      California homelessness and Child poverty rate are highest in entire country. Causes are regulations, lack of affordable housing, unemployment, poverty, mental illness and lack of needed services, substance abuse and lack of needed services. According to statistics 60 percent family of 4 median income in California is is $48,415, meanwhile in order to get by in California the recommend annual income for a single person is $74,371. This is proof that our government is a total failure when it comes to the homeless. I've lived in Los Angeles for 60 years and have never, never seen it as bad as it is now. Venice has always been dicey with the homeless and "free spirits" walking around. But now it is way out of control and dangerous. Quiet suburbs in L.A. now have homeless people with mental health issues. Yet when the residents voice concern and object to these conditions in their communities they get shammed by the left and Garcetti just smiles and says things will get better. And why should he worry. He and his family has 24/7 armed security protection from the LAPD, as well as many of the elites that live in this city. Yet we poor unwashed slobs have to put up with the results of Garcettie's and Newsome's policies that are ruining this city and state.

      This is caused by the high cost of property and rents. The idea that property will continue to rise in value to the point of being unreachable to the average worker is happening everywhere. Most people buying homes are so indebt because of the property any disruption in pay they can not recover. So go ahead and make excuses but this is what happens when we would rather give people credit than pay raises.

    • @myopicchiwawa
      @myopicchiwawa 4 года назад +4

      @@keithsherri9096 response to dead people, and Joe as well. First, while it is frustrating to see billionnaires not paying the same tax rate as a secretary making a lot less ,RICH PEOPLE are NOT THE REASON why we have poor people. I work at a huge university and first to admit, salaries are low because college degrees are unaffordable for the 66% of Americans who want them. Then we have the bottom third who never cared about school, never turned in homework and dropped out of 10th grade. They are working minimum wage jobs or living off welfare for life. Homelessness hits these working poor and it becomes impossible for them to ever make it. A subset of our students are adults who realized late in life that college made sense instead of postponing it 20 years ago. A college degree increases lifetime earnings by at least $1,000,000, and a high income is one way to avoid homelessness. My wife was born in Europe where college is tuition free so kids who want to study can. Sadly, even when its free a portion of people ALWAYS refuse to take the college path and get railroaded to a lower income path. Also kids today take majors for skills nobody want. We have too many theatre majors or film majors and 70% of these kids won't ever make it in that industry. American kids hate engineering and science so we have to import kids from India and China. The average salary for an Indian immigrant is $100,000 per year. Why Americans dont earn qualifications to take these jobs is part of the problem.

A number of them have told me that they HATE staying in the shelter!☹ They give different reasons: rules, harassment, thefts, bed bugs/fleas, defecation in the shower stalls, no privacy, poor conditions, etc. I've been homeless. The good Lord removed me from that condition. It wasn't fun. However, it was a great learning experience. @@tictacterminator At least 5 years ago, there weren't so many people openly bragging about having very little compassion. 6 years ago is when Twitter developed enough political power to get SF DPW to spray homeless people in front of the building with high pressure street cleaning hoses in the middle of winter. One of them died of hypothermia. But it still took a few years after that for the massive normalization of Cluster B traits to spread from tech bros to the general population. This is definitely not the easiest place in the world, or even in the country, to get on your feet. By far. Maybe for somebody without normal human emotions, it would be a fun game.

Everyone works, and works damned hard to support their families, even the little kids. To all the people who argue that all the homeless are due to cost of living and lost jobs due to Covid… when’s the last time you saw a single white person sitting outside Lowe’s or Home Depot, ready and waiting to work??? NEVER! And you never will! These guys get up early in the morning, take a 2 hr bus ride far from the low income area where they live and can afford to pay rent, and go to the wealthy areas where even during a pandemic, rich white people are flooding into the stores to do their home-improvement projects, and will gladly pay these guys to do the hard, dirty work. You can tell yourself whatever makes you feel superior, just like all the homeless do who are “too smart” to slave away at a low-paying job just to pay bills and taxes. Aside from being drug addicts, the homeless now are all the lazy, spoiled, entitled idiots who were raised to believe they deserved everything for nothing, and that their failures were always someone else’s fault. When they find out it doesn’t work that way, like children they literally sit down on the ground and refuse to move.

      Alma, I most likely know more homeless then you. I have worked in the mental health field for 25+ years. I worked for 6 years with the homeless in Seattle, WA. Many of the "addicted" have underlying mental health issues and are using street drugs to self medicate, since our society deemed them disposable in the 1980's with deinstitutionalization policy under Regan. This resulted in dismantling the mental health care services in this country and why there are none now. Your idea of their families need to take care of them is simplistic at best. Many come from homes were the other family members have their own mental health issues. Others come from homes where the family can not cope/deal with the person's mental illness, and there is a lack of community support and resources for them to do so. With all that said, my original point was that the news report sidestepped the fact that it is a loss of jobs causing the increase now in homelessness and not the disease it's self, as implied, that is causing it.
