Could you please do a lesson on High Voltage by AC/DC? I understand if not, but it would be great if you could! (By the way I've learned most of my guitar from you since I went a while without lessons and all of your lessons have been great!)
Usually when I see a barre chord in the opening of a video, I close down my computer and run...run to my no barre chord safe zone. But I love this song so I must learn it.....damn you Marty !!!
Learn your barres guys, the E shape 6th string and the A shape on the 5th. The variations after that (minors, 7ths, etc...) are SO easy once you get it that you can play along with anything. Marty makes guitar playing possible!
Embrace that Barre chord buddy, God created all those frets for a reason...LOL Seriously, if you LOVE playing guitar, get that first finger strength. Once you do, it opens up a whole new world. No more staying on the first three frets. You can play A,B,C,D,E,F,G majors or minors up the neck (in order) with an E maj. finger shape, minors with A minor shape. Just need to learn to use first finger to make the "nut" at the top of neck? Make sense? I have a video on exactly this, explains in detail in about 20 minutes.
Hey Marty, Jaron here! I would greatly appreciate your help learning these fun songs. 1. Clutch - Cyborg Bette 2. Bob Dylan - House Carpenter 3. The Cars - You Might Think 4. Red Fang - Wires 5. Crash Test Dummies - Afternoons and Coffeespoons 6. The Donnas - Who Invited You 7. Franz Ferdinand - Katherine Kiss Me 8. Jethro Tull - Mother Goose (How can you not love this song?) 9. Jim Croce - I got a name 10. Lou Reed - This Magic Moment 11. NOFX - Linoleum 12. Paul Simon - Gumboots / Paranoia Blues 13. Rev Horton Heat - Baby, I’m Drunk 14. Sublime - What happened? Looking forward to seeing you teach a few of these songs. Much Appreciated!
Its another one I've been playing wrong for 20 years lol. Thanks again Marty. One of these days I'm gonna learn how to play, I've been trying for almost 40 years now.
I found you on here I have not played in 40 years my wife bought me a Guitar for Valentines and don’t remember much but really want to learn some of Garth songs what are the easiest ones to do Thanks
The hard part of doing it this way is when you have to do the pull-offs on the Bm. Depending on where this song lands on the spontaneous set list depends if I use a capo or not. \ The Capo to A way is much easier except for the A#dim. It's at very minimum intermediate level playing, if not almost advanced. One thing for sure, Marty... Your videos have been a great source of learning and entertainment for me for several years now. Thanks hemano. Keep it up!
The second chord type is actually called a diminished 7th chord. A diminished chord is 1, b3, b5 while a diminished 7th is 1, b3, b5, bb7. Just thought I'd mention that for those who are exploring chord formulas.
Marty, you’re hands down the best guitar teacher on the web when it comes to simplifying /breaking down songs. For easy digestion. Keep up the great wok!
You are such an awesome and nice person Marty! I hope you get what you deserve for evertything that you've taugh us through the years. You really deserve it! Love for Sweden.
Sweet lesson, Marty.. Now you just need to break down that sweet electric solo. As a 26 year old, I love anything country from the *90's* and earlier. Even stuff from the late 40's and early 50's like Hank Sr. I'm currently trying to tackle Townes Van Zandt's original version of "Pancho and Lefty". I could only find one person that teaches it. I had to pay $6 for the lesson, which was a first for me dropping money on a lesson. It uses Travis picking, and I'm somewhat new to finger picking. I know country isn't your thing, but it would be nice if you did a country song every once in a while. There's a lot of good old country that I can't find lessons on. Also, any videos on new fingerstyle tips that you've learned would be much appreciated.
Hey Marty, your videos are always really helpful to me. I learn a lot faster with them. I have a couple songs I’d like you to do a video on. Ozzy Osbourne’s Bloodbath in Paradise and Blue Oyster Cult’s Burning for You. Keep up the good work man! You’re awesome.
I would love if you did some more gunfighter ballads and country on the channel. Really love your videos and thanks for the help i learn really much from you.
Fantastic stuff, as usual! Thanks so much for helping me fill my house with music. Do you have written tabs for your songs? Perhaps a link to the tabs you use for the songs? That would be pretty slick if possible.
Hey Marty I’ve been watching your videos for a very long time an I appreciate all you’ve taught me Can you do a lesson on blues like how to make a blues solo on your own please man
About to try 'Friends in low places'.think I'll try pulling out individual notes during the Verse though. Yo Marty, have you heard the extra (last) verse for this song. The first time I heard this song, was in concert 91',never even heard of Garth before going that day.a good showman.I love the missing verse though.
How do these songs add those Chords that don’t belong in the scale but still work and mesh great? Just. curious about the music theory behind adding A# dim and Dminor
Great lesson! I always enjoy your lessons. Could you do a lesson on Call Me the Breeze by John Mayer. I know there’s several versions, but I prefer the John Mayer version.
The actual acoustic part in the song is only in the first chourus and then all the othor insturments takr over and let me tell you I think the original is so hard the first chorus is all the more i can stand thanks for simplifying a insane song✌😂😂😂🐂
Hey, Marty! I have a question. What are your thoughts on capos? Are they really needed to play a specific song or can you play without it? The reason I ask is because I never really see any guitar players with it on.
Speaking of Garth you should do "Thunder Rolls" I cant get it down, plus you know how to break down a guitar song so im good if you teach me, I tried CountrySongTeacher but couldn't get it. By the way i learned guitar from him but man how do you know all these songs you probably have over 1000 guitar videos lol maybe not but close, I mean so does Matt but you are like so advanced its crazy and i've only been playing 2 years and im 16 but i want to get into picking but im not sure if im still a like bottom begginer so i dont want to rush it. You could probably help, lol i know you can help, Im still tryin to get your "Sweet Child O'l Mine" which is easy just takes time to learn lol remember im trying picking and i just started so dont make fun of me lol ur probably like "man I can play that un my sleeo lol just playin
Can you please do a learn "Good Directions" by Billy Currington? I can't find any that teach like you do. I'm 60 days into teaching myself guitar, your channel has been the most helpful.
Marty, my hard rocking amigo, can the pentatonic scale be played over any key or set of chords? Do you just start the scale from the note of chord that's being played? Or is pentatonic scale only used for certain chords? David. UK
Hey Marty, will a slightly thicker pick-guard change the sound of the acoustic at all? I ordered a carbon fiber pick guard for my acoustic, I’m really excited about it, but I’m worried it’ll change the sound some.

Same here. I'm stuffing wood in the woodstove, and while it catches, I practice practice practice. Thanks a lot Marty.
Learn your barres guys, the E shape 6th string and the A shape on the 5th. The variations after that (minors, 7ths, etc...) are SO easy once you get it that you can play along with anything. Marty makes guitar playing possible!
Throw a capo on the second fret and you can play all open chords. That's how I learned it and it sounds pretty accurate to me
Same
