2014 mustang premium v6 radio went out. Repair video (super easy fix)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 дек 2021
- Common problem with the s197 models. The cheap Chinese radios will go out and need a lil abuse to make it do what you want it to do. Work!
Only tool needed is a trim prying tool from autozone $10. The hvac Consol has 7 screws attaching the display to the dash. I don’t screw them back in as it’s a regular problem that the radio goes out. It goes out due to the cd feeder getting clogged/stuck which causes the whole radio to stall out. Tapping the bottom of the radio physically loosens it.
Just found this video I was thinking to send the radio for repair but I was like what the heck might as well give this a try and 3 mins later my radio is working again thanks for helping the mustang community out
I almost did the same, the repairmen would have done the same as I did in the video then charge you $500. Just note this are cheap Chinese radios so I’ll go out every few weeks so you’ll have to keep applying the abuse method, but hey.. beats paying money for a new one. Please share with others!
I went to get it checked out and got quoted $500 to have it fixed, I’m gonna try this
I'm guessing that there is a cracked solder connection and the slap fix is just temporary. I'll find out soon enough cause mine is out now too.
@@Kev7325 the slap is temporary you just have to buy a radio receiver I bought a used one for 150 on eBay 1 year ago and the radio still works
What did you find out@@Kev7325
This trick worked like a charm in my 2014 Mustang!!! I was so worried about having to replace the ACM and the cost associated with it. Thanks so much!!!
2 years until I search for this wow problem fixed in 15 minutes. TY
Just saved me a bunch of money and helped me listen to music when driving. Good video good directions easy fix. Thank you very much
This video just saved me a few hundred dollars, Radio is back to working 👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you! 💯
Great video! Not a permanent fix at all but definitely helps. Make sure you have a 9/32 to unscrew the bolts from the panel. This wasn’t shown in the video.
I did this and it fixed it, actually very happy didnt even need that pry tool just took it apart with my hands and a 7mm socket holds 2 nuts underneath there.
It works , thanks brother. I didn’t have a radio for almost 6 months. I appreciate your video.
YOOO THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Highly recommend this to anyone before you do anything else. I was stuck without a radio for a year, didn’t want to spend the $700 for a Dynavin. This guy is a lifesaver
I almost did the same. Bro share this with others who need it
June 2022. Haven’t had a car stereo for 3+ years. A couple of taps on the bottom with a wrench and it’s back! Thank you so much. Everyone needs to spread this on all the Mustang forums and post a link to your video. Thanks again.
Holy shit lol 3 years is a sentence in county 😂 glad I could help, spread it around so no one else has ti deal with a 3yr sentence like you have. Enjoy your music filled summer!
havent had mine for a year. will try this and let ya know.
Wow! This worked for me! I was almost a year without music lol! I appreciate you and your video! Thank you so much 😅
Very welcome, be sure to share with others who need the help!
My friend had this issue for a while. He was going to buy a new one above 1000$.
After this video he fixed it for free.
Thank you 🙏🏼

You know I hit my radio a few times in frustration, but I guess I wasn't hitting hard enough. You're awesome man, it's been almost a year with no tunes.
Glad I could help. I figured out that if you hit close to the cd lip the radio will cut on faster. Be sure to share this with Luther’s who need the help!
Does ur cd keep ejecting even if it’s empty while blinking?
You saved me!! Its only been a few months but its felt like years without music!
Glad I could help, pls share the video to help others!
Thanks for this video! Everyone told me things where I had to spend a substantial amount of money either to fix or replace. Took me 2 mins to fix on my own and for free! Thanks for the video!
I’m gonna try this. Have you had any problems since or has it stayed working for you?
@@duvrte for me at least, I haven’t had any noticeable issues except for Having to do the steps all over again to turn it back on
Glad I could help! Please share with others who need it.
@@duvrte yes it did go back out a few weeks later but I repeated the steps and it worked again no problem. It’s been about 2 months now and haven’t had to do it again. Knock on wood lol
IT WORKS! If your time is flashing just spend the easy 10 minutes it takes to do this and it will be worth it. I recommend hitting it with a metal stick it wasn’t working when I used my hand but the stick did the trick
I considered sending my radio to get it repaired but I tried this instead and it worked on my car. Thank you so much!
Glad to help. Hit it as many times as needed. I’ve done it for last 4 yrs. share this with others who need it!
Man i love you, i had my Mustang without stereo for 1 year and today i tried this and its like brand new
Your summer bout to be lit bruh fr fr. Pls share video to help others!
Keep in mind that it’ll continually go out every week or so. Mine does At least once a week. Hit it firmly on the bottom right corner where the engraved logo is
Dude! No lie, my radio was messing up recently till it finally stopped working. The only thing that would work is the outside temp. Definitely gonna give this a try. Thank you for the video!
It should work, give it a shot.. fingers crossed 🤞
This worked like a charm!!!! Only took about 10 min! Thank you!!!!!

