Laying on bed school night . Homework not done mum and dad downstairs watching TV. Still recovering from the Jam breaking up and thinking music has finished Put my Pye bedside clock radio on for the John peel show And this comes on. Never forget it . The best Band ever.
Ahh! I feel you man. As a kid in the States I had to listen to college radio in Atlanta to hear the bands I liked. The Jam were and still are in my top 5. The Smiths are number 1
i think the version of What Difference Does It Make? is far better here than on the album, Miserable Lie is just about equal, albeit this version has a bit more pish and vinegar which i like. the version of Reel Around The Fountain on the self-titled is one of my favourite songs by the smiths though, that piano part is beautiful.
What difference does it make One of my favourite smiths songs Marrs guitar Morrisseys lyrics the whole song arrangement Brilliant I still remember the first time I heard it on the John peel show I was 16 Blew my mind
Both versions are superb: this one is raw and real, the LP version has a wall of sound that wiped the floor with everything else in the top 40 at the time. For me, both are essential for every record collection 😁
"I'm feeling very sick and ill today, / but I'm still fond of you, oh ho." Just the slightest bit bitter ... makes me smile a wry smile. JC they were good.
I'm surprised how many straight men love moz and or the Smith's. Morrissey says what is in every trampled ,broken, never had no one ever soul. And we love him for it!

how lucky we were
I have the original peel sessions vinyl. And yes, I feel pretty happy about it
that's so cool!
i'll give you 300 dollars
I have it in King Kong Cassette…it’s F’n Ace
I’d kill for that
Hey could you please make a vynil rip and upload that? The Smiths in vynil has to sound really awesome
These versions of Miserable Lie and Reel Around the Fountain are a lot better than the studio versions, I gotta say.
all instruments sound better and more natural than on the studio album ... very well recorded by the BBC I guess^
Totally! Absolutely agree 100%! I owned this album back in 1989-ish... high school days! Great memories!

they certainly capture the feeling of being at a their live shows
Yeah the bass and drum mix is much fuller and punchier. You really get to hear how dynamic they were live. A year before I was born, sadly!

The definitive song for me he couldn't wait to be seen performing that song

This version of Miserable Lie is thrilling
This one needs to be played really LOUD! and it’s what I’m doing right now! :))
What difference does it makes was the first song i heard by the Smiths...and there began all my dreams🎶
And on headphones for the echo on "Reel around the fountain"
Simplemente fantástico!

He got on stage and didnt give two fucks about what anyone thought.
I’m a straight and I have been in love with Mozz and The Smiths since the The 80s
Could the reason be they produced a hell quality music, not about sexuality really.
@@ChainNonSmoker Nothing to do with sexuality, yes.
Sorry dude, that's how we all feel.
Glorioso
Damn. Those high vocals. Oh Morissey, teach me your ways.
I would love to have this on vinyl
Me too
I kill for this ep

the canvas/pallette of marr´s gave morrrisey the perfect landscape for his lyrics IMO
...❤️
Smiths fans are definitely rolling nerdy.
The f does that even mean? "Rolling"? Are you 12?
The strength of this band is still mesmerizing i hate to say but morrissey is going to drop dead on stage
Born to perform.

@@GHam-f9o does it have to happen on a "patio" or will anywhere do?
mikemb123 couldn’t tell you
You could try the scullery room? Who will suck who?
The patio reminds me the school, the childhood, is like being back to those years...
What ever became of this band ? Did they practically change the landscape of (for lack of better term) the indie scene in The UK and beyond ?
They created the indie scene if you like
ChainNonSmoker no they did not, were part of it yes, the indie scene had been around since at least 1976.
Nothing like them before or since. Broke up before ever releasing a bad LP
I don't know what these people are saying, practically, most of the 90's britpop was influenced by the Smiths
@@doguerman ??? No one said anything about that.
