THANK YOU! apple would've charged me a TON if I got it fixed there, and since I didn't have applecare I either had to wait for my phone upgrade, or I had to get it repaired by myself. I bought the toolkit and then waited for my replacement screen to finally ship. I saw your tutorial and I trusted you since I've been watching you for awhile. The tutorial was flawless. That one connecter that goes from the home button to the mainboard was a pain to put back, but I successfully did it!
Thanks a bunch I was successful replacing the screen. I transferred the 5s screen to the se phone . I didn’t however change out the home buttons , my thumb recognition doesn’t work , I’m sure it’s because I need to swap those buttons
$50 is a lot? Seems like the tookit costs almost as much. After watching this video I decided to just pay someone to transfer my Old 5s screen to my shattered SE .
Just wanted to take a moment and thank you for this great how-to! I followed the step-by-step instructions, went back and forth and even paused the video throughout the replacement. Thank you so much!!!!!
FANTASTIC guide. Simple, fast and thorough. I've used a lot of these videos over the years to repair different devices and this video is the easiest to follow BY FAR. Thank you.
The iPhone SE is a small wonder, hopefully Apple doesn't stop supporting it too soon. Even though it came out after the 6S Apple still groups it with the 5S which is odd
BanankoMC early 2019 most likely with updates. AT&T just recently stopped supporting the iPhone 2g which is 10 years old. So you can still use it, but probably can't update it to a new OS
THANK YOU!!! I replaced the battery on my father in law's iphone and while I was placing the screen back in the display cracked. I ordered a new one on Amazon and your calm, cool, collected video helped me replace it.
This is by far the BEST video on how to replace screens.... One small piece of advice...... When taking off the first ribbon cable.. Use plastic tweezers.... The battery is still connected and it could possibly short out... But all the videos Jerry makes are Top Notch !!
Excellent tutorial, and by far the most helpful on this task. A few specific suggestions after completing the replacement: 1) A single-edge razor blade is a good pry bar, as long as you are careful. The plastic pick in the replacement kit ('Weelpower') was great to open cables, but not to lift the screen 2) A sheet 8x11/A4 with double-sided Scotch tape helps organize your materials, and lets you add notes 3) Buy a good toolkit with tweezers, similar to the pair used in the video 4) Be patient when you put the front camera as sensors in - they are a pain in a** to line up right, and it is very easy to crack a new screen 5) For some of the small cable couplings, wetting the end of my fingertip (sticks to the plastic) made it easier to click in. This is gave more precise feedback for me, but YMMV 6) Work over a paper towel or white cloth - this screws wont bounce away if they fall off, and will be easier to see In general, get an inexpensive pair of magnifying glasses and have a good light source overhead.
Really detailed instructions and excellent video production. Fixed my kid’s SE inside of about 2hrs. The tools that came with my replacement screen kit were lousy. I recommend using the grade of tools shown in the video...especially the screen pry tool. Also, keep the whole job contained in a tray, box or some type of container that won’t let the screws fall on the floor. And bring lots of patience...the guy in the video is very skilled and makes the job look easy. It’s not super difficult, but it will take time if you’ve never changed a screen before.
For me, getting the home button ribbon cable plugged back in and the metal clip on top of it was one of the easiest parts. I struggled with getting that metal bracket over the ear piece and everything to sit in there flat without sticking up. And the strong magnet kept grabbing the screws off the end of my screwdriver. This video was very helpful and I couldn't have figured it all out myself in one night. Very intense job, got it done and everything works, but I don't think I'll attempt another one.
Thank you so much. I didn't feel like spending over $100 to get it fixed at the mall over here. I got a new screen and did it myself. You're a life saver. Only problem I had was the home button. I didn't get it on there good enough but good thing "Assistive Touch" is a thing.
I have used your video twice now and it is spot on, thank you! The only caution I would recommend is when "snapping" in the screen to the back. If you are not careful, the part of the screen around the home button could crack - I'll let you guess as to how I know. Thanks again, great video, perfect explanation.
I was able to take apart my daughter’s SE with ease thanks to you and my $10 repair kit from amazon. In my daughter’s eyes I am now a tech genius😆. THANK U!!!
