You have produced a unique style on RUclips David with your blend of delving into the past and creating sample libraries for use in the future. So entertaining and generous.
This channel is always therapy for me every time I see you working on a new project with so much passion, respect, and love. You're inspiring for a lot of us David, never quit please
Brilliant, as always… “this is the future of Lo-Fi… if you thought old cassette tape sounded too good it's time to embrace the magic of AM radio” Love it!! Thanks!!
This type of video is truly my comfort food. I'm loving the sound of this device and was actually quite charmed by the detuned combination with its little cousin. Thanks for your efforts 🙏🏻
After having taken singing lessons for 1 1/2 yrs, I finally got myself a lil' midi controller to make practicing a bit easier. Seeing these videos really makes me want to learn how to play a bit better so that I can fiddle around with all of these amazing libraries~ Great stuff.
amazing :D the 'pretty harsh sounding' bit with the AM transmitter sounded pretty much like every intro to an Angels and Airwaves track :) And I mean that in a great way :)
On the topic of Panasonic... I've worked in broadcast TV production for years. I've worked for Sony houses and Panasonic houses. I have always preferred Panasonic Broadcast Equipment to their competitors and that filters down to consumer items too.
@scillyautomatic I used to live a couple of miles from the Texas Instruments facility in the early 70s. You couldn't go to a garage sale for decades without finding a Speak and Spell (until the great circuit bending crisis occurred. I'm guilty as charged) or calculators. I've learned that if I get on Ebay within the first 20 minutes of one of David's video releases I can often score whatever wonderful device he's recapped at a reasonable price. I'll go back an hour or so later and see what I call the "Hillowitz Bump Effect" price increase:) This guy saved my life during covid because I'd buy whatever device he had resurrected and then spend hours resurrecting one I had deliberately chosen in worse condition to kill more time. My soldering and woodworking skills massively increased with the practice LOL! Thanks, David:)
"Embrace the magic of AM radio" Way ahead of you. I built a crystal radio receiver a while back and am currently using a low power transmitter to send signals to it. Work in progress for some months now.
I’m a youth of the 80s, wondering if you know Trio? Not sure it’s the same Casio but it was made pretty iconic in Europe by this tune. ruclips.net/video/xqTBlft8gQA/видео.htmlsi=lV5WFdPID579k-li Also, maybe check out the Stylaphone. Bowie actually used one in Space Oddity. Great vid as always. 👍❤️😎
My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

@@afimtastic I love how the roadblocks become an opportunity to explore. So inspiring!
Seeing you open that thing up and fix it was very satisfying. In an age where we can barely fix our devices for ourselves it was refreshing to see.
What a great tone this thing has!
Brilliant, as always…

I always keep an eye on your uploads because I find them really exciting, and I don't think I see anyone else doing things in the style that you do

Yeah, I've always had a brand loyalty towards them, but I've never been certain why :)

Oh my god these are GORGEOUS
Always love your vids vibe
Also the way you dig into stuff OvO
Great video as always. Thanks, David!

That's really cool!
@@DavidHilowitzMusic Well, that remains to be seen but thanks for the encouragement lol.
david you uploaded right as i was gojna have breakfast. thank you for this, music man.
This has been really interesting, love your video bro!
thanks!
The radio experiments are awesome, super nice idea!!!
Another great video! Keep them coming!
Panasonic used to have a brand called Technics, under which digital pianos were made. Apparently they made the first digital piano with wooden keys.
It's an itty bitty turn-table!! I find these types of keyboards so interesting.. Love it!
You ask me where hell is
Hell is in "Hello"
Heaven is in "Goodbye forever, I really gotta go."
I was born
Under a wandering star
Thank you David
Honey, get the kids. Another David Hilowitz video!
9:45 Whoa. Wait. I want to hear more about the AM transmitter.
Please NEVER stop making videos :)
I’m always waiting for the “let’s open this thing up” moment 😬
That looks so cool.
Love your content Dave. Will you be making more Decent Sampler tutorials? Would love to see more in depth videos about the dev stuff.
these videos soothe my severe depression
You should try sampling wine glasses, I bet that would sound really cool with a bunch of effects
I can totally see the lo-fi scene using small short-range AM radio transmissions of their instruments to add more zhuzh, lol.
I had the little Panasonic AM Radio and organ. Not, sure where it went?
Hey David, One Synth I Think You Should Check Is The Casio Sa-2. It Has Tons Of Awesome Tones On It!
awesome!
If that thing could sample the record player to a tape loop it would be amazing.
Alot of fun!❤❤❤❤
Once you change the belt and lubricate whatever else seems gummed up, I’m sure the speed would be more consistent.
At some point you should make a video about the Faemi synth
I need one for my baby ❤
Lovely tones, btw is that George Wendt in the Panasonic Radio Ad? 😀
Whats that soundtrack in the back 3:25 ?
i almost wouldn’t doubt if Boards of Canada had one of these in their studios at one point
Only if it was ORANGE ;-)
David has the right to LOFI ;-)
now i want one but i do not want to do any solder work.I would make a real mess.
There's some literary definition for what you did in the phrase "the future of lo-fi," but I don't know what it is.
that is dope:D
Teenage Engineering make lifestyle synths. Exactly.
I would guess that record player is having drive belt slip. Earlier in the record, the stylus is putting more torque on the drive.
It's a Radiohead National Anthem DIY kit.
But how many kids with a record player built in are there? It seems like that market would be rather limited.
Teenage Engineering could sell this for $2500…
Lol. Of course you got there.
Do C418 used this??
because it sounds like Cat - Minecraft Music Disc - C418

Great vid as always. 👍❤️😎
Like deployed 👍
26Th!
Japan 100 Volt A/C power
This is just a electric organ, not a synthesizer.

Huh!
You sound lonely. Someone came up with 'the heirarchy of needs' for humans and it isn't just physical stuff.
