As someone who doesn’t own a home but helps my parents occasionally with these, I imagine these would allow us to do proper work and not just rely on those cheap plastic tubings anymore. Very impressive!
The m12 jaw change is a better design. The m18 pin over time gets stuck and you have to constantly lube the pin. You don't have that issue with the m12.
@@zueszues3178 it's no difference in presses. Basically if you do residential work get the m12 as it can press 1/2" up to 1 1/4" and 1/2" to 3/4" on megapress. The m12 is much smaller and lighter and easier to use. If you commerical work or you need to press bigger than 1 1/4" get the m18.

those press fittings are becoming more common. with the press units becoming more compact I hope that will make them even more main stream which will in turn make the fittings and tools cheaper and easier to find and for us home gamers to get.
You think I should get this if I’m just doing basic swaps on residential water heaters ? I figured it would reduce my install time and the no flame is great for when I’m in big apartment buildings with sprinklers and whatnot,I’d get the the m12 for just 1/2 and 3/4 work
Very Cool! Really Amazing tools Both M18 & M12. Definitely Game changing tools I've heard guys praise these tools for time saving & just effortless work compared to working with a flame all around just Bad Ass! Really Great Upload this channel has really taught me so much in the last 2 year's invaluable information & I appreciate every bit! :)
Good thing he has the press because he doesn’t know how to solder. Bottom to top. Heat rises. Soldering the bottom joint can suck the top one. That being said the press too is awesome. Very informative video. Sorry for the plumber ridicule.
Yup. No credibility here. Soldering skill below average, joints look terrible after wiping with the big glove (the idea is to see virtually no solder when you are done JOURNEYMAN, oh and always solder AFTER threading in your adapters to increase the chances of a leak :)
I know this is only an opinion and I'm not a plumber but giving the fact that this type of connection used to be done by the first method he used ie soldering then can someone explain how a crimp is going to be as reliable as a weld
De Walter The tool itself tells you when you need a service check. It is somewhere around 30,000 to 40,000 crimps I believe. The tools are getting a lot better.
We can use in pipingrefregerator that tbe size of pipe 1/4 and filter drier for capilliary tube 1/8 hope so have the tools amazing no need to solder. 9
I baught the m18 cause id rather have the ability to do everything over the compact size of the m12. We will see how long that idea lasts in the field but
I bought the 12 volt one a few years back, I smile every time I use it, not sure how much the jaws are, but might be nice if Milwaukee offered it with just 1/2 and 3/4 jaws, I have never used the 1 inch jaw, I just stashed it at home to save a few pounds when I drag it throug a crawl space, and that is where this tool shines
Streeters Garage Yes, but at this time I believe you would need a different set of jaws..... Unless you used a type of fitting meant for these jaws.... I learned so much from Steve about this it was overwhelming.
Streeters Garage Thanks bud. The cars are a blast.... But we blew up the Chevelle Big Block last week. A broken rocker made a mess of everything. I guess this is our chance to build bigger. The Monte SS is a survivor.. lol... it survived sitting in a shop for almost 30 years. Has 7,000 miles on it. Been replacing some vacuum lines and cleaning up the carb.
I don't think you can use this on pex. With PEX, don't you have to expand the end, put in the fitting, then the end will go back to normal after a couple seconds.
Vance Hamilton It started in 1999 in the US when Ridgid bought the rights so it and brought it in. Forgive me if I slaughter some of this, but Viega makes a ton of joints and is constantly increasing the sizes. They will be coming out with a Mega-Pess fitting at 4" this summer for schedule 40 black pipe. This is the direction it is going as the joints are now cheap enough for it to make sense.
WorkshopAddict This is the best thing I've seen for quick repairs and whatnot. Unfortunately the price has it at a trade tool rather than a handyman / homeowner tool. I'll be keeping an eye on this though. As the resident frozen pipe repair guy with family and friends, this tool makes a lot of sense.
Vance Hamilton It has a commercial tool price, that is for sure. Once you use it, it makes sense as these guys can pay for the cost of the tool in once job with the time savings. The smaller independent guys can take on larger jobs as they don't have a fire watch. Makes sense. But for the handyman, it's an expensive tool.....
John, I'm just rethinking my comment. You're likely in the US which means more than likely you're just running hot and cold water services. My comment would mostly apply to the type of heating systems we install in Europe. Far too often I come across work where the client has started and I need to sort the mess out.
Yeah, I'm from the US, and just talking about hot and cold water. Although I do have a steam system, but the furnace was replaced last year, after 25 years of no problem. But I would even mess with that, those pipes are run a certain way that, you would know, have to be replaced the same way, with the same layout and pipe diameter. Or else it won't work correctly. So that, I would leave up to a pro.
Fact is this is for dummies that 1 can not solder 2 wont do the work fire watch etc., clearing flux 3 aren’t plumbers So they can sell fittings that are 8x’s as much.
Pex actually has some funky chemicals that leach from it, I used a bit of pex in my own home system but pex systems have their own drawbacks. It's always tradeoffs in the world we live in

Almost 8 minutes of talk and a guy using a electrical plier like called force logic, but: HOW DOES IT WORK ? WHAT IT IS GOING ON WITH THE METAL WHEN IT IS COMPRESS? HOW ABOUT TURBULENCE INSIDE PIPE ETC,ETC....
I finally saved the money and bought this expensive bastard. The time it saves is unbelievable.
