Omg, I’m literally on the same path. I started of by reading Lonesome Dove. Then I read Dead man’s walk (prequel to LD) and now I’ve got these to read: The earth is weeping - Peter cozzens Empire of the summer moon Butcher’scrossing Streets of Laredo Comanche moon I’ll finish off the Lonesome Dove series then move to the NF.
Agree with the NYBR books, I’d love a whole collection of them! Hoping to get to Butchers Crossing this year, it’s sitting on my shelves whispering ‘read me’ on a daily basis.

"Owls of the Eastern Ice" has to be one of the greatest titles ever! I feel like it ought to be the title of a novel, even though it isn't. For dungeon crawler carl there are 7 books in the series right now but you can only get paperback for 7 as the hardcovers are being released right now. Book 1-3 hardcover are out. Book 4-6 come out march April may I believe. I think the ebook versions for all 7 are out and audibook 7 is coming soon. It is an amazing series and helped spark me to read again. I'm half way through book 4 right now and can't wait for more
The unbearable lightness of being is a great book! I would recommend reading a bit about the history of the 60s Czech (former Czechoslovakia) especially the Prague Spring as the book deals with the aftermath of the events. Knowing the historical background, and that Kundera went into exile in France himself, sometime in the 70s, makes the reading experience so much better 😊
I feel like based off you talking about the John Williams book, you might really enjoy How Much of These Hills is Gold. One of my fav reads from last year

Butcher's Crossing was great. Such an in-depth exploration of what it means to be a man, including the dangerous hubris of Manifest Destiny. His descriptions of thirst, cold, and claustrophobia are gripping. I read Williams work in a different order than you. BC>Augustus>NbtN>Stoner. I saved the best for last, for sure.
