I've read Lord of the Flies and 1984. Both highly accesdible "classics." Crime and Punishment is the first "classic" that really knocked me flat, but I can't be sure how most contemporary readers would get on with it. I'm told that I've been a grumpy old man with tastes to match since childhood.
I haven't read All Quiet on the Western Front yet, but I've heard many positive things. At present, my favorite of the few war novels I've read is The Red Badge of Courage.
I'm currently working on The Bhagavad Gita. I would argue that it's surprisingly universal and applicable once you get rolling with it, but there's a bit of an entry fee in that most readers will probably need to study a bit of contextual background to get oriented in the beginning.
Great video! Hope you have a nice weekend.

@@BryanM.R.-prionic1 always great seeing you here, excited to get into crime and punishment later this year. Read notes from underground and it made me want to read more

A tree grows in Brooklyn has been on my TBR for so long.... I'm curious to see when I'll finally get around to it.
I only know the movie Lord of the Flies and it definitely branded me. I was probably too young when I saw it for the first and last time. Very brutal... :(

@@CharlieCatHimself13 yes definitely very brutal, and the book has elements of that too.
Go with A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, it is such a good story, I’m sure you will like it!

I dug lord of the flies too ! it was definitely not what I expected, but the symbolism and chain of events was super good and interesting to read !
150 subs too ! thats nuts ! truly making it big time :)

@@wojothebard my thoughts exactly when I read it, finished it last night (recorded this video yesterday) So much symbolism and the part that haunted me the most was the “stick sharpened on both ends” part towards the climax. So eerie
And yes! Channel is thriving, I appreciate you being her since the earlier days

@ I honestly quite disliked 1984(unpopular opinion). And I liked the message behind Lord of the Flies but, not some of the events that take place. 😅
