🥸 In Movie version they show Dumbledore very less powerful. Here is the book version in short. Please read it
“But Master - he is here - he is below -”
Voldemort paid no attention. AVADA KEDAVRA!”
Harry had not even opened his mouth to resist. His mind was
blank, his wand pointing uselessly at the floor.
But the headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had
sprung alive, leaping from its plinth, and landed on the floor with a
crash between Harry and Voldemort. The spell merely glanced off its
chest as the statue flung out its arms, protecting Harry.
“What - ?” said Voldemort, staring around. And then he
      breathed, “Dumbledore!”
Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at
      Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of his cloak;
next second he had reappeared behind Voldemort and waved his
wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to
life too. The statue of the witch ran at Bellatrix, who screamed and
sent spells streaming uselessly off its chest, before it dived at her, pin-
ning her to the floor. Meanwhile, the goblin and the house-elf scuttled
toward the fireplaces set along the wall, and the one-armed centaur
galloped at Voldemort, who vanished and reappeared beside the pool.
The headless statue thrust Harry backward, away from the fight, as
Dumbledore advanced on Voldemort and the golden centaur can-
      tered around them both.
“You do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore?” called Voldemort, his
scarlet eyes narrowed over the top of the shield. “Above such brutality,
      are you?”
“We both know that there are other ways of destroying a man,
Tom,” Dumbledore said calmly, continuing to walk toward Volde-
mort as though he had not a fear in the world, as though nothing had
happened to interrupt his stroll up the hall. “Merely taking your life
would not satisfy me, I admit -”
“There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!” snarled
      Voldemort.
      “You are quite wrong,”
      “Indeed, your failure to un-
derstand that there are things much worse than death has always been
      your greatest weakness -”
Dumbledore never failed down in book version. Voldemort was nervous entirely while face Dumbledore. Voldemort go inside Harry coz he failed to face Dumbledore.

Neville's parents weren't killed. Bellatrix and Barty Crouch Jr used the Cruciatis curse on them, to torture them for information. They never gave in. Their minds were broken by the torture, so a fate worse than death. They barely recognize Neville. He was raised by his Gran, but often went to St Mungo's Hospital for Wizards to see his parents. It really was a fate worse than death for the Longbottom family.

One of the greatest scenes from the books was cut from this movie and that was Neville visiting his Parents at St Mungos over christmas at the same time that Arthur Weasley is there. Neville's parents don't recognize him, but when he goes to leave his mom gives him a candy wrapper like she does every time she see's him. James’ behaviour in school actually really disturbed Harry in the books. After finding out James was essentially Snape's bully, Harry struggled with the fact he had been thinking of his father as a hero for so long (due to other people’s impressions/stories) plus everyone saying he reminded them of James - but after seeing Snape's memories, Harry also related more to Snape after growing up neglected and bullied by his aunt, uncle and cousin.

I think there are reasons they hate Umbridge so much. Part of it is the banality of her evil. We can understand Voldemort, he wants to rule the world; Umbridge reminds of us those petty little tyrants that are common to bureaucracy. Rowling often commented about how kids understand that some teachers are not fair and not even nice. Umbridge sort of embodies every rotten unfair authority figure we've ever encountered...

In the book, it was actually Cho's friend Marietta Edgecombe's.
Hermione put a curse on the parchment they all signed up on. If you ratted out Dumbledore's Army your face would be horribly disfigured by a series of close-set purple pustules that spread across her nose and cheeks. These pustules would form the word SNEAK. Over time it would fade by the word could still be seen.
Kingsley(the black guy with Fudge) actually changed her memory to keep the order safe which caused Umbridge to LOSE IT. She PHYSICALLY ASSAULTS and screams at Marietta. This is probably the angriest Dumbledore gets in the WHOLE series.
Dumbledore is immediately on his feet, wand in hand pointed at Umbridge, and his temper flared. He's PISSED that one of his students is being harmed.

