Do you think that spring will last a lifetime? Contemplating on getting one but im worried about the spring. Im also not from the US so sending it for service is not an option
A lifetime? That is quite difficult to say. My oldest current Microtech is 5 years old and the spring is operating like it did the first day I got it back in January 2018. Same goes for all my other MTs.
Hey man one of my combat troodon's just broke I think...I went to fire it and I heard a slight SNAP! I tried pulling the blade out to fix it like I've done with a few of my microtech's when I get a misfire. But it wont get back on track. I have to wait until I get home to see if it is an easy fix but if worse case scenario I need a new part to you do repairs? I've seen a few of your videos where your fixing microtechs so I'm curious being I have heard horror stories of microtechs customer service, especially the warranty department. Have you ever encounter this problem before btw?
Microtech warranty shouldn't be an issue now, they've revamped their entire system. But it sounds like either the metal L-mount snapped or the spring hook. The spring hook you can bend back into place with small pliers and snips. You can always email us if you have additional questions
My dirac delta has a couple loose screws...I appreciate you saying you need the medium bit I'm guessing the "domed" version which I am looking at on bladeHQ..just one question well kinda a few lol. Will this same bit work on my combat troodon's and troodon? I know it's a loaded question but there isnt much consensus in the microtech screw game. Edit ok I just found your website and by chance do you have the bit you used on this video? I see the one that says will work on my ultratech combat troodon's and troodon but I'd rather buy one that works for my delta seeing as that is the knive that screws need tightening and I'd rather purchase from your company than BHQ...btw I might be ordering one of the cyphers you guys have in stock. WISH YOU HAD THE SCARAB II IN STOCK! 😡😡😡😡
Yes the bits we have will fit the Dirac Delta, but they won't fit the smaller Dirac. I wish we had more Scarab IIs, we only got in 4 and they are gone.
Did Microtech stop using the "flat tri wing" Dirac screw ? I just purchased a Microtech Bit Driver w/ 8 bits for my Ultratech & UTX's.. anyway there's a specific Dirac screw bit.. it's like their early tri wing screws BUT with tiny flat heads instead of tri cylindrical heads. Any insight to this bit ?
I don't use the Microtech Tool Kit/driver bits as often as my Wiha bits but I am soo thankful I talked myself into getting one month ms ago. They really work flawlessly for cleaning up my Microtech knives, even the odd ball Dirac bit fits like a glove. *Way too Much Money* however it's very nice.
Man, I would do almost anything for one of these dirac deltas. What a knife!
What’s your email I will buy you one
Have dirac love it small edc smooth and contour is perfect but have the delta on the way can't wait.
Great job there Mr. Dave. I’m picking one of these up at the Blade Show. See you there!
RW
We will see you there! The custom version of the Dirac Delta I bet will be amazing.
Great detail on this video 👍
@theHollowGrind could you do a video on taking apart the utx 85?
Do you like the Delta compared to the small Dirac ? Thanks for sharing your videos.🔪
The smaller Dirac I think feels better but if you want a combat troodon sized knife for less money the Delta is hard to beat
Any suggestions on how to keep the screw that holds the firing button from unscrewing/backin out? Lock-tight?
I haven't had that issue but blue loctite would work (not red loctite)

@@TheHollowGrind ok thanks for the speedy response good sir.
You have to have the “notch”to hold the whole assembly in place.
Love my delta
Hey David any estimate on when you will get the Dirac Delta in the OD Green color?
I've requested some but I don't know when they'll arrive yet

@@TheHollowGrind thanks for the tip I got the bit and it works for all my microtech's!!
Any reason why you didn’t put the lithium grease directly on the spring?
No reason, you can put it on the spring as well
Does anyone know if the spring is the same as the UT?
The spring should be the same as the Combat Troodon; I think the UT spring will be too short for this knife.
Great video thanks
Would you say it’s as tuff and rugged as a combat?
No, the combat is still better in that way. But this knife is no slouch.

The Dirac bit has three partially flat prongs that fit between the screw head and the handle body.
That kit has a bit that fits the dirac

VERY INTERESTING! I NEED 1 OF THOSE TAKE DOWN TOOLS! WHERE YOU GET YOURS AT?!
We have them available on our website, you can email us also
@@TheHollowGrind AWESOME! I WILL DEFINITELY BE GETTING 1. -OR 2.
Been having issues with this knife not firing all the way and the spring being difficult to fire sometimes. Maybe i should oil it?
No, oil may make it worse, you'd have to take it apart and clean it out or send it in to Microtech, if you bought it from us we can service it for you
Huge issue for me....
@@StinkyTeal I have a lifetime warranty on mine, but I still haven't sent it in yet. Little upset that a 400 plus dollar knife has issues like that.
What tools are you using?
I used a medium sized triwing bit, we have them for sale. These won't work on the smaller Dirac though
@@TheHollowGrind What kind of driver?
@@TheHollowGrind Do you have tools for combat T. And halo 6
@@nikst7463 yes we have the tools for both, just give us a call or email
What kind of grease do you use?
Any kind of fluorinated grease will do; I didn't look for a specific brand but the syringe was convenient.
You make it look so easy. Good video.
Way past my skill level though.🙃
It isn’t. It isn’t hard at all.
If you know how screws work then it shouldn’t be that hard… lol
