I love the previous bayonetta games more for their gameplay (and story) but cereza and the lost demon was such a treat because it focused more on story which is something I’ve always wished previous games would do a better job at as someone who loves bayonetta lore and the motherly-daughter love between cereza and Rosa throughout both cerezas childhood and adult life, just melts my heart and makes this franchise such a gem to me. Idk maybe it’s me but something about how Rosa and Cereza are portrayed since previous games just lured me into this franchise.

Sometimes... we need an inversion. And this definitely fleshes out something we haven't seen with Bayonetta, her childhood. We've seen the circumstance of her birth, her role in the wit h hunts, and her several adventures as an awakened umbran witch. It is nice, even if I can't play Cereza and the Lost Demon right now (rip wallet)

The thing is people DO play bayo for the story or rather about 50 pecent od the fan base does but the theorizers and the simpers don't have a reason to talk to each other usually .

I think this sort of thing is great to any video-game series if the protag is an adult.

Uhh Chesire doesn't have 1 combo and the combat is far more in depth than any of us where expecting for this style of game. Chesire has 5 different combos depending on his element and you can switch between them on the fly. Each form has a unique ability that allows him to interact with enemies in various ways. He also has a team up attack with Cereza that allows him to reposition himself completely and almost instantly that you can then chain into a follow up (even switching elements on the fly). Is the combat as deep as the mainline series? No, but it was never going to be. Is the combat shallow? Also no. Can you beat this game by button mashing? Yes. But you can also beat Bayonetta 1, 2, & 3 by button mashing. That doesn't mean you should do it or the game encourages you to.

Really well done video. Bayonetta as an story telling identity is truly an oddity which set up the inversion of art style in origins to be more accepted. Its a different target audience then they intended by the mainline but still great art direction and styling which could of only be accomplished through simplicity.

cheshire dont has 1 combo thought? you can unlock stuff in the skill tree for both him and cereza and use all of them to do combos in the game

Cheshires one combo? His combos get better once you unlock the skill to switch elements mid combo.

With regards to the art style I don't think it's solely a Nintendo influnce. Platnium Games was also responsible for another colorful game when they were Clover Studios and that game is Okami. At least that was the conclusion I felt when I saw the art style the first time.

Honestly, I haven't played this yet, mostly out of spite lol. The demo was cute, but I have the gut feeling this wasn't supposed to be a Bayonetta game at first. I think it started as something else, but changed to fit and work as a bandaid to cover Bayonetta 3's plotholes. Of course this is just me being conspiranoic lol, but man...

Cereza isn't dead, don't worry, let's hope nintendo gives PG the green light for another game in the next few years, Origins was fantastic storywise, what pisses me off is certain part of the community is mad a child is not the way they wanted her to be and call this character assassination, lol, I am a huge Bayonetta fan, and holy shit the lengths I go to try to understand the convoluted story of the trilogy, nonetheless I love the story and the combat. I hate the multiverse, but the rest I liked it, just a shame the story telling was all over the place, I hope they learn with Origins, that's how you tell a good story.

Bayonetta 3 will return if you played Cereza and the lost demon iykyk I love Bayonetta 3 they will get better narratively but it’s important for fans to not backlash so heavily and watch with an open mind Bayonetta 3 was the next piece in a bigger puzzle

Its so much of a time paradox since it takes place before Bayonetta 1 and 3, but it takes places AFTER Bayonetta 3 too

Bayonetta is truly an oddity. its uniqueness set the stage for orgins not being so far stretched. It was orginally intended to compete with the likes of ninja gaiden and devil may cry. But this one relies on simplistic approach for effective storytelling. Its very childrens book ish. Which is not a bad thing in fact its a great strategic mood setting the pace for future bayonetta games and spin offs. Now what happens when bayonetta meets final fantasy ( in terms of style ) ---- stay odd
