Walking Through the Streets of Reykjavik, Iceland
Iceland has always been my favourite country in the world to live in. Its temperature is cold, the skies are mostly grey but nonetheless I love cold and grey clouds and rain/snow... Its massive quantity of environment is stunning and overwhelming, the fact of not having crowded/clusted places is fascinating either and there (with the pure air and plus), we can have a heathy and restful live. Also hearing their language is pleasantly gorgeous
Yes you just perfectly described my feelings
I agree with the previous comment, we share the same thoughts
But it's getting crowded by tourist and people wanting to move there.
Yes and learn the language if you gonna live there, don't ruin it by expecting to be spoken in English for your convinience.
@@raffaellabrizuelasigurdard2398 you look tan as fux so you aren't even a full native nordic. Unless of course your a pharoah like me. The first ones came through the nords. Otherwise i don't think ur one to talk.
the lack of tall buildings really soothes my mind
In this part of town yes
I prefer not a lot of tall buildings because I think it's more open and doesn't cover the sun. Very peaceful and soothing.
The only tall building is the church. The way it should be
And the lack of trees
I live in a place with no tall buildings . It actually sucks, feels like a village
I love that type of gloomy weather. The constant hot sun is getting on my nerves. Hawaii is hella expensive too almost like Iceland. That pisses me off even more. 😂
hamajangz
Same! I’m pretty much tired of sunny-killing weather!
From a video, yes. In reality, no. There is a reason why alcoholism, drug-use and suicide is sky-high here.
Everyone who says he likes it never really lived through it.
And you'd get tired of this constant gloomy weather as much as you're tired of the endless sun...
@Wi won how do you know that he's white and why does it matter anyways
Wi won oh i misinterpreted you, i thought you were only refering to the ' if you were here'
I can feel the coldness of Iceland just by watching this video 🇮🇸
Greetings from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Iceland is one of the best countries ever, one of my top 5 countries to live in, it has mostly beautiful green nature, plus it has one of the prettiest languages ever ever - I highly recommend learning Icelandic & Norse and also Dutch / Gothic / Norwegian / Faroese / Danish / Welsh, as they are one of the prettiest languages ever like English and are way too pretty not to know!
It looks beautiful, so clean and hardly any noise from traffic👍
We all know why.
It's because of the low interest yields from the sub-prime mortgage boom.
Except for the graffiti on the building on the beginning.
Michelle Green Just like İn Istanbul where I live!
@@nigelgibson2242 yeah keep dreaming. Some neighbourhoods in Istanbul are shitholes. Most actually. Also the traffic and noise is REALLY bad for every single part of the city and this is known for a fact. It is like worse than Miami and LA and stuff from what statistics I know.
Edit: Though it is not fair to compare a 15 million city with a place like this and Istanbul does look beautiful from afar.
So scarcely populated, how do the shops run?! Well-lit but almost empty structures... that's why things are expensive 😐
So nice to see how humans were able to settle in such a diverse range of regions. It makes me happy to see societies flourish in these kind of regions (just like on those little islands in the Pacific). Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia, South America, and God bless Iceland.
Thank you, and likewise, God bless beautiful Colombia.

Thanks for doing what I planned to do my whole life, walking around in Reykjavik and showing it unedited. Unfortunately my back got old at a very young age, so I am not able to travel anymore. What I really love is the cold weather and beautiful landscapes. Iceland is a paradise for me 💙
This kinda weather is my definition of A PERFECT DAY
I really appreciate this opportunity you've given us to see Iceland from the capital's streets!! Thank you!!!
Reykjavik has to be the coziest capital city in the world. All those lights look so warm and inviting against the dull grey sky
it does looks like that, but you will hate it soon enough. Things tend to get old very quickly.
I really enjoy the walking through streets videos. Its so interesting to see the different buildings and people out in the street! you get to see things you wouldn't normally see as people usually make videos of attraction sites and popular places.
Iceland is much more of a tourist destination now than when we lived there for three years in the 80's, they might not do it as much now, but you would routinely see Icelandic babies sleeping in their prams on the sidewalk while their moms were shopping in the boutiques.
Most people still do it and most likely will always do.
Still do it. Also in Denmark where I live (I am originally from Iceland.) I believe they also do it in the other Nordic countries.
It was done in the US decades back, I just read that today.
Speaking for the babies in the prams outside, since I can remember very far back (and also because I had my pram until I was two and a half), it is wonderful sleeping outside in the fresh air. All warm and fuzzy in your clothes and covers, but with your face free. It is just the best. We should all do it!
Was in iceland 2 years ago and this brings back many good memories. I wish I could go back
Nice video. I lived there for six months in the early 90's while serving in the Navy.

Clean, dissiplined populations, not overcrowded, everything works, education and good working health system, etc.....Not in Africa, the opposite! Love to Iceland from SA!!❤❤❤
@Franky Padilla the problem is that iceland belongs to the schengen area and for example if a criminal is nationalized in a country of the european union he can go uncontrolled to iceland so iceland is not protected also how they live from tourism will become visible and many new potentials immigrants will look for a way to stay and multiculturalize the country.
I sincerely tell you a safe and white country without the risk of being multiculturalized is the Faroe Islands, and if you resist the cold a lot and want to live quietly, Greenland, Nuuk, then in continental Europe you have Belarus. The rest of Europe is doomed as long as the European Union exists.

I was actually kinda amazed that you were able to walk through a major city and not see any homeless people and then I forgot that you are in a civilized country unlike the USA
Coz it's mostly homogeneous country and people have pride and care for their country and citizens.

you just missed the World Chess Championship of 1972 with Bobby Fischer. crazy that a small Icelandic city was hosting a major event that would go down in Cold War history.
The absolute high temperature record in Reykjavik in January since 1949 is 10C. If you got 9C you were extremely luck. It was a life time event!
I see, so it was warmer than usual, that makes sense.
Holy shit. The lowest temperature I ever experienced was 9C and I thought I would die. I'm used to 20~35C the entire year. I cannot imagine myself living there. Although it would be cool commuting to school or work without fear of being shot or stabbed.

Gabriel, in 1986 I served in the USAF. I was a helicopter mechanic. We had a USAF base in Reykjavik and heard lots of stories from US airman who were stationed on the island. The winter storms were tough. What you are experiencing is the huge impact of climate change. Large amount of ice cold water sublimes off the Greenland ice sheet and travels down to the gulf of Mexico and some of of that hot water migrates back to the north Atlantic. I was a little shocked just to see how warm it is on the island. But worlds oceans are heating up and absorbing enough heat energy "48 tera joules of energy" or equal to 8 thermal nuclear bombs per second
No..., climate change or not the weather in Iceland is always changing, and has not warmed significantly... and ironically is one of the only places on planet earth that is not predicted to warm much if at all. January is often quite warm, because of the tropical storms in the Gulf of Mexico blowing up the Atlantic.... the next day might have been freezing with a blizzard from the North... and the next day after rainy and warm south-westly winds... that is typical Icelandic weather. There was a mini cold spell from the early 1960s to the late 1970s where the weather was generally a bit colder on average than now... and in the years around 2000 it was a bit warmer on average... but this... this is typical.
I would LOOOOVE to live in Iceland. I love cold weather

Info.: On December 1, 1918, Iceland gained sovereignty. The Danish king Christian X. remained until the founding of the republic, on June 17, 1944, the Icelandic head of state. Therefore, members of the Danish royal family, who were born before 17 June 1944, also have an Icelandic given name, such as the current Queen Margrethe II, which bears the name Þórhildur.