    Things in The Order of the Phoenix novel that are not in the movie;
Mrs. Fig is a Squib (a person born from a wizarding family but unable to do magic) who was Harry's neighbor for many years. She was even mentioned often throughout the book series. But Harry never knew that Mrs. Fig is actually part of the wizarding community.
Harry actually found out about Hagrid being a half giant by mistake during Goblet of Fire. Hagrid's biological mother, Fridwulfa is a giant. Hagrid's father was a wizard. Grawp is Hagrid's brother by way of their giant mother.
Ron's brother, Percy had a falling out with the Weasley family. He never believed Harry's story about Voldemort's return and was on the side of the Minister of Magic.
Neville's parents are very much alive and are permanent patients at Saint Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies. Because of all the torture that Bellatrix, her husband and Barty Crouch Junior inflicted on them they are mentally damaged. While visiting Mr. Weasley in the hospital Harry, Ron and Hermione come across Neville and his grandmother and was able to meet Neville's parents.
The Weasley twins weren't expelled. They quit school. When Harry won the Tri Wizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire he gave his winnings to the twins. Harry originally tried to give it to Cedric's father but he refused to take it. As a result of Harry giving it to the twins Fred and George started using the money to start a side business and made Harry as a secret investor and silent partner. That is why the twins kept inventing all sorts of magical practical joke sweets throughout Order of the Phoenix.
When the Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny and Luna flew the Thestrals the majority of them couldn't see what it was they were flying. Earlier in the school year they did learn about Thestrals in Magical Beasts class when Hagrid introduced them to the students. Those who had witnessed death had no trouble seeing them. But the rest couldn't and all they saw was raw meat being devoured by some invisible entities. When the group flew the Thestrals it was as if they were flying on thin air. They can feel the animals but couldn't see them.
    In the end of the book when Harry talks to Dumbledore in his office, Dumbledore reveals that the prophecy actually came from Professor Trelawney and it was he who witnessed Professor Trelawney make prophecy while she was in a trance. The prophecy was;
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."
Dumbledore said that two babies were born at the end of July. Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. Though the prophecy fit Neville just the same as Harry because Neville's parents also defied Voldemort three times, it was Harry that Voldemort chose to kill instead of Neville. It is believed that Voldemort chose Harry because Harry's mother was a muggleborn. Neville's parents are purebloods.
During the last evening at Hogwarts Harry desperately runs to the ghost of Nearly Headless Nick and tries to talk to him about Sirius possibly coming back as a ghost. But Nick tells Harry that the only reason why Nick is a ghost residing at Hogwarts is because he refused to move on to the beyond. He refused to let go and wanted to remain. Nick explained to Harry that Sirius moved on.

The Dementors's attack actually proved to be a turning point for Dudley's character. Because Dudley had a happy life without any "worst memories" to experience, the Dementors sucking out his soul made Dudley see himself for exactly who he was/is: A bully. The attack made Dudley realize he needed to change his ways, and ever since then, Dudley started acting kinder to Harry. When Harry stormed off to his room after yet another fight with the Dursleys, Dudley left a cup of tea at Harry's doorstep, and when Harry left the room, he accidentally stepped on it, and assumed it was another prank from Dudley, despite, for the first time ever, being a genuine act of kindness from him.

From the mid 50's up to 1987, students at age sixteen were given Ordinary Level (O-Level) Exams in all of their major subjects, for which they can receive their General Certificates of Education. This corresponds to the Ordinary Wizarding Level (O.W.L.) Exams given at Hogwarts. Students who planned to go on to university stayed on two more years to take their Advanced Level (A-Level) Exams, which roughly correspond to Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test (N.E.W.T.) Exams.

Ron and Hermione become Presfects that is also why Seamus backdown. Which is great because in the books Ron is more badace than think, due to he just doubts himself like Neville, but in the backside their more braver better than they think they are. Plus Shacklebolt the cool deep voice black guy is badace in the books he can take on 3 or 2 death eaters. Hes pretty calm barely gets angry, and one of the top tier toughest Wizards. he also was also around with James time said he was cool, though also James was a Bully, but know this Snape and James hated each other like Harry and Draco, the only difference was James grew up and tried to better himself , Snape did not. So he let a childhood grudge go beyond boundaries. Plus though James awas a bully many dont realize this but the other fact is he befriend outcasts that no one liked. Sirius who was from a dark family hated him for not being like him, Lupin who was a strange boy who many thought was weird and poor, and Wormtail .. well easy to understand. So James like Harry takes in outcasts Ron who is poor doubt himself, Hermione, a muggle born, Luna a laughed at friend, Neville, who is clumsy but brave, so basically Harry is like his father here i wonder if any one reads this and thinks on it.

