    My current/temporary setup is also in an unofficial storage area of my place and my print table is just two unused bedside tables that are stabilized with other large items being stored there lol. Most 3D printing videos have picture perfect pro level setups and definitely nothing wrong with that but it's refreshing seeing similar makeshift setups like mine. You videos are super down to earth, will definitely be watching the rest of your journey

    For me, getting a smooth print plate and using some type of brim or "mouse ears" on the corners of my prints has helped a lot with resolving corner warping and general adhesion issues.
    I got an A1 myself a few months ago, so I'm excited to follow your journey and maybe learn something along the way : )

      I tried that recently it seems to work for me as well! Hope you're enjoying your A1 mini as much as I am and if there is anything you think I'm missing out on whether it's a print or know-how feel free to let me know :)

    Ironically the bad bed adhesion could be caused by wet filament. Being in the bathroom won’t help that lol

      Hahaha all good! Maybe I should’ve put that section earlier. This was more complicated to film and edit compared to my earlier videos so apologies if the formatting wasn’t the best.
      But to answer your concerns, definitely not a wet filament problem. I think it has to do with the actually filament itself? Not sure if other people have this problem with Overture.

    Hi Jackie,
    I came across your videos, and they are amazing! I've been using 3D printers for about 2-3 years now, and I noticed your Bambu printer is using a PEI sheet. With a PEI sheet, you typically don’t need to use glue. Instead, you can remove it, wash it with water and a drop of dish soap to clean it, and let it dry completely. Before each print, simply use a cloth and 99.9% isopropyl alcohol to wipe it down-this should help improve adhesion.
    Glue is usually recommended for older print surfaces or glass beds. Another thing to check is that the printer is properly leveled and that the temperatures are set correctly for your specific filament type. Keep in mind that different brands and types of filaments require different nozzle and bed temperatures.
    I hope this helps and makes it easier to get your printer back up and running smoothly! and back on your office. 👍

    • @JackieMakesStuff1
      @JackieMakesStuff1  Месяц назад

      Hey @Louyz12! Thanks for the tip. I actually tried that and wash/clean my PEI sheet after every 5 or so prints. But for some reason it's just the Overture 3d PLA that doesn't stick to the bed at all. With the other PLA Pro filaments I have this isn't a problem. Once I do finish the Overture PLA I'm going to try a different brand like ESun and see if it's just a matter of the brand's filament that is not working. But appreciate the support and you looking out for me.

      @@JackieMakesStuff1 Try raising the bed temperature and just play around with speeds and temperatures in general. I have found out that I have much more success if I increase the bed temp by 10 deg celsius.

    Back in 2011 when I started using 3d printers I would use hair spray on the base to help with adhesion. Also built a heated chamber around the 3d printer.

    Hey Jackie, how do you create that window lighting on the printer in the background of the video? Is it practical or setup with a hard point source light? Love the videos man.

    • @JackieMakesStuff1
      @JackieMakesStuff1  22 дня назад

      Hey! It’s a hard light with an optical snoot. I tried to hint it in the talking heads shot but I think I actually made the composition worse that way hahah! But that’s what the light stand to my right was for!

    I got myself a P1S. I opened a new roll of PLA+ and it unravelled to the point where i had to cut it into smaller pieces. i have the ams but i had to feed the sections manually. all my prints are great apart from this filament, because it has absorbed moisture. i have PLA+ that i opened with the f*cked filament and it works perfectly. MOISTURE is the ENEMY. Try getting an enclosure Thin acryllic sheets, 3d print some brackets. a little silicon, and Bob's your uncle!
    Happy printing my guy!

    I had the same problem using the same printer and bed, what solves it and reduced my print popping off was washing the plate with dish soap and water before every print, then increasing bed heat temp in the controls to 75-80, after that for support add initial layer to be 5 instead of default 2, since I added this method had maybe 2 failed prints where they popped off and that was because of me forgetting to do these steps 😂 where I live its quite cold so had to adjust

    • @JackieMakesStuff1
      @JackieMakesStuff1  Месяц назад

      I tried that but it really didn't work.. I'm not sure why. I've done the same with PLA pro and that works but nothing works with the PLA from overture... Maybe I got a bad copy?

    I think the idea to use the room for ventilation and the wall for a whiteboard are both brilliant. I was wondering about humidity until you explained it away. I've not had issues with PLA sticking to the PEI plate. Maybe it's not the new filament but rather the fact that the bed has gotten dirtier? Have you considered just washing it in the kitchen sink with dishsoap and are you using alcohol between prints? I wish I had a bathroom I could use for my printer. ;-)

    • @JackieMakesStuff1
      @JackieMakesStuff1  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you (for the praise and watching the whole video)! I'm not sure, I clean my bed quite often every 3-4 prints. I wash it with warm water and then spray it down with alcohol before wiping it down. Still had the same problem. But I'm pretty lucky to have a spare space like this. Works out perfectly!

    • @3Dprintinglawyer
      @3Dprintinglawyer Месяц назад

      @JackieMakesStuff1 I use alcohol right before every print, keep a dust cover on the printer, and wash with soap if things stop sticking. I do need glue for petg, but then need to wash with soap and alcohol several times after using glue to have pla stick again without glue. Lots of opinions out there though. Look forward to seeing the next design and an update on the mailboxes.

      @ yeah, I saw some people talking about the glue, but I figured out that the grease from my fingers was the problem, so I saw somebody saying I you should just wash it with water and soap, and yeah, works perfectly. I print with Matte PLA. Glue seems kinda messy and it builds up, no?

  • @JDMLCO
    @JDMLCO 25 дней назад

    Perhaps humidity (not bathroom-specific, as you've addressed that) is part of the problem. Have you bought a cheap hygrometer to make sure you don't need more protection for your filament?

    • @JackieMakesStuff1
      @JackieMakesStuff1  24 дня назад

      Don't have a hygrometer but since we don't use that bathroom, it's pretty dry year round. I've also added a de-moisturizer in the room to make sure as well.

    I’ve been using the a1 for a couple of months and had some problems with bed adhesion too, most of it were solved by increasing the temperature of the hot end and build plate or not using the fan while printing. I have noticed though that cheaper filaments sometimes leave residue on the build plate especially the textured PEI and it took a few scrubs with warm water and dish soap to get my plate fresh again. 🧼

    • @JackieMakesStuff1
      @JackieMakesStuff1  Месяц назад

      I did try that but not sure how I can make the bed temperature stay high. Did you control it prior to the print or during?
