- BY VERY POPULAR DEMAND! - THE EMPEROR OF MAN [1] The Rise of Humanity | WARHAMMER 40,000 Lore / History - By Luetin09!
You guys have been requesting this one a lot ever since I started this Warhammer journey so i figure ill give the people what the want ;) jk, I have been wanting to look into it for a while, I just felt I wanted some foundation first and man did this video not disappoint!
Luetin as always nailed it, and this was more of a narrative then an information video ( IT JUST HAPPENED TO HAVE TONS OF INFORMATION!) Which i really appreciate as it makes concepts for new people like me easier to understand, and its also very engaging rather then just throwing a book at you as it were, I got 3 and a half sheets (front and back) written from this video!
Big shout out to everyone who recommended this video, I loved it! Let me know what you want me to react to next!

Lets gooo!!!
Note: This video is old and Lutins opinion of things like Big E's origins have changed. Also, recent lore answers some of the questions he asks.
Ah thank you for letting me know! Ill be sure to keep that in mind going forward!
Hope you enjoyed the video as always :)
Pause as much as you like mucca, stopping and mulling things over for a second is how we learn and form opinions.
Lutins views change just through this series, thats not a bad thing, thats growth.
Theres alot of mulling things over for a second when it comes to the 40k universe, and our own.
Darwin added a chapter to the second edition of on the origin of species expressing his hope that his theory would inspire new theories down the line.
Thank you for saying that! Some people are annoyed by frequent pausing but I just wanna express how im thinking about things in a clear way, and I also like to take guesses or assumptions on things! Im glad you guy's like hearing it! It means a lot!
Also I imagine with new content being made all the time, Opinions are constantly changing or being "Updated" should I say!
Hope you enjoy the video :)
@TheRealCenturion I'm just enjoying your journey dude, it really is a rabbit hole.
@@TheRealCenturionand to be honest, I never understood those types of people, if you want to listen to lutin, go and watch lutins video, if your watching a reaction video, then you should probably expect the odd reaction hear and there.
@@TheRealCenturion not pausing is what makes most reactions boring. If someone pauses and asks questions it shows interest. I think Lutin himself said he doesnt like reactors on his stuff that just watch and have 0 interest in the universe. So i think you are doing good
Yes the part 1 and part 2 of Emperor of Man videos got me into W40k 5 years ago. They randomly started playing in autoplay and I was too lazy to change that and behold suddenly I found myself listening 1 hour in and wanting more
Thats awesome, Luetin does a great job at keeping you engaged and I cant wait to watch more of his videos!
Hope you enjoyed the video :)
Highly recommended by me : "The Last Church".
Greetings
Just done reading that one today. Captivating short.
@stephanthomas4410 ive gotten so many recommendations for that one and im dying to check it out!
Thank you for the recommendation!
Hope you enjoy the video and greetings to you too !
couldnt agree more lol
It is covered pretty well in this series Emperor of Man - part 3 by Luetin
@35:26 knights come in a few sizes but the pictured one would come up to about hip height on a warhound titan
Good to see you're no longer a doubter :3 make yourself comfortable and explore the nooks and crannies of the galaxy you'd never want to live in :>
Greetings from Poland
Gloria Imperator!!
And your gonna love this series I recommend you got through it all because Leutin himself will correct himself on old lore tid bits and he’s option on the emperor is very thought conducive
Thats great to hear! Luetin does a great job of correcting himself and telling you if hes not sure of something, I really appreciate his videos!
Hope you enjoy the video :)
Thanks for the amazing reaction!!! Cant wait for the others :)
@Cobrazay no, thank YOU for watching ! If i didint have such a great audience i wouldnt be able to make these videos daily , and you guys motivate me so much!
I hope you enjoyed the video :)
@@TheRealCenturion hell yesh man!
The things is it was about a thousand psykers a day 10k years ago when big E was placed in the Golden Throne but because of several things. BigE slowly getting worse, constant attacks by Chaos from the Warp, and the Golden Throne slowly wearing out over 10k years. There's hints that the psykers fed to big E is growing some numbers say by quite a lot.