JerryRigEverything, a great many THANKS for making this video!!! It helped TREMENDOUSLY today when I replaced the screen/digitizer on our old iPhone SE. We are now able to pass this phone along to our kids to have an extra device to play with, and it will hopefully help ‘keep the peace’ just a bit more around the house while we endure the isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. I do have to say, you did a GREAT JOB pointing out the specifics, such as with the clip that retains the Home Button Cable Connector!!! You certainly have an EYE FOR DETAIL, and enjoy the fact that you do not use a single, static camera angle. The various camera angles helped phenomenaly! Overall, A VERY PROFESSIONAL JOB 👍👍 Just a quick side-note, I worked in IT for a very, very long time, and repaired many laptops over the years, but this was my first time inside an Apple device. That being said, I am amazed at how small the screws, parts, and connectors are compared to a laptop computer. This was definitely way more difficult than a typical screen repair (or just about any routine repair) on a laptop which took me 10 to 15 minutes last time on an Acer Aspire 3-series. I really could not have completed this repair in under an hour without such ATTENTION TO DETAIL!!! Thanks again, and best of luck on your future videos, and other endeavors! ✌️
Nice. My "complete replacement part" had a couple plastic do-hickies near the camera that had to be moved over from the original broken screen seen near the tip of the tweezers at 2:22. At 2:04 your new screen may have a protective cover on the inside; remove (it's not shown here)
Dropped my phone face first on concrete....dreaded picking it up, and yes the screen was shattered. Ordered a generic replacement on Amazon, and followed your excellent video exactly. My phone works perfectly. Thanks so much for the work involved in making this excellent video.
Dude you are my hero. My girlfriend goes through a lot of screens, lol . Seriously though, love your videos. Didn't realize you did such a wide range of things on your vids, keep up the good work. Thanks again and God bless
I followed the video step by step and was able to fix my wife's phone (cracked screen) in about 30 mins with $30. The links to buy the parts and kit where great as well, cheap and super fast shipping (got it in 2 days). Overall very very satisfied with this video!! Thank you so much JerryRigEverything!!
bought the screen and followed your video. it's official now I saved over $100 by doing it myself. your video gave me the confidence to do it. it was accurate step by step. thanks a lot for this awesome video.
Your video is awesome and you could be a professional teacher. it all came out fine and we have a new screen! Your videos are an inspiration for millions - thank you.
Incredibly helpful and detailed instructions lead to flawless execution. Thank you so much! Like some others, I also had an issue with the suction cup. A sharp razor blade was the solution, and I was able to avoid damaging the frame.
Oh, finalmente uno capace di montare un video tecnico in maniera essenziale, diretta e parlando di precauzioni per non sputtanare il telefono (tipo togliere tensione dalla batteria)!
The video is useful BUT... We followed your video but when tested the screen out to see if it works the screen did not turn on can you please tell us what we are missing here?
Thank you for making me a fixer of technology for the first time in my life. Huge. I love the iPhone 5/SE form factor very much, and I've boldly carried my SE without a case (as Lord Jobs intended) and with screen fully intact and free of defect until a rash decision to climb a fire escape in pajama pants a few days ago. Completely shattered the screen after a fall of at least six feet on onto pavement. (The phone, not me...thankfully). I had a water-damaged (I think) SE at home, and your video gave me the confidence to attempt a screen assembly swap, and you saved me at least $80. One note; if you don't replace the home button in such a swap, the iPhone says "Unable to activate Touch ID on this iPhone". I don't care. I have a clean screen. BIG THANKS, JRE. Great production values, great instructions, nutritionally dense repair video!
With your help, I was able to fix my phone without any issues! The screen (glass+LCD) and cheap tool kit with shipping cost me $36, and the repair took me about an hour (of rewinding and pausing the video). I had replaced the screen on my 3gs a long time ago, and this repair was comparable in difficulty (maybe a little easier, since this time I didn't have to worry about taking the glass apart from the LCD). Thank you very much for this tutorial!
Hey! muchas gracias por tu video, nos ayudo bastante, gracias a ti pudimos arreglar la pantalla del IPhone de mi novia, es fácil, se entiendo todo y es metódico, agradecidos saludos desde Temuco, Chile
WOW this was a quick yet informative video. I work in IT yet haven't needed to replace a screen until now. Literally stumbled on your video and got my screen replaced in about 10 minutes. Everything works exactly how you've shown in the video. Great job I will be subscribing to your page.
You rock JerryRig! I watch your videos for all my replacement needs and have helped many of my friends in bad screen situations thanks to your advice and tutorials!
My cousin jist gave me an iphone i think SE and he gave it to me for free I might just try to pay to get it repaired because it's my first iphone sadly lol
That was such an amazingly clear and well filmed video that enabled me to do the repair first time inside an iPhone! Many thanks. And by the way, the "Silly little ribbon cable" and bracket ..... Yep I hated it!
believe it or not, i found my old iphone se in the drawer and just now replaced battery and screen thanks to this video :) thanks Zack! finish the damn bunker already, i'm dying to watch it :D
Wow thank you! It took me 2 hours but it works and saved me a ton of money. If you do not have patience for all the itty bitty pieces do not attempt. This definitely takes major patience. Thanks again! :)
Just fixed the screen of a neighborhood boy. Never did this before but I'm handy and work on cars. First time I haven't ever lost a screw and I had trouble with the home button not wanting to come off BUT i broke off the old screen and used the plastic to unscrew them backwards. Worked well and this video was SUPER helpful. saved a lot and making a good kid happy!!!
