Great trick w the elastic hair doodles! We use them and hate them too, lol. Can you believe i actually try to reuse them?

I love that you are following and sharing gentle and respectful parenting. I always go back to empathy, if in doubt empathise with a child and show love. It takes so much patience and practice but now I have a nearly 7 year old that mirrors this behaviour back to me when I’m struggling it makes it all worth while ❤️

I have an 11 month old but I’ve been watching you since before you had sage and it’s been nice having you a year and a half ahead of me because I feel like anytime I encounter a new challenge you have just gone through it and already posted a video that helps so much! Thanks for being my new mom guide!!!

We have a calm down box and we keep it in a separate room with different toys and books that stay only in that bin for the purpose of calming our toddlers down. The colorful liquid bubble hourglass is great! We also have a little sequence pillow that changes colors when you rub it in different directions and the book Press Here is a great one!

Thank you for the real stories. The authenticity helps me feel more grounded. You & Matt seem like wonderful parents and we have a 21 month old so it's great to hear about the stages that are coming. We also live in Calgary so your Canadian content is much appreciated.
For your teeth-brushing: Definitely done what you did but I've also given a toothbrush to my son to "try" himself he sticks it in as I do the main (all) the real brushing and in this season it works well. The cleaning up together we are starting and I will FOR SURE use the timer strategy. I have also used the "see the package is empty" for snacks! So thank you so much!
Our small apartment is a bit chaotic and messy at times so it would be great to see the steps of how you taught independent playing so that my wife (mainly) and I can have two hands to clean/cook/do work etc. Thanks!

Hey Nikole, an easier and maybe more affordable hack is to use a Rubberband Cutter for hair, a simple hook tool to break the band! xo

I love that our girls are so close in age because it s nice to exchange tricks 😅
    Giving her choices definitely helps.
Last night we were having lots of screaming at bed time ( and protest poop) in a glimmer of genius I told her she could sing twinkle twinkle ( her favorite for bedtime) to her teddy bear and I still can’t believe that worked and she layed there and went to sleep 😂🤯

Yes, they do enjoy cleaning up so much that they will intentionally make a mess, a least my 2 year-old! And apparently by the time they can actually clean up without making an even bigger mess their cleaning aspirations evaporate...

I love the timer one. I tell my toddler that he has 5 more mins when we’re about to leave places but I’ll definitely start using an actual timer to see if it is more effective. Thank you❤

    • @evanneofficial

A time timer (I also have the pocket version so you can bring that with you) can help too, so your child can actually see how much time there is left 😊

Something I have found with my 2 year old for when he is balancing on his tower or climbing something he shouldn't, is asking him if he's safe. I'll just say 'Hey Luca, are you safe right now?' He'll often stop and think and then hop down himself because he'll realise what he's doing may not end so well 😅
Hopefully it means down the track, that little question will pop in his head when I'm not there to ask it myself ❤
    Love your videos 🥰

For my son's hair I used a baby fabric hair tie to tie his hair every time he eat so it doesn't go all over his eyes. It won't break their little hair and easy to take it out. (It just don't stay for a long time though)

I can't even count how many times my baby bite us while brushing his teeth with the finger brush. 😂 Now that he's1,5yo we've been using small tooth brushes. But also the other night, he used one of them to make himself gag and puke his diner. He thought it was hilarious. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I gotta switch things up 😅😬🌪️
