- The Jeep Meridian is the newest 6/7-seater SUV in the market, to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner! Though, it's not just an extended Jeep Compass. The Meridian packs in a whole lot of comfort, and off-road capabilities. It's powered by the widely used 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that makes 170hp and 350Nm. Not bad. Here's the Jeep Meridian's first drive review with Cyrus Dhabhar. Also, we find out if it can fill the void left by the Ford Endeavour.

The Jeep meridian is a very good looking seven seater suv. The design is bold yet modern and clean. Then their is the interior which looks absolutely superb with black. Brown combo. Feels very upmarket to look at. However the third row seats are not great for long distances even being a 7 seater .
Also jeep should have also given a petrol engine option rather than a 2 litter diesel engine or they should given a different state of tune especially considering the meridian is larger car than the compass which its based on.
Other than that it is a good option to have along side with the compass. Hope jeep price it well.
Nothing can replace Ford Endeavour in Indian market and hearts!

Mostly I am going to drive myself alone and sometimes there may be 3 more passenger with me at most, my driving will be 60 % on highway and 40% in the city..mileage is not my concern .. My priorities are driving performance and pleasure, safety,design, Comfort and reliability.. There should be enough features for daily use . The only issue I think will be it's 6 speaker system as I love to hear quality music and i am not a big fan of aftermarket things.... I am also considering jeep meridian it checks all the boxes the only Cons I found are Its design (looks similar like compass and it's side design is not as appealing as fortuner) and second is it's engine performance, can you please guide me which will be a better choice as I am going to keep the car for long term and don't want to regret my decision or get bored with car after 2-3 years
Great video guys. Your GC number flashed as 203 mm (around 2:50 mark in the video) while the brochure says 214 mm? Is that a typo? Safe to assume the 4x4 sports 214 mm GC? Thank you.

Very capable stretched out Compass indeed. Wish the Jeep folks had set their design team some goals to make it look better towards the rear , even a shrunken rear and a bit taller copy one of the Merc SUV designs rather then give this Tavera look

Thanks for the helpful video. Can you use 4WD LOCK on dry tarmac? How will this do on very steep inclines on dry surfaced roads where rear wheel drive has advantages over front wheel drivej?

It's good vehicle but falls short of space inside the car and ADAS. MG Gloster however is a better competitor to Fortuner.
Please do the same with xuv700 4WD , wanna see how it will go with the huge Indian brand

What's the on road price for the top end variant? Would this be a better buy than the Gloster 4x4 ?
I own a Gloster 4x4; humongous space, comfort, road presence and ease of driving is well beyond its segment and price point. A one on one comparo is well justified if the Meridian is priced under 50.00lacs on road.
Gloster has pathetic quality. It looks premium, but not durable at all. plus not to mention that massive turbo lag
@@SwarnimAgrawal oh really!!! Which part of the car is not built well?? My car has run about 20k kms, absolutely zero issues on the build quality front. Everything seems like it's made to last for a long time so far.
I agree with the turbo lag, but I use sport mode in stop n go situation and also use the paddle whenever needed, so I have clearly overcome that problem...

Few suggestions for powerdrift,
The review while driving is too long, and doesn’t feel engaging. Also, we miss the ambient rock songs.
It would be great to see up close of what is being reviewed, like the tyres, engine etc.. , instead of talking about them while driving.
Please bring back the awesome cinematography as well. Recently its just 4 or 5 steady angles throughout the entire video.
why indians always like to give unwanted opinions, if u know so much go and make a car channel right chomu. This is why those American RUclipsrs have more reach, their fans don't act like they are better than the journalist.

This video is very short to follow the off-road capabilities
if the Meridian is not as tall or chunky as Fortuner or Endeavour it will forever remain 1 level lower and earn the title stretched compass which a person spending 30 lakh would not like to hear however Meridien is beautiful and can rival Kodiaq, XUV700 or safari or Kia Sorento but not enough to Rival those 2 beasts Jeep must understand this about an Indian customer.
I really like your videos but I have noticed that the colour is bit off compared to other videos on the same car , I would suggest you guys to review it side side with other channels video.

Hey guys always loved your videos... But pls reduce the over acting idea.
Nope! not a patch on the Fortuner. Drove to Alibag in one on a weekend. The kind of respect and road presence the Fortuner gets! Just did a showroom walkaround of the Jeep. Nope its a nerd versus the brute or the beast case. Way too puny. Drove the packed Fortuner uphill on a jammed old Bombay ghat with groaning buses for company, nothing fazes the Fortuner. The kind of power on tap...when you put the hammer down! Have driven the Compass (2L). Doesn't even compare. This Compass 7 seater, has its competition somewhere else. Don't think the Fortuner buyer will even give it a second glance.

I don't think it can replace Endeavour or can compete with Fortuner... it just doesn't feel like a full size SUV and even the engine figures are no where in line with Fortuner's 200bhp and 500nm torque.. I feel it's more of a competition to Safari and XUV700 but with a premium pricing...
I think u should see the specs of xuv 700 that how much potential it has.

In plain words: NO, ITS NOT A FORTUNER RIVAL. Fortuner's rivals as of now are Gloster and Alturas (still selling but people just forget). BTW, both are bigger than Fortuner in every dimension, and both are better than Fortuner in every sense. There is a difference between a great product and an informed customer, sadly Fortuner is/has neither (just a horde of sheep-following-sheep). Back to Meridian, just make it stand next to these three and you will know. 45L on-road does not mean its a competitor (to another which is overpriced), it only means there are a bunch of i***ts who think price = value.

This is the endeavour replacement! Really? Endeavour was a tall BOF 4×4 true SUV with a massive 3.2 L diesel engine. Are you mad? It's nowhere near the toyota fortuner. Endeavour was the only rival which is gone unfortunately.
Endeavour was the best car in the segment imo. Sadly even the 3.2 L was discontinued if I'm not wrong, long before the whole car/company got discontinued.

My friend recently bought a Fortuner. The ride quality is the worst. Feeling like sitting in a truck. It is outdated. If you use Fortuner for off road then ok. Fortuner is overpriced. For me useless
