    When Cesar first says “No” is an all time theater moment for me. I saw this movie twice in theaters and both times people gasped and clapped when that happened.

    • @te1013
      @te1013 6 месяцев назад +40

      I it was dead, silent in the theater, and all you can hear were the audiences gasps when he said no. That was awesome.

      I also remember that moment in the theater. The movie took just long enough of a pause to allow the audience to react. At first the theater was silent and then all at once you heard a collective "woh!"

      What really made it work was having the 'get your hands off me, you damn dirty ape' (one of the most iconic lines of the original movie) joke immediately beforehand. I remember the audience starting to groan at that, and then Caesar says 'NO!' and everybody is just instantly stunned.

    • @auslandermercury972

      That moment is also mentioned in the original Planet of the Apes series as the turning point when apes rose against humans when their leader named Caesar spoke the first human language word "No!" With that knowledge, when I saw it here, I was glad they made it so epic!

    Buck the Gorilla took multiple bullets to the chest and still managed to bring down the helicopter. Rest in peace Buck. And Cesar's " NOOOOO!!!!"
    Was breath-taking. Never heard silence in the theater like that.

      Caesar saying NO is iconic. Definitely my favorite part of the movie.

    • @ic5319

      It's inspired from the original Planet of the Apes movies, Escape from the Planet of the Apes:
      "They became alert to the concept of slavery. And, as their numbers grew, to slavery's antidote which, of course, is unity. At first, they began assembling in small groups. They learned the art of corporate and militant action. They learned to refuse. At first, they just grunted their refusal. But then, on an historic day, which is commemorated by my species and fully documented in the sacred scrolls, there came Aldo. He did not grunt. He articulated. He spoke a word which had been spoken to him time without number by humans. He said 'NO.''. - Cornelius

    I always admired how Caesar never wanted to kill the humans in this trilogy, rather just break free from their rule. I never saw it as him being weak, but as Caesar actually being the bigger individual. Caesar was a great leader because he kept his eye on the actual goal, which was for his kind to be free from human rule. He only killed when it was absolutely necessary and he always did his best to not make things personal. In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes when Caesar and the other apes rencountered the humans he even tried to make peace with them rather than go to war, because he knew how devastating war could be for both the humans and the apes. A wise leader always searches for peace if it is possible rather than solve problems through violence. Caesar didn’t force the apes to hate the human race, he didn’t ask them to kill every single one of them (like Koba), he just thought about what was best for his kind. Caesar knew in order to be a higher species you must be better than the ones who abused you. I saw the trailer for the 4th movie and I’m so hyped for it! Tho it seems some apes have learned nothing from the humans and are beginning to act just like they did after becoming the dominant species. Hopefully this knew character (who I believe is named Noa) will take after him and follow in his footsteps.

    One thing that's interesting about Koba and Cesar, is Koba is a bonobo which are considered one of the most docile of the big apes, yet he's scary and more aggressive. Where Cesar is a chimpanzee, which are considered extremely aggressive, but he's sweet and innocent.

    From the first “NO” from Caesar until basically the end of the movie is just **chills** after *chills* after chills. It’s amazing. When the silverback breaks open the zoo enclosure… FUCK. And then immediately pulling off the cast iron to use as spears? Holy shit. Just so goddamn hype. This movie was FAR better than I could have anticipated, it was my intro to this franchise.

      I’m a bit scared that it’s going to cross into the Fantasy genre a little too much now that they are fully talking but my excitement and intrigue of the plot and the Marvelous first look at the graphics keeps me heavily optimistic.
      I just don’t want it to become too.. Avatar-esque. If that makes sense. Not that there is anything wrong with those movies. Third favorite blossoming franchise in fact, but a society of apes can easily become to fantastical to imagine in this highly realistic dystopian universe the first three set up. And now that the humans are essentially the “wild” species, I still want it to maintain that realistic feel as much as it possibly can with talking apes who’ve formed an entire empire. I want this to be done right. Especially now that all the original characters are out of the picture and we are now following new characters.

    I think another reason why the “NO!” scene is so badass is due to that fact that apes are so similar to humans. The biggest thing that separates us from them is speech so seeing an ape shout “NO!” kinda breaks the barrier of us from them so it’s super shocking and surreal.

    Just to let people know, you can’t release a wild animal inti the wild if it was raised or became too used to humans. You can ether send to an animal sanctuary so they can live the rest of their life in peace or a rehabilitation center to reteache or prepare them to go back into the wild. Depending on what kind of animal we are dealing with and in what condition they were found.
    In the case of Cesar he lived his entire life in a human home and practically considered himself like a human, it makes sense to send him in a sanctuary.

    Season turns into such a great leader, father, revolutionary, but i forget he started out as such a cutie!! The trilogy is a great story and character study that relates to the human condition as well in terms of Cesar.. Cesar's time with his humans and "father" in general shapes his sympathy towards humans later on. Most of the other apes either never knew humans or were treated inhumanly in captive humans like koba..those two vastly different formative times they spent with humans really put them on opposite sides of the spectrum..all koba sees in humans is violent, hateful creatures who want to imprison them all! Cesar, even tho he is well aware of the ugly side of humans is also aware of the side the other apes never saw or experienced, which is a loving, nurturing, "good" side of humanity which is what makes him a great "fair" merciful leader down the line. Even when Cesar has his own family and children whether he knows it or not, his only point of comparison if being a dad was his human father! Which I'm sure shaped the father he became.

    This is an amazing trilogy, Caesar💚 is the best!!! ...love him to bits, hes a way better leader then most human leaders today. Hope u react to the other two.Caesar only bit the finger, it was still attached so that mean neighbour was lucky.
    Notice after all hes been through, Caesar has no first instinct or intention to kill humans or hurt people, just to free his apes. He never even killed the nasty Draco, he killed himself out of stupidity. Also the apes didnt kill any innocents, they just trashed a few offices and scared people tbf. You can see how heartbroken Caesar was to reject his human dad after he turned his back, its clear how hard it was for him & he continued using his window as his symbol on street signs afte r escaping. I always root for the apes, animals are true to their nature, & we betray ours.
    Also, Caesar can be infected again, so he also get even smarter when inhaling the 1.13 virus too, plus Caesar is way more intelligent since he had a proper human childhood education from Will.

    Not only should you guys finish the series. You should go back and watch the Charlton Heston originals. There's so many callbacks to those in these films that you'll recognize. Great review 💯

    there's an easter egg at the end of the movie showing mark walhlberg's ship taking off on the screen at the airport when the infected pilot is heading to his flight

    • @codyt821
      @codyt821 3 месяца назад

      That's the original crew, Charlton Heston's ship. Not that pos Wahlberg version. Different ship name, astronaut names, and it wouldn't make sense to be Wahlbergs version anyway, because that film transports him to an entirely different planet. That literally wouldn't make any sense to be connected to this film. The producers and directors of these films have also stated many times that they are all prequels to the original Charlton Heston film.

    I think it's movie is a wonderful reboot. The original was a critique on Evolution and education. This one is a great critique on science, hubris, big pharma, all of it. Apropos for the time.
    If you like this one, then definitely watch the rest. But I would also recommend going back and watching the originals.
    There are five original Planet of the Apes films. Most people only know of the first one. This movie is similar in plot the Planet of the Apes part 4.
    Hope you enjoy them!
