(example: friendlies moving in, friendlies at your six, etc.) A.S.A.P (As Soon As Possible) (Not really sure if this expression has a military origin) Wingman En route Rendezvous Just to clarify: most of these expressions I've heard them in popular media (movies, videogames, etc.), as for I'm not from the USA so my knowledge about the US Armed Forces comes from what I've read, seen or heard.
Roger that. Thanks sir! You lesson will definitely be useful when we are in the trenches with natives. We are not going to withdraw we'll repel any offenses.
Roger that, teacher. Today my country has lost a hero in military. I’m so surprised because your topics are military and combat. You can imagine that’s why we called him the hero because he had shoot 7 aircraft enemies in the war between Vietnam and United States. Thanks and hope you have a wonderful day.
Exciting and useful video, congrats! We use some of these exact sentences (literary translation) in Italian: in the trenches, no man's land, and on the front lines. I use roger to mean "si, ricevuto," yes, understood, in Italian, when talking at the radio in a semi-professional context, as in a K9 search and rescue team or as a first responder ski patroller.
Hello from France! - I caught a lot of flak for telling the truth about my roommate! - You'd better go to the boss on the double. -Roger that!! Thanks a lot, Wes!!!
First of - THANK YOU. My apologies for not knowing the right spelling of your name, Sir (Wez, Wess, Wes ?) It's interesting that today I heard the phrase "BOUGHT THE FARM" while watching the 1987 The Quick and the Dead" movie (not the 1995 one). It goes : "...and if we hear a shot, we'll know you've bought the farm". This one is about the times way before the World War II (pilgrims in the Wild West) . I guess, the lingo may travel back in the nowadays cinematography ))) THANKS again for your lessons.
Hi Wes today Nein roger that... Or maybe I'm in bad mood I'll watch the lesson again...thank you for helping our bad English i hope i can meet you in Us
Hi Wes, all your lessons are very fascinating indeed. I what to ask you about this word "check on"? Is it irritating to say " I only meant to check on you and say hi"?
Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoy our lessons. To "check up on (someone)" means to see how someone is doing and make sure they're okay. So it's okay to say "I wanted to check up on you and see how you were doing?" (Perhaps if someone is going through a difficult time). 😊
Roger that! This was great fun!!! I absolutely fall for SNAFU and TARFU ...! 😊 I like 'on the double' and to 'bite the bullet' too, I instantly got what the latter is about, because in my native language we say something like 'to bite the sour apple' in this kind of situation. We also use the american "Roger...!" in an funny/ironical way (we leave the "that" out, I have no idea, why this is the case). Ah, btw. your pronunciation of 'Fliegerabwehr' was r e a l ly good! In 'Kanone' you have to stress the second syllable, it is Kanóne (big stress there). Hope this was helpful to you. So thank you for this joyful lesson, and have a great day! 👍
Thanks so much for your comment. And thanks for checking my pronunciation as well. 😉 Glad you enjoyed the lesson & hope you learned some new phrases. 😃🎉
@@InteractiveEng I did! Very enjoyable and informative lesson! And it just came to my mind, why germans may leave the "that" out - they have trouble pronouncing the "th"! 😄 😆 That's how people are!
It was a fantastic lesson, I didn't think you can come up with it. I have heard a few expressions, I could have guessed the meaning of a couple of these expressions but I didn't know all of them. This lesson was really interesting including the part that you showed from Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise. Can you override this lesson ever?