This is great! After not having my radio work for almost a year I decided to give this a try and before I knew it my radio worked again. Very helpful! 10/10
Welcome! Be sure to share this video as this is a common problem and a lot of stang owners don’t know about it.
. My friend just asked me if I can help him with his radio, the only thing working is the clock blinking, I'll try this, thanks man
I stumbled across this video this week. I've been without my radio for almost a year. Seriously took it to get an estimate $900-1000. Negative ghostwriter I've been using a Bluetooth speaker in my backseat to compensate. Used this method today and guess what it works. If you have big hands and can't tap the radio. Use your socket wrench and it will come on 👍🏾👍🏾
Lol good thing you found this video. Shop was going to rip you off just to do exactly what I showed you. Make sure to share this video with others so they can get their radio working again!
Super helpful video. Thank you sir. Fixed mine first try.

WTF!!! 2012 V6 radio has been making glass crunching pops, then it finally went out yesterday leaving the doomed blinking light. I travel for my band a lot, super bummed. Im shocked...IT WORKS!!! Thanks for this video Mustang brother. I thought it totally blew up and now its working again. As mentioned, dont forget to remove the 9/32 bolts at the bottom of the upper front panel.

Let’s goo it worked thank you bro!
Will this work on a 2012 mustang v6? I have the same blinking time. .
Hey does this work if my radio display is not blinking but my speakers give of nothing but static noise even when I change my input I still get static as if it’s on a bad radio station , does this fix also work for that ? The static only goes away if I mute the radio , when I have volume all the way down it still gives off static , what do I do
Works!!!! On my 2013!!!👌🏼👌🏼
Is there a way to prevent this from happening again? I understand it works but I don’t understand why is it a loose wire in there or what?
I can’t Believe it !!!! Yooo your the man!!!

Does anybody know what causes the radio to just cut out I’ve tried the trick works every time but radio doesn’t stay working have to do this multiple times just to get music 😩
You are awesome didn't even need to take it apart just slap the passenger side 😂
God bless you, saved me some $$ right here
It's crazy that this really works

