Oh… well, if it was someone’s ashes……. who ever scattered them over the flying Scotsman…. Obviously didn’t know there was going to be a camera placed on the front of the train. If that’s the case… i take back what i commented earlier. Thanks.
What an absolutely delightful video! Thank you so much for sharing! Such a shame about the imbecile who dropped something from atop the bridge! I'm assuming it was done deliberately, so if it was - shame on them! But despite that, the view is still rather clear, and it's still a great video! 😊🚂
Brilliant run and thoroughly enjoyed the scenic views and even the foul deed committed by some idiotic 'twat' from a bridge between Basingstoke and Reading didn't dampen my viewing.
@@12crepello they trying to recreate Thomas and the magic railroad scene then? Diesels with sugar, steamies with flour? disgusting what some people do. Good thing Scotsman is fitted with cameras now so the idiot will be found.
Hi LazerJet, I’ve been involved with mainline support crew duties for nearly 20 years now & had a railway background through my family so I’ve been lucky in a sense to be able to carry the tradition on. Unfortunately riding on an engine on the mainline isn’t an easy task as you need a PTS certificate which allows cab access & a sponsor for the PTS itself. The PTS is also renewed every 2/3 years too.
@@Shoddy127 oh i see... i Understand sorry if it was a Silly Idea... just always been a Dream to have a Cab Ride of Scotsman herself.. keep up the amazing Work wish you all the best.
Fabulous video, aboard such a fabulous, iconic, beautiful steam locomotive, but WHY oh WHY does she have to carry those ghastly German-style (of ALL things), smoke deflectors?? YUK! I think that, if Sir Nigel could see his so-perfectly designed and proportioned masterpiece disfigured in this way, he wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. I feel that it's comparable to some "bright" spark taking an A4, and chopping off everything around the smokebox, replacing it all with right-angled designs/box shapes, and proclaiming that it then looked perfect. Hmmmmmm. 75 m.p.h.?? 😉
Hi Roger, Thanks for the kind comment. The smoke deflectors are required to assist with the crews vision for keeping a look out & signals. This was how Scotsman looked back in the days of its BR reign so it’s not completely unauthentic, even more so as it has its double chimney.
A truly beautiful engine but please restore her back to her original number 4472 and give her back the apple green livery. Because that is her original garb!!!!!!!
Hi David, Thank you for the kind comment. The channel has grown considerably since I’ve started doing these videos as I think it provides something very different. I’m very lucky to be in the position to do this with Flying Scotsman & also the Black 5’s so whenever the opportunity arises I try to capture what I can. As to getting the channel out there, I guess it’s just down to people sharing the link & the videos getting searched on RUclips? Any hints & tips gratefully received though lol!
Absolutely silverwing & it wasn't until I saw the comment about it being someone's ashes that it really hit home that it could have been that. It was just a huge shock to see that happen.
And if we are all supposed to be dying from the poisonous effects of burning fossil fuel why is it all the vegetation alongside our roads, motorways and in this instance, railway lines is always so lush and verdant????
++@@jeffmiller3150++ Well goodness mee! Who'd've thought it? And there was me thinking we were all going to die of something nasty to do with coal fires, diesel engines and wood burning stoves in our living rooms.
An absolute master class of driving and firing 👏🏻👏🏻
Glorious 😊
Was onboard, absolutely fabulous!
Glad you had a good day!

Great ride, very enjoyable!

You can certainly hear the thump of Gresley's congugated gear.
I could listen to that Gresley beat all day 😊

Thank you for the comment Richard & glad you enjoyed the video!
Any idea of what speeds The Flying Scotsman achieved? She seemed to be really shifting along at times. Thank you for a fine video.
Scotsman is allowed to run up to 75mph so no more than that.
It looks like they dropped ashes?! 😕
To be fair, that’s something I didn’t even consider, a very good shout!
I think it was probably a bag of flour. Some thought it would be funny!!!🤬

Good stuff. You have surprsingly few subscribers and views. You need to hustle (don't ask me how you do this).

Yes… shame about the idiot who dropped the water bag from one of the bridges. But not all was lost thankfully.
Thankfully it wasn’t Peter, on discussion we’ve worked out it may have been someone’s ashes that were thrown off the bridge.
Shame about the actions, possibly, of a member of the Green Party half way through. Until then, the photography was excellent.
Who knows Mark but thanks for watching!
They look like ashes, maybe the persons last wishes therefore I don't class the person who dropped them as a idiot.
