Well I'm impressed with Slayer. They've done well to keep an edge, mostly avoided nu-metal and survived the metalcore storm. Of course they can't play like they used to, but I have a hell of a lot of respect for middle aged men who can play furious music like this. I bet some of the best 80's thrash bands would be an embarrassment compared to Slayer if they dared show their face in 2009. Except for Coroner... they would never fail.

I love both bands, and I cannot believe you said death magnetic is slow....and Metallica songs are more technically complex. You just think that fast tremolo picking is complex, when really you don't know the complexities of Metallica's work. I am a huge fan of both bands, but Metallica's solos are much more enjoyable and complex to me

i would say that they lost it after Cliff Burton passed away. they sounded WAY better until Master's after tat all the rest of the albums suck. Black album strted to sound a lot more pop rock if there is a term 4 it

I think the open riff is awesome, but the verse has this weird sort of happy sounding riff that doesn't realy sound like slayer