Excellent tutorial! Showed every step. I'd suggest telling people to have a small electronics screwdriver kit. My replacement screen came with small tools but my kit has magnetic screwdriver which helps a ton as you set those tiny screws in place. Also, I have "mag-light" on my phone (magnifier with light) which helped a lot when fixing my son's phone.
Wish mine had taken 4 minutes! 2.5 hours more like. Thanks for the info and clear instructions. The front camera opaque holder was missed out, as was the rear camera rubber spacer. Saved me a ton of cash though... £9 replacement works perfectly. Thanks again. :)
properly addicted to your videos. something really satisfying about the bend tests. definitely taking a lot better care of my Nexus 6p after your vid! top man
Your videos are the best of the best. The est videos I have ever seen. I like them a lot. And i never miss them. Your videos are fun to watch as they are unique. Keep up the work!👌
Thank you 👍🏼....Having now completed the screen change, and the battery ( courtesy of your ‘other’ video) with no errors, I have to say you made it look too easy. Certainly not easy for the visually challenged and some aspects it felt like it was a race to get to the end. The screen suction cup was pretty useless, not helped a lot, by my screen looking like ‘crazy paving’. Refitting the camera probably took me the longest, very very fiddly, and needed slight adjust to make sure the camera lens was centralised in the front plate hole. We got there in the end though without any adjustments, which was a relief after nearly 3 hours..😂.
Thank u so much, I was able to change the screen on my iPhone SE and recover my old photos, now I have an aesthetic cell phone 💖 Your video helped me a loooot
how many old photos did you have leftover and had to recover? unfortunately mine got stolen, sadly I also never had them backed up to cloud for a year and lost all my photos from 2016-2017 !
Held my breath on every procedure. Took about 1 hour. Really need a size 000 flat head to pry and small needle nose like those show. Worked perfectly. My son is extremely happy with his fixed phone.
Absolutely amazing guidance! Maybe 1st timer’s luck - my little metal doo-hikey behind the home button went straight in! Much smug. Honestly though, this has got to be one of the best ‘how to’s I have come across in a long time. Many thanks.
Thanks a million. Took more than 4 minutes to be truthful. Use lots of light Just used a $17 OEM screen/Home button from Ebay, a 1.2 x 30mm crosspoint screwdriver, and various plastic pry/push tools. Plus a nifty set of tweezers like yours. Put screws and tabs in small bathroom rinse cup for each step and nested them in order..
Great video with good steps & tips. My only warning to everybody is that, at least on your first attempt, you might want to make sure to have a couple hours of time. otherwise, instructions are spot on.
Thanks Jerry! I just did this! took me all day but the video really helped. What I would say to others is you need a good Torx screwdriver kit - my main issue was getting the metal panel off the old screen with terrible screwdrivers. I had to go into a shop and ask someone to get the final screw out!
Thank u for helping me with this repair. Super clear instructions. I purchased from Your recommendations in description list. However, mine did not turn out perfect, oddly my touch screen is overly or not at all sensitive. Literally having hard time typing
Love your video, tired of practically every instructional vid that is 3x too long because they talk too damn much, or show every turn of the screwdriver. This was PERFECT. Wish they were all like this.
Thanx Jerry for good focus and excellent guide. You saved me from buying a new phone and extra plus because i don t want anything bigger than my Iphone5SE.
Appreciate for the video. It helped me so much to fix the issue on the screen ( horizontally stripes + touch screen problem ! I removed these flex cables and brushed there gently and put them back again and it worked perfectly ) i believe I cudn’t succeed if you did not shared this detailed video . 100 % great video , shows all we need to know. Thank you so much.
I just finished replacing my iPhone se screen using your video. I think some important connection was shown to quick...but at the end, i made it through. Thnx!
Great step by step video. Just finished my first screen replacement. Only issue I had was touch id didn't start working again until I rebooted the phone.
I just replaced my screen. Everything went well until right at the end. The screen was basically not fitting back into the frame. I had read some comments of people breaking the screen in this last step. Thank goodness I came across @Kodi Thorn's suggestion to press one side at a time. I worked the screen in from top to bottom by pressing only on the left, then only on the right hand side. I was still very careful with this step, but everything went well. Happy Days! Thanks @JerryRigEverything!
Thank you!

I love when my Repairman refers to an intricate piece of technology as "Metal Doohickey"

Hold the cable in place and protects the connecter. Not reallly a "Intricate piece of technology", but hey it works.

