As a Dortmund fan, I like that stadium 😊⚫🟡 .. I was there 26 years ago, wonderful memories! 🏆 I really miss these old-fashioned stadiums..the modern ones all ressemble each other..
One of the most iconic and best stadiums in the world. Went there in 2000 to watch Manchester United in the CL. Still my fave stadium and I have been to a lot of stadiums.
If you come to Portugal, I would like to leave a recommendation to visit two stadiums, that are not very far away from each other. One is in Leiria (140 km north of Lisbon) where União de Leiria plays, which is in the second division, in addition to being a beautiful stadium, it has an incredible view of the city's castle. Another stadium is in Caldas Rainha (90 km north of Lisbon) and is not designated as a stadium but as Campo da Mata (Field of Woods), usually designated as Mini Jamor (national stadium), but it is not exactly the stands that stand out , but were is located in a forest, it is interesting go up the trails that connect the city to the stadium. Just a suggestion!! Keep the videos, it's great to have the opportunity to see these sites and history.
I only watched 20 seconds of that video and my german heart is already broken as you have thrown the red bull can in to the bin. In germany you don't throw cans (and bottles) away. When you buy drinks in supermarkets you pay an extra amount of 25 cents (in germany, we call that "Pfand"), and you can get that money back by returning the cans and bottles to any store. This system helps to reduce rubbish and to recucle the cans and bottkes. So please, use it while in Germany.
this was so clear when I saw that. Germans adore recycling and seperating their garbage (up to 7 categories in some cities) and there is not a German alive rich enough to throw away a "pfandflasche"
Been here a few times. Definitely a summer stadium. Can be very exposed in the winter. Remember seeing 1860 v Dortmund in a snowstorm. Andreas Müller did not want to know and stayed out isolated on the wing all match. Sechzig won 2-0.
True story - I from Glasgow participated in the Scout Olympics there in 1982, opening ceremony was a parade round the running track of main stadium. I won silver in discus and 4th place in shot put.
@@Micfri300 Yes, for watching football you are right. But this was an Olympic stadium designed primarily for athletics, and as such, aesthetically, it has still to be surpassed IMHO

Aberdeen's famous era with Sir Alex in charge...I've just been born and bred at that time, so unfortunately, I could not witness it. I wish there were more competitive Scottish sides in European football again than just Rangers and Celtic. Best regards from Germany
Been there with my best mate who's a Forest fan in 2010. Ahead of it's time according to my Dad when it was used in WC74. I had a Gerrard England shirt on when I visited as he scored in that famous game in 2001! Great football city ⚽👍
Funny how the English always ignore that Germany still reached the World Cup final in 2002 despite that 1-5 loss in Munich while England was already back home.
Like how they had the VIP seats the same as the rest of the stadium. Brighton did similar with the Amex but had the seats for the rest of the stadium the same was the VIP seats (minus the arm rests). Surprised you've never been down to the south coast to do the old Goldstone area, Withdean and the Amex.
Thank you for doing the tour in this stadium. I've only been twice here for the concerts up to now (Bon Jovi and Ed Sheeran). Amazing atmosphere! :) Also I like your "stadium tour guide" as well. :)
Bit harsh. It's a stadium i absolutely loved when growing up and have only ever been to for a concert. Going there again for two concerts next May. Its a fantastic stadium and so much better hetter than the Allianz which is soulless, in the middle of nowhere with unwelcome staff. I also like Ernst Happel Stadion which also feels very 80s ish.
They are just outside the Olympic Park. Probably less than 800m (1/2 mile) away. The metro station is right by them. I came here for the 2002 European Athletics Champs and found my first view of the apartment block rather haunting as it was hard not to look at the balconies without thinking of hooded armed figures standing on them.
You need to check out Hohe Warte Stadium Home of First Vienna FC (Austrian second division). It is a natural bowl and once held 85,000. It's now limited to just 5,500. It's a cool place.

Hi Sam, did you pay to get into the stadium. I went a few years ago and just walked through the service gate. Also Bayern Munich played Raith Rovers at the Olympic Stadium and famously went 1-0 up!
At 0:20, you've just thrown 25 cents of deposit money into the trash bin, Sam... ;) In Germany, it's a nice gesture to place your empty can or bottle next to it instead of throwing it inside in order to make it easier for poor people who are eager to collect these empty cans and bottles to turn them into some money. So these people can pick them up more easily instead of having to scrabble inside the trash bins if you don't care about the deposit money yourself. I admit this deposit system for cans and bottles has to be very unusual to people from other countries, it's a quite peculiar German thing. Just to give you a small hint for your next time in Germany :)
West Germany lost 1-0 to East Germany in the 74 world cup....it suited West Germany not to win as they avoided the Netherlands in the next group stage when the 2 group winners went through to the final......
