  • We're looking back at all the prediction and speculation type videos that I made leading up to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. There's some stuff I got pretty spot on, but OH BOY was I wrong about some major parts of the game's story.
    Thanks for watching!

It's so nice to see, which theories and predictions came out to be correct or incorrect. I wish, other ZeldaTubers would do similar vids with their own predictions.

for the master sword infinite durability, it partially was correct, as the Master Sword we have at the start in the Forgotten Foundation has infinite durability, and can be obtained through glitches

I feel this! Every creator does, I think, haha! So many ideas, thoughts, and speculations I had where I played the game and was like "nope." It feels good to get some correct though! Great video(s) :D

You should be proud of all your videos! I think you were careful not to speculate too much. And I love that they included story elements that no one could have guessed! Now I just can’t wait to see what dlc will bring to the story.

Great job as always, one of the biggest predictions I had was that the steward constructs were going to be friendly, I never saw them as a threat! And it tuned out to be true! I was so happy! 😊

Love this! It’s totally cool to be wrong about stuff we don’t know about ☺️ speculation is one of the most fun parts of Zelda game anticipation!
One of the things I got right was that we would start the game under Hyrule Castle, though I think a lot of people speculated that, so I’m not even sure if it counts! 🤣 So many things surprised me in this game though, namely the existence of caves! In addition to the depths! It was so cool to discover all of it and explore 😊

I was kinda wrong in my expectation of the design of the dungeons. I was expecting 100% traditional dungeons, you know going from room to room in an intended order, maybe getting a key from another part of the dungeon to progress through. I was also expecting region specific enemies to appear in each dungeon as was in the older games (which we do get with the Lighting Temple) and maybe even being able to fight a mini boss. The dungeons kind of ended up being a hybrid of traditional dungeons and Breath of the Wild's terminal based dungeon design, one that can be completed in any order. Don't get me wrong the dungeons are fun and all (except the Water Temple), but I still feel like they can be really short if you know what you're doing and I overall still prefer the old dungeon design formula. The Sages acting as dungeon items however is something I liked as I wasn't expecting dungeons items at all and they serve as an excellent substitution that still fit with the gameplay.

The speculations and discussions pre-release of TotK feel like they are part of a different life already. As if this game has been out for years.
Probably spent too much time on it, haha ^^ Soon I will have done and see enough to put this game aside for some time, and I might be able to take a bite into the side content of XC3, which I still haven't had the time to finish.... who am I kidding... Baten Kaitos comes out next week XD

The only major prediction or hope I had revolved around the dungeon design. Nintendo came out and said the dungeons would be themed based on the region that they were in, and yeah they were right about that, especially with the Lighting Temple (though i personally think the Water Temple failed in that regard, felt more like an island). However design wise I was expecting the traditional design of dungeons, going from room to room and maybe needing a key or solving puzzles in way that helps you access other parts of the dungeon (I guess similar to shrine puzzles) and throwing in a mini boss as well. While the sages did act as excellent substitutions for dungeon items, it still kept the terminal based design of Breath of the Wild. Now the terminal based dungeons I still enjoyed (except for, once again the Water Temple) but they can go by pretty quickly if you know what you're doing. As your dungeon design videos have shown, some of the best dungeons are very complex and planned out, which is what made them so memorable for me.

I thought that it was going to happen, like, right after the previous game. I also thought it would pick up right where the other one left off. Although I only ever watched the first trailer, and I didn’t spend a lot of time coming up with my own theories. I mostly just watched other people’s videos on it

In Chinese history, a Buddhist sect known as the "White Lotus" was contesting who had the right to rule China. They believed that their candidate was the leader chosen by an upcoming savior of Buddhism, Maitreya Buddha. This Buddha, like all others, would be responsible for bringing the teachings of peace and Buddhism back to a world where all the teachings of such had been lost. The Divinity of the Buddhas was brought into question in this era, just like the Divinity of the Zonai was questioned by Ganondorf. King Rauru, by combining the tribes, would rebirth the Kingdom of Hyrule and peace. The White Lotus was their symbol for Maitreya, and what do we see depicted above the thrones in Hyrule Castle? A blossoming White Lotus. How on the nose is it that the sages refer to Rauru by the same title as Maitreya: "The King of Light?"
The kingdom of Hyrule, having returned after all knowledge of it had been destroyed, gives credence to the idea that Rauru and Sonia actually believe that they are its founders. History not being lost but "destroyed," brings to mind that the timelines converging wasn't a mishap but instead a willed or destined event. A 'Dragonbreak" having occurred would certainly set back civilization. It would also explain why so many Poes reside in the Depths; they're the souls of those who couldn't persist during the transition to a converged timeline. This would also explain why we've never seen the Kami statues before; they were created to help these lost souls pass on. "Good and evil being the shallow perspective of the living," makes sense when you consider that these incompatible souls would have come from all walks of life. This is by far the darkest aspect we've ever seen in a Zelda game, and it would explain why gems like Zonaite and Luminous Stones exist.
If history was destroyed, then how do parts of it get mentioned as "fairy tales" in the current era? That's because Sonia's bloodline can look at the "memories" of objects and coax them out. While they wouldn't have had the full picture, they would at least have been able to reference several events that had occurred in the previous age. When these visions occurred is unknown, but it seems most plausible that they happened after Rauru and Sonia's passing.

One prediction I am very proud of is the Underground World, which of course, we got with The Depths. It is such a perfect way to make the game more explorable and terrifying woth the lack of light and gloom.

Whats crazy? I think these wild speculations are why many Zelda lore RUclipsrs got frustrated with TotK. I heard so many say there were gonna be like 10 plus dungeons, all of them taking like 2 plus hours, etc. And even back then i was like, "theyre gonna be better Divine Beasts and there will be 4 to 5 of them" and i was correct.
I really feel in a year or two, the Zelda cycle will die down and people will grow fond of TotK (im already starting to see it and this is the shortest the Zelda cycle has been for a game in the series)

I like to think I was able to speculate in a healthy way, and perhaps that contributed to why I never felt disappointment with totk

    • @chooongusbug724
      @chooongusbug724 9 месяцев назад

@@CaptBurgerson perhaps, I was just speaking in general, not specifically about you. I've thought about that a lot (as far as what overhyping and over speculating does).
Personally? I avoided speculating about TotK and just wanted to see what it is. I think me keeping things realistic (like the dungeons being better Divine Beasts) is why I absolutely adored Tears of the Kingdom. I have very little issues with it outside of the copy and pasted stuff (which is a thing in all 3d Zeldas so it didn't bother me too much) and the menus being cumbersome.
This was a cool video, I enjoyed watching it. You definitely got a sub from me