I’m mad I went 2 months without music 😂😂😂
I went a whole year after I bought the car. Lol make sure to share so others can won’t this problem too
Yea it went out an hour later…. Twice in the same day. It’s a temporary fix 🤷🏽♂️
Worked , thanks bro.
Welcome, please share.
Did you ever have any issues with the HVAC and radio controls? Currently mine is flickering like this but neither the radio or HVAC buttons are working.
Mine is like that as well but idk why
Thank you!
That was pretty damn good, thanks
glad it helped you, please share the video with other mustang owners.
Anyone know how long this lasts?
Will this work if I’ve installed a new touchscreen head unit in place of the old one? I replace it because of the issue and then over time this new unit started doing it
Idk but replacing it should be fixing the issue as this is exclusive to the pos Chinese junk ford went with for a radio
Thx for help but what's the problem that bottom hitting helps? For me it only works for a few days; /. Now I'm thinking about putting it in the oven. You can do that
You can do the oven trick, not guaranteed to work successfully. I find it more convenient to just hit the pos..but honestly I have no idea what’s really happening when you hit it. It just works when you do!
@@bruhbruhh5103 ok, thx bro. No need to disassemble the radio, you can pull the plastic off the side and put something there to hit :).
This worked just did it radio wasn’t working for a year made me stop driving my car I was tired of hearing my exhaust🤣
Lmao 🤣 glad it helped, make sure to share this video so others can fix this problem too!
Having a problem where my radio works but my phone button no longer works do u think if I was to replace the box on the inside with a new one it would fix it??
Not sure really but if you replace the front embezzle, go to Facebook market place/junk yards. You should fix the problem
I didnt even need to take it off i just banged on it with the pannel on and it worked if u tap directly in the AM/FM section
Trying that currently your using the tool ?
Never have I ever saw so many people have the same issue and the same solution to fix it 😂
Glad to help. Hit it as many times as needed. I’ve done it for last 4 yrs. share this with others who need it!
Muchas Gracias me sirvió mucho 🫡
I'm not having flickering issues. The radio just went out and it just plays loud static noise . They want so much money for a new radio it's crazy . I'll have to try this . Thanks
Work for you?
This worked 👍
After 4years I think the trick stopped working. The radio won’t come on and I have a massive dent in the radio casing from hitting it over the years😂😂😂
Awesome video. I'm thinking about buying a 2013 mustang. It radio has the same problem. How long did this think last? Is it still working?
Definitely buy it, it’s a great car. The radio is a cheap Chinese model radio so this problem will persistently happen. The only permanent fix is to replace it with the Tesla screen radio on Americanmuscle . Com
Otherwise continue to hit the radio whenever it goes out. It’ll always come back on after a few hits as the problem originated from the cd reader becomes jammed/clogged. Hating the radio unjams it and makes it operational
Please share with others to help them out with this fix. Most mechanics charge $500-1000 for this simple job I showed
please help me. It works but what is its main problem. Does it turn off often and I have to hit it all the time?
Glad to help. Hit it as many times as needed. I’ve done it for last 4 yrs. share this with others who need it! There’s no permanent solution
Didnt even have to take mine apart just hit the center and it worked
Man really appreciate it . That fixed mine also . Has anyone figured out why this tapping on the unit works ? I’ve had to do it a couple times already and would like to be able to permanently fix it instead of having to ride around with a long screwdriver and hammer lol
Welcome! From what I perceive to be the cause is that it’s a soldering issue. The box maybe losing connection or has poor connection. I honestly don’t know what tapping on box does technically but monkey brain say smak and wrok ooh ooh 🙉.
There's a website called automative circuit solutions that charges 130 to repair [most likely just resolder]
what about when the display shows "MUSTANG", will this work ?
Idk what you mean
Great video But before taking everything apart try just smacking it , ur worked for me
Lol I’d advise taking everything off before hitting it like it’s my ex wife
Awesome I have music again!! Thanks
Cant believe this actually worked. Gj.
I said screw it ill try it... and it worked!
Glad to help. Hit it as many times as needed. I’ve done it for last 4 yrs. share this with others who need it!
Omg thank you 😭
Dam dude thanks
Did your car speakers make a crazy sound before doing this? My car has been making some ugly loud noises this week from the speakers and then it made the worst one yet and started flashing like yours
Yes, this is typical, it’s a sign telling you it he radio is cutting out. Whenever the flashing happens just hit the radio as I showed and you’ll be good. I’ve been doing this for the past 2 yrs with no problems
Same!! It randomly been doing that till it stopped (i hear the cd driver noise even tho theres no cd, ill try it now and hope it works
was yours able to be fixed by tapping it? mine made a loud static sound thru my speakers and subs before it stopped working hoping this works for me tomorrow
@@jonnyxtendo7815 i didnt do the tap thing im still under warranty they just gave me a new head unit sorry i coundnt help more hope it works out for you bro
Where did you get the wedge
Autozone, overpriced at $20 for a 4pc set.
Wish this was my issue, my radio part works, just none of the buttons on the piece work, AC, RADIO, ETC. I can change the radio through the steering wheel though.
You may need a new console. Try looking at junk yards for it. They usually run for 60-125. Have you tried unplugging the cat batter and console?
I honestly haven’t tried anything as I couldn’t really find anything online for it. Literally just bought the car and Carmax said they’d repair it for free but I gotta wait 2 weeks. I’m down to try some stuff to fix it myself.
Cat batter and console?
Bro you got venmo ima send you $20! You the truth this works!
Lol I got cash app bruv
@@bruhbruhh5103 Ima slide you a cool 20 whats yo cash app? Man look i got a quote for a diagnostic for $200 and you were free! Tip comin yo way bro
If YOU DONT WANT TO TAKE OFF THE PANEL…
Smack the side radio panel a few times. Until your clock stop blinking then turn on the radio.
I just tried it rn and it’s back on 😂
You have to take off the first panel correct where cup holders are?
@@datboymike806bme no don’t take anything off just smack it hard as u can a few times the side where the passenger legs are at or you can hit just above the radio screen with your palm
I do that when I get mad if it goes out while driving. 50-50 but considering breaking the panel. I’d rather keep 🐴 pretty and just do the work
I have been driving my car with no audio.. ford service center asked me to change the dsp. I couldn't find one tried. It's worked.. its crazy send me your venmo.. I wanna gift you something .
This better work. I been without music for 2 years in my mustang
Thank God this worked at first we couldn't get the console open and noticed there was screws at the bottom and we couldn't get them open so instead we hit the stereo console with the screwdriver as hard and we turned it on
Lmao be careful of that, you wouldn’t want to destroy the console as it’s attached to your hvac. I think the bolts are 9/16 or 8mm. Definitely easy to remove and your radio will go out again eventually. But glad I could help! Please share the vid with others who need it.
Replacing it is just as easy but definitely expensive. I just replaced mine, you just need to know your way around a scan tool.
Nah I’ve been abusing that Chinese junk for the last 4yrs and I have no problems 😊
You had Bluetooth! Mine hasnt worked since I got the car in 2018😮 Now radio is gone.
I tried this smacked it with my hand a wrench and still nothing so either mine just messed up or idk but thanks for the video
No no, this think fucking stubborn. I wasn’t joking you have to abuse it. Hut it til it works but not break it and be mindful of the dash
Mine worked when i did that but it went right back the next day. 😢 did anyone else ha e the same issue?
Glad to help. Hit it as many times as needed. I’ve done it for last 4 yrs. share this with others who need it!
Where can I get that tool from?
Autozone, Amazon, Walmart. It’s called a trim tool. Used for picking/prying plastic trim on a car.
@@bruhbruhh5103 thanks very much for your response.
I did all this except I replaced the radio and now my car won't start. Anybody know what happened?
First off.. fuck Joe Biden, secondly. Try resetting or replacing fuses. Disconnect the battery next time you mess with the electronics in the car to save you from a problem like this. Have you tried putting the old one back in to see if maybe the problem is just the radio? Also what type of radio did you get?
@@bruhbruhh5103 joe biden is the best president of all time, fdjt