They have even brought in some Mechanicus and Eldari ancient tech experts to take a look at the Golden Throne to see if it could be repaired.
One story I heard was saying that the throne could fail within 100 to 1000 years
Alright! Time to talk Knights! You asked but then figured it out that knights are generally smaller than titans but there are some rare exceptions as the largest knights can be compared to warhounds and even slightly bigger but these are extremely rare.
Bricky didn’t do a great job with knights, due to unfortunate wording and the fact that Knights are, arguably, the most “OC” friendly faction. He got the basics and, again, this isn’t a negative to a bricky video. Why I like bricky as a starting point is he gets newcomers engaged and asking questions. Then it gives the fans the chance to “uhm akshually” and go into deep dives of their favorite parts of lore.
A knight world is fairly “standard” baseline. It’s medieval Europe in technology and structure. Imagine Game of Thrones or the House of the Dragon where instead of the Targaryen’s having dragons they have giant mechs. It’s quite the apt comparison because the ruling knights are rulers because no one can hope to stand against a knight when steel swords and the bow and arrow are often the next best weapons available.
This is where any type of standard knight world ends. Apart from the basic technological level, maybe there is some steampunk or clockwork machines, knight worlds can be anything that fits that basic setup. Making a home brew knight world is extremely easy and lore friendly as new worlds are rediscovered all the time in the 41st millennium. You can make it any style too, classic King Arthur, Transylvania goth with Eastern European vibes, I don’t know of any but I’m sure you could do eastern medieval style as well, like ancient china or feudal Japan. You could even stretch the technological level a bit and do a modern 21st century post apocalyptic mad max style. The main theme you need for the knight world is a type of kingdom run by a knightly house.
The other thing I don’t see many creators point out is that it is rare for there to be only one actual knight on a knight world. It’s actually very common for a noble house to have several knight chassis. Sometimes, there are several houses that have several knights, and this allows to have political intrigue and maneuvering when giant mechs are involved. I make this comparison a lot but House of the Dragon is a great example. Having these giant destructive war engines fighting each other can lead to devastating casualties and if one knight destroys another the loss of that knight is a terrible loss for, not just that house, but the world as a whole.
In addition to knights, they have their own “scout class” of walkers called armigers. These are smaller than knights and often serve the knights as vassal lords or banner men. They often work similarly to the warhounds role and fight in groups or serve to protect the knights flank. While these armiger pilots aren’t royalty, they are often just below the royal level the knight houses have.
Things get even more interesting and more “OC” friendly with the chaos knights. Sometimes a knight house or even an entire knight world will fall to chaos and their knights are given chaos makeovers. Sometimes this can be where the knight reflects the chaos god its pilot serves or sometimes the knight is possessed itself and the machine takes on a life of its own.
Then the ultimate “OC” of the knights, the free blades. These are individual knights, usually, that go out into the galaxy. They either abandon their house or are exiled and set out on an adventure or quest for their own reasons. Sometimes there is a specific quest and other times they are like mercenaries. Free blades are usually thought of as solo knights but they can have multiple knights and even armigers as their crew.
Then there are knight worlds that have been converted to the cult mechanicus. All knight worlds that are discovered by the imperium have dealings with the mechanicus, due to the mechanicus being able to repair and work on the Knights. Sometimes, the cult mechanicus is able to convert the knight house completely to the worship of the machine god. Often times turning the entire Knight World into a new forge world. These knight worlds are somewhat a point of contention between the Imperium and the Mechanicus. While, these two are on the same side, it makes it very tenuous as to if a knight will be deployed to help either side, depending on the loyalty of the knight house. It's the most obvious way the Mechanicus and Imperium can butt heads. If, for example, an Imperial Guard requests a nearby knight for support, if the Knight World is loyal to the Imperium, designated as Questor Imperialis, they will most likely come if the request is valid. If the Knight World is loyal to the Mechanicus, designated as Questor Mechanicus, they must go through the Mechanicus red tape and politics to potentially get a Knight. Also vice versa but usually if the Mechanicus needs knight support the knights will respond regardless because the Mechanicus are their Knights lifeline. Still it's another level of complexity for the Imperial Knights as a faction.
