One thing I've learned is that many words can be pronounced many different ways depending where in the state, or part of the world one is from. 🌞
So much good info, Eric! Thank you!

That was indeed very informative. Thank you.
Wonderful of u to share
Such a good informational video!! You have come a long way my friend. See you at the next party. And you’ll have to come my way soon.
Great teaching video! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Great video Eric! When you are taking off the yellow leaves or talking about cutting off the spike ... perhaps mentioning Physan and why you would apply it might be good info for people? Just a thought. 🤷🏼♀️
Orchid life rocks.....Good job my friend..!
No Debbie, YOU ROCK!!!!
Love this. My Vandas have been a little wrinkled on the leaf which I’m assuming is dehydration. So now taking that 2/3 times watering advice ☺️
Just subscribed I'm getting into vanda.s so I'm here!!!
Thanks for sharing all of this, Eric. Salutations from Canada! 😉
THANK YOU!
Beautiful
love the end credits lolol
Love it! Well said, Eric💜
I always repot my new orchids and Phal…
I keep some Phal in water (tall vase) - doing real well - last for months .
Thank you for this video Eric. Out here in London, we don’t get to keep our vandas outside and that causes difficulties in terms of using hoses or sprinklers for regular watering. I have been spaying them with filtered water once a day in the morning which is manageable in an indoor setup. I also soak them in a tall bucket with fertilizer once a week. In one of the videos in this channel it was said that soaking damages the roots and makes them susceptible to fungal rot. I just wanted to check if there is way around this whereby one soaks the plant carefully without damaging the roots. Otherwise I’m going to have to bring them into the bathroom to give them the required amount of water everyday which is not practical to say the least. I’ll be grateful for your view on this matter. Cheers
The dancing lady is an oncydium...there are a few varieties that will fall under "dancing lady"...Sweet Sugar is just one of many.
Cal-mag , when to use and how often to use, and how much per gallon . For all orchids. What is the purpose of cal-mag for orchids?
Oncidium sphacelatum
keep it up eric

Thank you for the valuable info. A new sub from earlier today when you purchased a vanda at R&R. I took a,10 yr break in orchids & have the fever bad. Collection is growing & wow how things have changed. Do you use protect on your plants?
yes , I use Protect instead of Diathane-45
any recommendation where to buy the charcoal. Great and informative video. First time viewer of your channel. Keep posting
I bought min on amazon, be care full there are some that are really fine like 1/4 inch chips these can be a pain in pots with holes ... look for the 1/3 chips unless your are working with seedlings
Excellent video! In regards to using cal mag or epsom salt to help with too much sun ... how much and how often?
These will help with magnesium deficiencies and help to "green up" plants... typically for epsom I use 1 tablespoon per gallon of water and apply liberally once a month... a little less in the hot summer months ... for cal mag read the product instructions but go with the more diluted mixes , I use an organic cal mag in trace amounts daily for the moment to correct some issues I noticed.... so far so good ;-)
Hi,I mounted my Phalnophosis orchid can I leave it in the rain and will it get crown rot for being in the rain
When do you need to apply epsom salt and how often do you apply it?
How about separating keikies from mother plant vandas? Is it safe ?
What orchid is 3:15 ??
Those spikes are huge!
Thats one of my Shomburgkias :-)
How much time does a dendrobium orchid takes time to grow?
I’m a new fan! I do water my orchids in 2-3 rounds like you say, but I have a question please. Do I do all rounds with fertilizer or just the first round?? Thank you.
when feeding , feed the same way you water. 1st round opens the cell tissue of the roots 2nd and 3rd is when they will absorb more of the nutrient.
Hey Eric, can you share with me what to feed vanda who has blooms already and what strength? I appreciate if you could share with me.
i dont change my feeding schedule.. I use DynaGrow bloom and DynaGrow Gro. I feed 0nce a week at about 8ml per gal of water... for 3 weeks i use the Grow on the 4th week I use the bloom... in the winter I do 2 weeks grow 2 weeks bloom. here is a link to the fert amzn.to/4aUV6fR and amzn.to/4aRgimZ
@@orchidlife8224 Thanks so much Eric. Just started growing Vanda and I get my orchids from Tony your friend so I know you know how to care for Vanda with the looks of your greenhouse.
How about winter?
I’m in California and my orchids seem to not be doing so well
1) I don’t use humidifier and I don’t know if I should
2) I repot them after it flowers but they never rebloom just leaves and no blooms fertilize once a month
3) get a lot of root rot even though I don’t water them as should
I am just learning so what is it that I have to learn more of
orchids like to be potted tight, to big a pot can lead to rot as the medium may not dry quick enough for the orchid in question. I like to pot mine in wood charcoal, they love the carbon and the medium dries quickly
🥰
WOWW, your vandas looks amazing. What a roots wooww, some are taller than you. Incredible. I don’t think you need advising, you doing it like a pro 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
When and how often should I use CalMed on my vandas?
Read the label for manufacturers recommendations, some you can use a trace amount daily and some are better as just a monthly addition to your feeding schedule.
Bonsoir 'avez vous vendez des Vanda ou mokara ? combien coûte une Vanda ? Merci
How often do you use cal-mag?
A Pro orchid grower advised cal mag when he saw some yellowing on my plants, I had stopped epsom treatments after winter but you could tell something was going wrong... I picked up and organic cal mag 2 weeks ago and am using trace amounts daily at the moment with good results... so far I am mixing 2 tablespoons -25 gallons
Where can I get the charcoal for my cattaleyas?
I use lump charcoal that you use in a grill. Use a hammer to break large pieces and wash the dust off. But remember,..its lightweight,...so maybe put some rocks in bottom of pot.
I have watched videos that say when watering phals ... to not let water get on the leaves because water will seep down and rot the crown and you said to water the whole plant. What do I do?
The leaves benefit from moisture and nutrients as well, with the shape of the leaves on a phal sometimes water can puddle, if this is happening then yes ... as long as you are watering in the morning allowing for the crown to dry before the cooler night time conditions you should be ok.... yes , phals do not need as much water as the vandas and encyclias but aslo grow in more shade.... pay close attention to where you are growing and when you are watering let the phals get there needed dry period and do your best not to disturb the roots when repotting or mounting ... :-)
As long as the phal has time to dry it will be fine, the fact the it is mounted will help.... when I mount phalanx I fix the a little sideways so water drains from the crown.... in periods of heavy rain your gonna want to use physan 20 or zeretol to get rid of topical funguses and deter black rot
Hallo what type of charcoal do you use?
Greetings Jan from South Africa. 🙂
I use horticultural wood charcoal, I have heard of people using regular store bought wood lump charcoal however.
amzn.to/3w8j6rG
do you cut spikes on Phals also ?
yes
@@orchidlife8224 Do you wait till they turn brown ? Maybe you could elaborate a little on this. Thank-you so much !
LOL love your videos but One small correction, the baby plants are called: Kei-ki, not ki-ki. Keiki is a Hawaiian word for child.
That being said...Question: Is it better to remove some of the Keikis to propagate another plant and not suck the life from the parent? Or better to leave them on?
i leave mine and just let the plant get huge ... i like big healthy plants... if you have healthy roots it will support everything the plant needs no matter the size
also any text was added to this via you tube ... im not responsible for any spelling ... also i am a horrible speller :-)