A few specific suggestions after completing the replacement:
1) A single-edge razor blade is a good pry bar, as long as you are careful. The plastic pick in the replacement kit ('Weelpower') was great to open cables, but not to lift the screen
2) A sheet 8x11/A4 with double-sided Scotch tape helps organize your materials, and lets you add notes
3) Buy a good toolkit with tweezers, similar to the pair used in the video
4) Be patient when you put the front camera as sensors in - they are a pain in a** to line up right, and it is very easy to crack a new screen
5) For some of the small cable couplings, wetting the end of my fingertip (sticks to the plastic) made it easier to click in. This is gave more precise feedback for me, but YMMV
6) Work over a paper towel or white cloth - this screws wont bounce away if they fall off, and will be easier to see
In general, get an inexpensive pair of magnifying glasses and have a good light source overhead.
Really detailed instructions and excellent video production. Fixed my kid’s SE inside of about 2hrs. The tools that came with my replacement screen kit were lousy. Damn, this makes me feel better about replacing my own screen instead of paying $60 to get my phone fixed at some random verizon in my town.
My cousin jist gave me an iphone i think SE and he gave it to me for free I might just try to pay to get it repaired because it's my first iphone sadly lol
Darion Plays Replacing the screen is very easy if you have an IQ over 10 and have steady hands.
@@JamesTube My hands aren't steady and I've never tried it before lol
Very helpful walk-through! Thank you for posting this, Jerry. You saved me hundreds of dollars!

That was such an amazingly clear and well filmed video that enabled me to do the repair first time inside an iPhone! Many thanks. And by the way, the "Silly little ribbon cable" and bracket ..... Yep I hated it!
does touch id work after this?
Yes it should.
When I turned mine on after the repair the screen said "touch ID would not work". But I don't use touch ID so no big deal here.
believe it or not, i found my old iphone se in the drawer and just now replaced battery and screen thanks to this video :) thanks Zack! finish the damn bunker already, i'm dying to watch it :D
Yikes. I think I'll just get someone else to fix my screen...
Lol I'm to lazy for that shit
This is a very easy screen replacement, the iPhone 6 has the easiest screen replacement tho
i used to replace ipod touch screens. this SE is much more complicated!
Wow thank you! It took me 2 hours but it works and saved me a ton of money. If you do not have patience for all the itty bitty pieces do not attempt. This definitely takes major patience. Thanks again! :)
Your explanations are second to none. Great speaking voice.
I just replaced the screen of this phone, and your video along with iFixit one (which is missing the earpiece part) helped me
Appreciate your work
Short videos probably get more hits but I had to pause and rewind this video a lot. Very good instructions. Thanks for the help.
I managed to replace my screen myself and I've never taken apart any electronic thing before! I feel so accomplished. :')
Thanks Jerry!
Your tutorials are great, with no experience I’ve fixed the screen on an iphone 6Plus, iphone SE, iphone 5 and a pixel 2. Thanks.
Thanks Zack, helped me out a lot to fix my old long time ago used SE. Great educational videos, now I can change these screens w/o hesitation :D
properly addicted to your videos. something really satisfying about the bend tests. definitely taking a lot better care of my Nexus 6p after your vid! top man
Your videos are the best of the best. The est videos I have ever seen. I like them a lot. And i never miss them. Your videos are fun to watch as they are unique. Keep up the work!👌
Great communicator, videography, and links. Very impressed!
Thank u so much, I was able to change the screen on my iPhone SE and recover my old photos, now I have an aesthetic cell phone 💖
Your video helped me a loooot
how many old photos did you have leftover and had to recover? unfortunately mine got stolen, sadly I also never had them backed up to cloud for a year and lost all my photos from 2016-2017 !
Thank you so much, I fixed my moms phone in 15 minutes, she is so proud!
I've done this before so very familiar with the process, but this video is succinct and to the point! Great work
Your video made replacing my cracked screen easy. Nice clear, step by step instructions. Thanks for posting!!
Super helpful: just finished replacement, flawlessly!!! Without your precise instructions, I'm likely lost! :-)
Thank u for helping me with this repair. Super clear instructions. I purchased from
Your recommendations in description list. However, mine did not turn out perfect, oddly my touch screen is overly or not at all sensitive. Literally having hard time typing
Thanks mate. Saved me loads of money.
Very detailed instructions.
Thnx!
you are the best, watching here from holland greetings and keep up the good work :)
Great step by step video. Just finished my first screen replacement. Only issue I had was touch id didn't start working again until I rebooted the phone.
Just used this tutorial to put a 5s screen on the SE. Seems to work perfectly so far. :) Thanks.
I had this issue, but fortunately mine only encountered a small crack. Wish I would have read your comment first!
This guy is awesome. Enjoy watching your informative video. Nice voice.
