretty budget. The price to quality ratio on it is hard to beat.
You can do a little lifehack when Land Tax is in your opening hand and you go 1st: start your turn, draw the card in your drawstep, hold priority and immidiately pass the turn! For more MTG hacks follow me on instagram 👌🏻.
I said this in the comments of the commander quarters video that he posted today but I think it applies here more. I don't know why but my entire playgroup has stopped using Necropotence. Like they're not even using it in their high-powered decks anymore. I know at one point each of us had one of them but most of us have them sitting in our trade binders and one of us even sold it to their game store to buy cards for a new deck. I took mine out of the deck it was in because triple black was too difficult to pull off in my blue heavy Grixis deck but even then I thought I was making a mistake. Seriously it makes no sense that nobody plays it anymore and I don't know why this has happened.
I think land tax and sylvan are too slow, and smothering tithe is too high. Tithe is an amazing card, but is it better then filtering all of your draws for the rest of the game or going +3 for one mana? Prolly not
Sometime I prefer growing rites of ithama over gaeas cradle. Mainly early game. When you have no creatures. Most folks hate burning enchantment hate on it. Where everyone loves to take 35 cent card to blow up 1200$ land. So many times I play gaeas cradle and it been tec edge, strip mines stone rain I play glowing and they like I am saving my land destruction for the expensive card.

I like using Greater good in my hydra deck with the Ozlith. To keep passing counters to draw more.
I think you are missing some of the old but really strong enchantments like Moat, Nether Void, The Abyss and drop of honey.
It's an amazing protection piece and can sometimes let you take control of enemy creatures
DEFENSE OF THE HEART?!?!?
What about:
Minds dilation
Lurking predators
Sunbirds invocation
Omniscience
Wild pair
Maelstrom nexus
As foretold
Precognition field
Vampiric rites
Grave pact
Dictate of erebos
Martyrs bond
Most of those cards are pretty good but they don't really stand up to the cards on the list power wise
@@NitpickingNerds these are all better than blind obedience. That card doesn’t do anything. Omniscience is more powerful than growing rites or smothering tithe.
I strongly prefer “paperweight” effects, like Song of the Dryads or Reprobation over Oblivion Ring or detainment cards like Arrest.
LOVE the "Glitch" on 4:11 LOL awesome!
I've seen the glitch like 25 times :D LOL so hilarious!
Necropotence number 1? I would have never guessed. The only hint was in every time they've mentioned draw in black.
I play Aura Shards in my Big Cat's Tribal deck and my favorite card to run with it is Nacatl Warpride. Every time you attack you basically just blow up all the artifacts on the board that aren't yours and everyone just gets pissed lol
I bought both these cards for a Jetmir deck a week apart and when I was sleeving them up it occured to me how frustrating this card is going to be
I love Song of the Dryads.
Birthing pod is an artifact but survival was something we just missed
No love for Repercussions? It's amazing in any sort of Red burn deck, especially given all the tribal decks used in EDH.
Aura Shards + Enchanted Evening..... add in Archon of Sun's Grace for the most ridiculous one sided board wipe you'll find in an enchantress deck.
I think they kept necropotence unbanned because they banned Yawgmoth’s Bargain.
My favorite enchantment is Burgeoning. I play it over exploration.
Burgeoning is also really good, especially with card draw too
May I ask what do you guys think of doubling season ? Loved the video honestly just was thinking for commander that would bd in top 10 lol.
It might be top 25 or something like that, but it's kinda clunky
I won't disagree. If you guys ever wanna just go over a topic I would love to see what the best reanimation cards just in general. I must say I have been playing for only a few years but I'm glad I found this gem of a RUclips channel. Thank you for replying means a lot!
You know whats pretty great with aura shards? Grave Titan!
Just play Weaponcraft Enthusiast!
@@NitpickingNerds goddamnit...... GET OUT OF HERE!
The thing with mystic remora is that drawing a card is good but not pay 4 mana to prevent it good
My favorite combo is, dump kozilek great distortion turn 1 to grave, animate dead turn 2, necropotence turn 3, infinite counters turn 3
Been looking into playing edh over discord, is there some sort of camera mount to have a nice view of the table below? Great vid btw.
I'm not sure about the exact details but I'm sure if you hopped in our discord some of the guys there could help you out
18:26 the answer to that question is not Gaea's Cradle, correct answer is "Island"
Gaea’s Cradle > island
@@NitpickingNerds lies, stop misleading the Timmys out there. Blue decks far more OP than any green deck with cradle! :P
@@NitpickingNerds also, if i may "nitpick" (ehhhh, ehhh!) I think leaving underworld breach off the list is an oversight!
Land tax in orzhov reanimator is also great. Discard engine without discard effect.
An enchantment I love to use is Tranquil Grove. It answers other enchantments and stays on the table.
It is solid
Doesn't come in foil - dead card. :)
I love the way you put that, "I think the format would be better without it, still the best format ever" :D
So what is your problem with Sol Ring?
Very good Entchantments, but im still suprised Survival of the fittest didnt even reach the Top 15.
Not only is Mystic Remora really good, but compared to most of these other enchantments, it’s pretty budget. The price to quality ratio on it is hard to beat.
It is weird to me how cheap it actually is but it was a common
Confounding Conundrum is my pick for one of best enchantments in edh
It's a really good one
"rhystic study isn't a fun card."
To me, it's fun when I'm the one playing it! Mwahahaha!
Great vid, friends!
You can choose to not play land for turn when you have land tax. This means the next person goes first.
Sylvan library and land tax are both good on turn 6 or 7
I think Survival of the fittest is better than both rhystic study and Smothering tithe. Also no Animate dead?
Aura shards is just crazy good in Rhys the redeemed decks
The commander costs 1 AND you have a lot of tokens
I find the lack of Shared Fate... disturbing. Haha great list knew for sure Necropotence was gonna be number 1
itlamoc is actually better than cradle. it taps for 1 mana. so when someone immediately board wipes it isn't a dead land.
You can do a little lifehack when Land Tax is in your opening hand and you go 1st: start your turn, draw the card in your drawstep, hold priority and immidiately pass the turn!
For more MTG hacks follow me on instagram 👌🏻.
Grave Pact, Goblin Bombardment, Impact Tremors, Exquisite Blood, Earthcraft, Prosh as Commander and lose all your friends:)
That's pretty weird, I wonder if it is a coincidence in your metas? Either way if nobody is playing it that's more wins for the people who do! lol
Thank you for the loud noise warning. I have earbuds in.
