    Many of Woj's sources were NBA GM's. Sometimes they would call him just to see if he's heard anything around the league they don't know about. Plenty of NBA trades would not have happened without Woj's insider information.

    I lived in Fresno in the 90s. The sports page was my first section. I got so sick of the opinionated reporting that it no longer was news. Because of this ass hat, I stopped reading newspapers all together. Shams having a personal interest in DraftKings and being involved in the skewing of bets for Scoot Henderson, fully destroys his credibility. They're not journalists, they're not reporters, they're only out to get the most money from their platform.

    Woj came to my school as a guest speaker and the whole time he had his phone on him checking if there was news while speaking and talked about how he wakes up every hour to check he really worked as hard as he possibly could, also another story he told, one time he tweeted JJ reddick contract I forget which and tweeted the number and was off by 500,000 simple typo he had so much pull that the team ended up paying JJ the amount woj said and not the amount they originally agreed on he really was 31st franchise.

    This guy pioneered the most cancerous style of journalism imaginable. And there is no coming back now: Shams is next but someone will have to rise to be the opposite force (so if franchise X is not in good terms with Shams then they will speak with the new guy).
    Two journalists basically influencing the whole league, leveraging players and franchises alike.

      It actually kinda lines up. Woj mainly talks with NBA GMs. A lot of GMs weren’t happy with how Lebron went to Miami in 2010. That’s probably how he got insider information with all the GMs. Also think about it, the only front office that hates Woj is Miami.

    The reason he quit is because the NBA players and front office personnel get paid so much money, that Woj cant afford to buy information from them, from their friends/family, or from their crew/bodyguards. Before the $300 million contracts, Woj could pay someones bodyguard $1000 to get inside information. After the $300 million contracts, security guards and entourages get paid so much, its not worth $1,000 to risk their livelihood...

    I’m sure WOJ is a fine dude, but I am kinda hoping some of the NBA toxicity leaves with him. Would love to get back to actual ball and ball talk instead of hot takes and this weird media ran/player empowerment era where players tell WOJ something about where they want to go or how they’re unhappy then deny it when he leaks it… just for them to then leave later and say they were unhappy. Hope we can get back to pure basketball and cut the off the court nonsense that’s plaguing it. But that crap brings headlines and Shams is just a young WOJ so I’m sure it’ll stay more or less then same
