You are an excellent teacher and I have gotten to understand all your videos. I say It because I can not speak English very well, I am learning with your videos and they are very excellent and I feel that I getting to understand more in every video. I'm very grateful for your videos , your interest and the excellent teaching. Many thanks again!!!!!
A good teacher knows his subject, Adam may know english, but he clearly doesn't know the US military. He needs to do his homework. This video has a lot of mistakes.
5 branches not 4, The united States has a Coast Guard. Marines are not soldiers. He got most of the ranks wrong in regards to the navy. There are no colonels, majors, sergeants or privates in the navy. Most grenades are not shot out of guns. Sanctions are political not military. Drill instructors train people in boot camp (basic training) Not all drill instructors are sergeants. Guerillas and other irregular combatants do no wear uniforms, rules maybe, maybe not. Most wars are not fought by air. Ground forces are not automatically soldiers, marines and seals fight on the ground too. I believe the word he is looking for is troops.
thank you for your explaining but i m Egyptian and i think the coast Guard is apart of army .....thank you again for useful information about U S arrmy
Adam, excellent english lesson. You were highly recommended by student here in Spain. CJ in VG Spain. I am using your lessons for my classes with local military students. Bravo Zulu. Job well done!!!
Do not listen to this guy he doesn't know what he's talking about, plus these aren't even military terms aside from the whole ranks and insignia which he got wrong.. Do you'll research somewhere else this guy isn't worth hearing
Thanks Adam , now i can easily Improve my English skills level for free, and this is because of you and the stuffs who work with you and produce the great videos of this channel .Great Job and go on Dear Teacher . with Respect from Iran ت
.Good job. thanks to remind me the days when i was instructor at School of Infantry and tactics in Quetta Pakistan .long live Adam enjoy good life Syed Imdad Hussain Shah Pakistan.
Great lessons from a great teacher, as usual. For being a civilian (and a Canadian!), Adam knows rather well the US Military and the world of weapons. I just report here following a couple of small contributions for the people interested in this topic. The Marine Corp is actually a part of the Navy. In many countries, this corp is called "Navy Infantry" (in my country, Italy, it is called "Fanteria di Marina"). So, there are three "Military Forces" (Army, Navy and Air Force), not four. A ballistic missile is actually... ballistic: it does not have a guidance system. It just follows a ballistic trajectory. Nevertheless, its "re-entry vehicles" (the actual atomic bombs) usually have one (GPS-based or the like). Anyway, still a great lesson. I look forward to see a lesson devoted to the world of Police, Investigation and Legal affairs (I'm a fan of Law&Order, CSI, Bones, The Mentalist and many others TV series related to crime and police...)
Alessandro Bottoni In the United States the Marine Corps is a separate branch. However, like you stated they do work closely with the navy. Though, technically there are five branches...the Coast Guard should be included.
Vets can easily distinguish if you are one of them or not. He made a lot of errors in dialect and terminology that are instilled in any fighting force from basic training and never forgotten.
Hello Adam, thank u very much for helping us to learn war and military words they are really useful because we are in a world whereby a lot of confilicts and wars are happening.
Can you tell me if you have some advice for me to make my english better ? I'm already watching American series without subtitles (Simpsons for example) I'm reading a little bit and I understand the story but not each word, there's some difficult word in books ^^ , I'm still processing .. And finally videogames help me very well cuz my xbox settings are in english so when I play I have the informations of the game and the voices in english, I'm watching videogame's commented gameplays on youtube ... Can I go further or that's enough ? I've also scheduled a trip in UK for the summer vacation :)
Absolutely brilliant, Adam! I work with armed security forces so your lesson is of paramount importance to me. Note : the word conflict is missing the 'l'
Thanks Adam for such an interesting video. You are a great teacher. It seems that you were a cadet before and have a good general knowledge of the military. I'd like to clarify a couple of the terms that you mentioned in the video. 1) Second colonel. The correct term seems to be lieutenant colonel, which ranks between a full colonel and a major. 2)) Boot camp. It has two meanings. The first meaning is a correctional facility that is used for disciplining the soldiers who broke the rules, especially during the war. The second meaning is a training camp, however, the term basic training camp is more commonly used for this purpose. In terms of US military rank system, if you plan to update the video, I would suggest adding brigadier general, vice admiral, first lieutenant, above the second lieutenant and below the captain that you mentioned in the video. This is just from the top of my head and hope it may be useful for you.
Thanks a lot ! Im a french guy and I learn more with your lessons than at school. We're studying useless things :'( Your lessons are useful I appreciate them :D
well done Mr. ADAM .. really I do not know how to thank you So I think every words are a few to describe you ..Just I will say may allah bless you and increse us more of you ...

A missile can also be a device that has it's own sensor (electronic eye) to see the target and adjust the fins (=steering the missile) in order to get there. There are also missiles that can be employed against maneuvering (=moving) targets; like an aircraft that attempts to evade the missile. These usually have its own on-board sensor and an advanced computer system to enhance the likelihood the missile hit its target.

Thanks a lot for your videos, they're rather helpful. As for the topic of this video - what about infantry, is this the same as ground forces?
It kind of related to ground forces. Infantry means "foot soldiers" who operate on the ground.
AWOL is an example of an acronym. POW, KIA, and MIA are initialisms as you pronounce each letter separately.