All and all, knights are extremely cool. Not just because they are giant robots, even though that would be enough on its own, but because they are so customizable and have so much potential and freedom for books, fan fiction and all of it is basically lore friendly. Remember, this is primarily a tabletop wargame and making your own custom army is a big part of that experience. Knights are that wonderful perfect storm for a lot of people. Extremely cool and simplistic on the surface but they also have that depth and creative freedom to explore and create your own story and lore. And you will rarely ever do something with an "OC" knight faction that will seem really questionable lore wise. Compared to something like tyranids or even space Marines have a pretty strict setup compared to Knights.
I love the Knights and since they are technically under the Adeptus Mechanicus, even the Questor Imperialis ones are still part of the Mechanicus, I can say they are my favorite faction. It's kind of cheating but the admech have an umbrella that spreads over both the Knights and Titans. So I can say they are part of my favorite faction lol.
@XionDarkblood13 thank you so much for explaining all that! That was really in depth! Its sounding like i too may have to follow the ad mech XD
They just have so much cool stuff involved with them and those knights seem so sick!
Also the fact that they are original guardians of those worlds in a sense i find really cool!
Hope you enjoyed the video:)
@ yes, loving your journey down the rabbit hole of 40k. The admech are a really interesting faction that a lot of people think is more complicated than it is. It boils down to tech Catholics. You have the trinity, the machine god, omnissiah and the motive force. You have the devil, the void dragon shard of mars. You have demons, kind of, with abominable/artificial intelligence. Ritualism and tradition taken to 40k extremes. You have all the “fun” denominations of admech that make their religion much closer to the real world. I find it funny how people tend to dismiss them as weird technophiles. I mean, they are. But they’re much more than that. All of the things that seem stupid mostly have good reasons for it. They don’t innovate just because it’s tech heresy. It’s tech heresy because of how dangerous unbridled innovation is. It literally led to the dark age of technology and the age of strife. That is a good reason. Extremism rears its head with the ideas of mankind doesn’t need to invent because the past ways were perfect and changing them is heresy! But it’s still an extremist point of view and not everyone in the mechanicus subscribe to that. At least, in private. It’s what makes the admech so funny and interesting in how they have to do mental gymnastics and loopholes to invent and create.
It’s also criminal that GW hasn’t done, basically, anything with the dark mechanicum. They hint at it with Vashtor and they are mentioned some but I can only imagine what is going on with ~half of the Mechanicum from the Horus heresy era, deep in the warp with unbridled creative freedom to experiment and invent. Vashtor is another interesting character you should get to eventually. He’s the demon prince of the Industrial Revolution. Like, not even that far off. He seeks to become the fifth chaos god and came into being, much the same way slaneesh was. Except it was humans innovation and creative thinking that created him. Iirc, he might have potentially ascended to chaos god level if it weren’t for the fall of mankind during the age of strife. He’s a fun character. He enslaves demons by being honest. Not even joking. He will make a contract with another demon, that is straightforward with no trickery, and the demon is so paranoid it ends up doing something to ensure they never are free from the contract. Like they will demand inclusions of some kind that end up screwing them over. Vashtor is just a Chad like that. He is logical and calculating. Full stop. He occupies a weird parallel with the mechanicus of the imperium, because he is basically an arms dealer in the warp. He makes the best weapons for the other 4 chaos gods and doesn’t play favorites. The chaos gods hate him but he’s protected by the chaos gods by necessity. If any chaos god tried to screw him over, the other three will rush to help, hoping for some extra favor because his weapons and gear are that good. Also, if he tried to take a side, the other three would unite against him and the one he tried to side with. It’s a really funny hate filled balancing act. I think the idea, and why I got off on this tangent, is basically the dark mechanicum all work for him mostly.
Ik its on the longer side but The Last Church which i believe can only be found re-uploaded unfortunately is an amazing book adaptation i think youd love the dialogue is amazing and i think youd have some pretty interesting takes and take aways watching it, loving your warhammer journey tho lol
also it takes place BEFORE the horus heresy or even great crusade so its extra interesting
Im thinking that might have to be the next one i check out ! Looks awesome and ive heard nothing but great things from you guys about it !