It was called Dumbledore's army because that what the ministry feared. Dumbledore went with it as Harry & co. were about to sit their OWLs exams and to have them expelled would offer them up to Voldemort! Sirius fell through the curtain that separates the world of the dead from the living: so he's dead.

'Now as he's holding her - beat her ass like a piñata.' LOL loved that! Also loved that you brought up the fact that the others couldn't see the Thestrals and so, to them, they would be flying on nothing - as well as I think you are the only reactor I've seen so far think of the possibility that Voldemort could have been twisting Harry's mind on purpose with pretending he had Sirius - very perceptive :) In the books, it goes further in depth to explain that Sirius had been checked up on by Severus when Harry said the 'He's got Padfoot at the place where its hidden' and found him still at Grimmauld Place and that is how the Order knew that Harry and friends were in trouble and show up to the fight.

In the books Dudley does have a redemption ark but not in the movies, and it's finally time to tell why Harry has to keep going back to the dursleys, in the 1st move Dumbledore left a letter with Harry that the movies never mention again it's instructions for a protection spell the same spell that protected the potters and Peter betrayed Dumbledore sent another letter when vernin tried to kick Harry out that says remember my last letter

    • @tommysimons8165

It’s not the same spell that protected the potters, that was the feldius charm that required a secret keep, the same spell on Grimmauld place in this movie, Dumbledore is the secret keeper.
The spell Dumbledore uses at Privet drive is Lilly’s protection on Harry from Voldemort when she sacrificed herself, it would continue if Harry continued to live with Lilly’s blood relatives until he turned of age or no longer called the place home.

I told you the first movie Dumbledore was going to be a G 😂 just imagine in the books he was even stronger during that battle I don’t know why they made him look slightly weaker in the movie, even though he was still super strong, but in the books, he was literally just toying with Voldemort and Voldemort is extremely strong. The only wizard that could go toe to toe with him was Dumbledore. That’s why everyone’s scared to say his name. Everyone’s scared that he’s back because he was literally the strongest most evil wizard of all time. but the one person he feared was Dumbledore.

I wish they had included in the movie one of the, possibly, two most emotional scenes from the books. The most emotional and character developing scenes, for Neville, was him visiting his parents in St. Mungo and receiving the candy wrapper. The other IMO is in Goblet of Fire where Harry gets hugged by Mrs. Weasley in the hospital wing after the shock wears off and Harry realizes that he's the one that convinced Cedric to touch the portkey, and survivor's guilt hits Harry.

Craziest part of the Dementor attack at the start is that Dudley couldn't even see them, since he's a Muggle. He just feels their presence, runs with Harry, sees Harry get thrown up against a wall, watches Harry try to say "Run!" to him, then suddenly gets attacked on the floor of the tunnel by something he can't see - just feels his soul and all his happiness getting sucked away. Pretty traumatising, you have to admit.

