Hi Ervin. Going to try to resume the series again. Past weeks were rough since getting hired into helpdesk. Got my self confidence destroyed because i really have no idea on what to do during troubleshooting and is always asking for help. 3 months in and still got no proper training from the company. But i know that this is what the IT industry is and self learning is the way. Thank you very much for the videos and really helps people like me.
Hello Stephen. I feel your pain. I'm glad to see my videos are helpful. Yeah, some companies don't do a good job at training. The biggest issue is finding your way through procedures and getting organized in a new position. Learning IT stuff comes naturally after that. A lot of people who end up in IT make the biggest mistake - and that is not taking notes to keep track of everything that you do. This puts them into a position of constantly relying on others. It's perfectly okay to ask the same question once or twice, but if someone asks the 3rd time they didn't take any notes. I see this happening even with tenured employees often.
Hi Ervin, I have been following your videos for past 4 months. It’s increasing my confidence to face technical questions in job interviews. Hopefully, I will be successful soon.
Present, I usually have more access with windows admin center. But I’m taking a step back to be able to work with this great company. So I will start as a contractor in help desk and work my way up to field analyst and they pay very well
Hi Ervin..Excellent video and really informative..Helps a lot with people, like myself who have no idea what to expect when starting a job Also, these troubleshooting videos are great to talk about at a job interview Shows a potential employer that you are being proactive and showing a willingness to learn
Started my helpdesk job a little over a month ago and the most challenging thing for me is keeping the dialogue going with the caller, and this awkward “dead air” that happens at the end of the call- how do I avoid this? Also can you do a video on call etiquette and how to keep the dialogue/ how to properly speak to callers, etc?
Cobuman which are the interesting video's. I already have a basic because I did a graduate in System and Network engineering. I already saw AD with GPO, DNS, DHCP,... It is sometimes the little problems that clients have that I don't know how to solve. Like options for outlook or advice how to help customer in a good way.
Hi Cobuman Present! I have a request if you could please add a timeline on these videos between all the tickets you resolve so we know when is a ticket starting/finishing
I tried everything you suggested but it was just the mess up pc. I tried searching outlook on another pc using my credential and it worked perfectly. So I think I just need to reimage my pc. Thank you.
@@Cobuman Hi Cobuman, actually i started my career in helpdesk and i want to thank you for your videos, they are very helpful! @@rootzona The best thing you can say to someone stressed is "Don't worry we can help you" (let them talk first). Try this and people will come calm down right away. :) This way... even if you can't help them... tell them that you will find someone who can.