Thank you for the recommendation!
Hope you enjoy the video :)
@@TheRealCenturion its fantastic
@@TheRealCenturion Yes the Last Church animation can be watched instead of EmperorOfMan part3. They both cover the same story, but the animation is more engaging of course even tho it’s very crude animation
@@TheRealCenturion you dont know how excited i am to hear that lol cant wait for that notification
As always link to the video in the description! Go check it out!
Let me know your recommendations and what you guys wanna see, I Appreciate you guys!
See you in the next one!
Ok, you're diving deep enough for me to give my support, so take my sub🫶🏻
@momqabt i appreciate that ! I love learning more about things that interest me and im glad to have such a great audience to watch and learn with me !
Hope you enjoy the video :)
Hell yeah! I was waiting for this reaction!
The original Shaman story did not include any premonition about the future of humanity. It was simply that the shamans were not reincarnating as often because something was eating their souls in the warp when they died. That's why they came up with the "Suicide Pact". Their souls would all be merged into a superbeing able to fend off the powers of the warp.
Today I was searching for warhammer primarch figures online and the search came back with a book about getting along with an absentee father as an adult. 😂😂😂😂
Master of mankind is a fantastic book, should absolutely give it a pick up if you can.
I know I’ve recommended trench crusade before now but I haven’t actually recommended any specific channel or videos, Scannerbarkly has some great videos going over the lore though no video that gives a general overview, he does have ‘A Brief and incomplete timeline of the trench crusade though’.
I’d also like to recommend Zaktact, not for trench crusade though, Zaktact has amazing videos about Lancer, it’s a mech setting, it’s also very cool.
Stellaris fan! Have you checked out greater terran union by the templin institute?
I have not! Ill have to check that out sometime!
Thank you for the recommendation!
Hope you enjoyed the video!
25:14 if you ever play the mass effect trilogy again you’ll see the huge warhammer inspiration. Spectres are inquisitors, (space detectives w unlimited power) the Rachni are the Tyranids, (hive mind galaxy ending bugs) the Reapers are robo-Chaos, (live in an unreachable part of space, all powerful, corrupts the mind) and a lot of other stuff it’s pretty cool!
On the matter of physics: with relativistic physics, no, you can't "go back" in time. This is a GIGA topic, and I don't want to go into it in text (for obvious reasons kek), but if you want, we can schedule a (live) talk about the topic.
Oh it is, way to much to say in a short blip there!
Maybe might have to do some podcasting sometime! That could be fun!
Hope you enjoyed the video! :)
so it begins
If you want to get into the Horus Heresy I would recommend the video Horus Heresy - Full Introduction by the channel Janovich.
Thank you for the recommendation! Ill add that to the list!
Hope you enjoyed the video :)
The funny thing is: if humanity let the emperor die, he will reincarnate with full force since he is inmortal. So the humanity in his ignorance is the only one worsening all the situation keeping the emperor in that state.
The problem with that is there is a literal large warp tear on Earth in the Throne room where the Emperors Webway project was and he is keeping it closed with his psychic powers constantly. If he dies that thing is splitting open and hundreds of Thousands of Demons are waiting on the other side to pour through. For example when his light went out when Cadia fell the planet was invaded all over by Khorne Daemons. I think like 8 Bloodthirsters manifested which are an enormous problem. The leader of the Custodes deployed with 4,000 custodians supported by Grey knights and Sisters of Silenece but still more than half of them all died over this like 7-10 day period. The battle is called “The Battle of Lion’s Gate”. If Guilliman didn’t show up there is a very real chance the Imperial Palace would have fallen.
As for recommendations, i know this will probably rub some of your other viewers up the wrong way, but i like majorkill.
lutin and sandman of terra for some good, long form lectures but majorkill for a quick ten minute bit of fun, to the point lore.
Folks think hes a bit crass and crossed a few lines with his humour, but FUCK timmy!!