Hi Cole! A very Happy New Year in advance. I hope 2024 is an amazing and successful year for you. 🎉😊
Another great reaction as always. I love watching along with you and sharing this journey. This one (for me) is the only one I enjoy more than the book. It's a great movie. However, as always, a few clarifications:
It's not shown in the movies, but Mrs Figg is a squib (a non-magical child of wizard parents, like Mr Filch) who lived near the Dursleys. Dumbledore got her to keep an eye out on Harry. The Dursleys used to get Mrs Figg to babysit Harry whenever they wanted to go out somewhere and not take him with them (all the time). They just thought she was a random crazy old cat lady. Harry always hated going there because of all the cats she had.
Yes, Dementors are team Voldemort. They were under ministry control after Voldemort was vanquished though. It was actually Umbridge that sent them to attack Harry. The minister of magic (Fudge) had been looking for a way to discredit Harry and Dumbledore because of his own paranoia and Umbridge took action to get the job done because she had a bit of a crush on the minister.
Neville's parents didn't die. They were tortured into insanity with the cruciatus curse by Bellatrix Lestrange and Barty Crouch Jr (fake Moody). They're committed for life to a ward in the wizarding hospital St Mungos. They're almost dementia-like and don't recognise anyone. That's why Neville lives with his grandma.
Umbridge is the most hated person in the franchise. 97% picked her over Voldemort in an official poll! Haha
Even so, she's MUCH worse in the books.
Filch hates the students because he's jealous. He's a squib with no magical ability so he's bitter towards the kids living the life he wishes he had. So, if there's anything he can do to make life miserable for them, he'll jump at the chance.
Hagrid is a half-giant. Wizard dad. Giantess mother. Yes, I know the mechanics are mind boggling lol. Giants are NOT great parents so his mother left when he was a baby. Broke his father's heart. She later had a baby with another giant and that's Grawp. Grawp was small for a giant though so he got bullied a lot. That's why Hagrid brought him back to Hogwarts with him.
Snape was constantly and severely bullied (physically and emotionally) by James/Sirius and their gang to the point it almost cost him his life on one occasion. He was also stripped naked in front of the entire school by James Potter. He had every reason to be upset when Harry saw that. He controlled his emotions very well considering the circumstances. It happens a little differently in the book however. Snape removes his memories and puts them in Dumbledore's pensieve so Harry can't see them if he accidentally breaks through to Snape's mind. Harry goes snooping though when Snape pops out of the office for a moment. Snape catches him and gets really mad. It burns Harry for quite a while afterwards that the father and godfather he worships were such bullies.
In reality Harry was nowhere near powerful enough to break through Snape's mental defences. Snape is arguably the most powerful wizard alive after both Dumbledore and Voldemort and he's an expert in Legilimency (reading minds) and Occlumency (shield his mind from others). Probably one the best to ever exist in fact.
Cho Chang wasn't a snitch. Unbridge used Veritaserum (truth potion) on all the students during interrogations. That's how she found out about Dumbledore's Army.
Glad that you caught on to Snape playing along with Harry's secret “he's got padfoot at the place where it's hidden” message. He was the one who checked up on Sirius and then sent the Order to rescue them once he found Harry had escaped Umbridge and gone to the Ministry.
In the book, it wasn't even a contest between Tom and Dumbledore. Dumbledore fought Tom, Bellatrix and another death eater while shielding Harry all at the same time and seemed completely bored the whole time. He was sort of testing Tom to see how powerful he'd become, but he was still no match for Dumbledore. As cool as the scene in the movie is, I wish they'd not made it look as equal as they did. Dumbledore didn't even break a sweat in the book.
When Voldemort possessed Harry, he couldn't stand to inhabit a body filled with so much love. That's how Harry managed to expell him.
As I said, great reaction! Unfortunately, the next movie, for me, is the worst one when compared to the book. The book is downright awesome, but the movie director decided to concentrate on some of the lesser side plots and make those the main focal point for some strange reason, rather than the true meat of the source material. It's a little jarring for the book lovers. However, there's still a lot to enjoy in it and I hope you find it entertaining at least. Happy New Year once again and see you in 2024 for more Tomfoolery. 😂

OH YES! I have been waiting to see your reaction to ORDER OF THE PHOENIX! You are correct, they are getting straight to business in this movie. Daniel Radcliffe's hair is short in this Movie due to another film he came out in that required him to have shorter hair for the role. Mrs. Fig is a Squib, born in a magical family but she can't perform any magic. The Dursley's would seek her out to baby sit Harry when they would go on their outings and not include Harry, same with Mr. Filch. Mrs. Fig makes her first appearance in this movie, but we learn of her from the first book. I can't stand Umbridge in the books/movie. Sirius told Harry that Neville's parents suffered a fate worse than death; they were not murdered; they were tortured for such a long time it caused them to lose their sanity. I love Luna Lovegood, yes, some call her Looney behind her back but she's so wise. It happened quickly but Cho was aggressively pulled in by Draco after Umbridge broke the wall down in the room of requirement. Umbridge made her look like she snitched on them by using Veritaserum it's a powerful truth serum. Harry also learned that his father was a bully towards Snape, now you know why Snape didn't like his father. Lucius failed to get the prophecy sphere for Voldemort and Voldy will not be pleased. So excited to watch your reaction to the next one!