And hes a dark angel like myself and the sandman.
Brother you have the right to like any of the emperor servants. While we don't agree in our choices you still serve the emperor.
Cheers!
@warangelthelight2077 cheers brother!
Thank you for those recommendations! Ill have to add them to the list! Maybe if their shorter i could do a few in one video like I did with Warrior Tier!
Hope you enjoyed the video as always :)
My headcanon about the Emperor is that He has always existed. In the warp time isn't linear and a daemon can exist before it's actually "born" usually thanks to some horrifying event. For Gods or Ascended beings this process could be similar. The warp is a thing of will, intent, need and symbolic meaning. Humans started worshipping the Emperor as a true deity during the Horus Heresy. This new faith changed everything. Humans created the God Emperor in the future but He was born - perhaps literally and naturally - in the past. He was needed by humanity therefore He exists. He is an Ascended being, an Avatar of all humanity. His virtues are our virtues and His failings are our failings. This is also why He vehemently denied His divinity. And everyone sees and hears Him differently, like a different persona or Aspect. We created a God, the Emperor protects!
The first theory is for me because I prefer the Emperor not being a creation of an old one, he could have met an old one on mloek
Check out the leagues of votan stuff out i recently became obsessed with them 😂
Ill add those to the list! thank you for that recommendation!
Hope you enjoyed the video :)
A reaction channel who dislikes the "shaman" back story! Well done lol what a terrible theory. On a base lv the shaman story immediately takes me straight out of the 40k bubble, theres nothing scifi about it, stone age village elders commiting suicide.. becomes emperor/imperium lol what rubbish!
I agree option 3 just fits better, suits its surroundings, sounds more plausible!
It's 30.000 years. I personally think that he either wasn't that powerful or wasn't born that powerful, or wasn't alive for that many years... Maybe he died some times, and since he is a perpetual, he was reborn.
One time somewhere from our year 0 to our modern age, maybe because of religion. And another time on the beginning of the Golden Age of Technology, maybe because of experimenting with psykers. And another time in the beginning of the Age of Strife, maybe because of the Men of Iron War.
Those deaths give some reason of why he only choose to became the emperor only around 30.000. Because he was "mostly dead" and when he was alive, humanity was technically having progress, but now fell greatly, because of some errors like religion (first time), psykers (second time) and AI (third time).
Look at the miniatures online, gaze in amazement at the prices lol
But seriously youll learn things!
How big is a knight vs warhound.. at least google image it, theres comparisons available
No one actually knows emperors plans. May be malcdor knew the plan or valdor may be knows. His closest friends in a way. May be he scattered the primarchs to pre chosen planets to make them grow up and master their chosen genetic traits by the emperor ( primarchs curze and lion talk about this in one of the books) Heresy may be the part of his grand plan and result of the deal he made with warp for primarch tech. Also ensuring the survival of humanity through stagnation as he is on the come back now and will be born again. No knows actually knows emperors plan. Emperor is the most powerful god in the warp n reality as 4 chaos gods put together through horus couldn't kill him and that just shows his power. Thats what makes emperor so intersting and wh40k deep with lore and discussion in my opinion.
Btw... this is the most human "kind" picture of the emperors Throne you stopped the video at the start... there are far more terryfying
@muratferguson4534 oh i can imagine! I guess no one can really know what state hes in now besides the custodies and even then.
Is there anyone in lore that actually has direct contact with him?
Hope you enjoy the video :)
@@TheRealCenturion he is sometimes described in his throne by the people who saw him as a carcass that shines so bright that it can turn a man blind and burn everyone close enough to it. He's basically a psychic nuclear reactor, lol.
@@TheRealCenturion Titus, The emperors champions of the black templar chapters and the saints.... and of course Gulliman. But not as you think of course^^

not sure what to recommend from luetin since i kinda want you to watch all of his videos, in terms of other creators i would recommend PancreasNoWork he does faction/character reviews from both 40k and fantasy and other fun stuff, and since you are into gaming i would also recommend mandaloregaming if you dont already know about him, he does reviews of mostly old games, sometimes cursed sometimes iconic
