I've never seen the fist, I always saw people hold up the 10 fingers. I knew all the little signs for 6-9 (1-5 were only fingers), but never the fist for 10.
huh I was taught that ten was like the ASL letter R.
Nah we all know she put it down to hold up 10 fingers. Anybody who watched the vid and understands basic social interactions could infer it
@@raymondqiu8202 I was referring to the sound effect they use plus the way they point out that she puts her cup down. It's the same way they do it to draw attention to people's surprise. And a lot of people who understand basic social interactions wouldn't know the Chinese hand sign for 10........unless their basic social interactions are with Chinese people
@@kev7161 The chinese way is much better than ours, they can do 1-10 all on one hand. 8 is my favourite cos it's the finger gun :D

“No ingles”
Lmao
Hilarious.
Love the part when the vendor says “what is he saying” and looks to Xoom for help
You can tell that people really appreciate him learning their language. It’s fun to watch him interact. He seems like a really nice guy as well, very genuine.
The bouncy sound effect when they hear you speaking Chinese gets me every time. So funny.
The difference it makes to be able to speak to people in their own language ! The barriers drop almost immediately . You can hear the respect people have when they hear somebody speaking their language . Amazing talent and respect you two guys have for other cultures. Extremely impressive!
I love this dude, learning at a barbershop, just being in the culture and with the people. this is awesome
Lmao! Dead 💀 at ‘what is he saying?’ “He wants to order” 😂
I feel the lady who sells you the duck neck was so kindhearted... just like an aunty
Isn't it wonderful to see how happy people get when they realize you can speak their native language? Learning another language and really delving into culture is one of the highest forms of respect you can give someone. Being able to fluently speak several languages like this is my life goal!
These videos warm my heart . They genuinely want to connect with people and show appreciation and respect for other cultures . Just beautiful !
mandarin, cantonese, basically any chinese language is more than just language, its tones, and LORD are their tones perfect
The love you get when you respect other people’s culture and language.
9:15 „was it Laoshu?“ man I already miss him so much fly high Moses 🙏🏼
He died?? What happened?

The comment Xiaoma made at 9:14 just reminded me of laoshu, may he rest in piece - and forever immortalised by youtube
I was shocked, I thought it was a recent video and had to check right away. May he rent in peace.
Frankie's mask did him dirty. That boy is handsome as hell. I was shooketh
I'm a hair stylist currently learning Japanese because I really want to be fluent or mostly fluent by the time I visit. And I just want to say thank you so much for providing this amazing content. It really helps give me motivation to continue learning.
Because of him I'm now studying how to speak in Chinese and how fun of learning new language it is !
I love the way you get instant respect for knowing one's language.I guess just getting a hair cut in China town for the next year is not going to get it done. I love you all for taking the time and putting in the effort to learn there language
The worst part is when they all laugh together and, despite having subtitles, you feel completely left out of the joke.
Frankie's a chill dude. Really bounce off eachother well.
I miss the white guys shock Chinese people. Now I want white and black guys shocks Chinese people. MORE PLEASE!
Us too!!!🤗😅
Search laoshu
Laoshi
I say yes
You can search for WMAF if u want more shocking content
That lady vendor was so nice when she found out the Americans spoke her language! 💕💕
You are both adorable! Love seeing the sheer joy in the vendors and others as they realize you speak perfect Chinese.
“I’ve been waitin’ heeah”
“What’s he saying?”
Awesome
Just amazing how many barriers language can break. Those chinese barbers gave em the best they could, happily!!!!
You guys inspire me to continue to learn different languages. I love watching you guys.
Man..at the barbers they mention Laoshu, hurts man.
*R.I.P* Laoshu.
:(
The woman was so kind. Everyone needs a connection to who and where they are from. She was thrilled. My poor Grandmother wouldn’t speak English and missed her home until she died.
I just laughed so hard when the bbq guy asked you what he was saying 🤣
I also live in New York City and am learning Mandarin for about one year so far. These videos are inspiring. But really interesting how as I advance in Chinese I understand more and more of the conversations and details
“So you learned by osmosis?” LMFAOAOAO
Ikr💀
Can someone tell me what that means
@@gr9569 its the movement of solvents through a (semi)permeable membrane into a more concentrated solution, this process tends to result in a state of equilibrium 🤓

Two things annoyed me in this video.
1. That red jacket guy got rude for no reason.
2. That red jacket guy got rude for no reason.
for real i’m sure he could’ve waited 3 mins while they were enjoying their conversation /: clearly it was an interesting interaction and he just ruined the vibe
He was waiting to order after them and the Chinese guy started taking orders from another people so he didn't get rude for "no reason"
He's a New Yorker..

As a black dude his cut hurt me but I’m not mad☹️

You always make me want to learn more languages. The world opens up once we can speak to each other.
9:11 that hit different now that laoshu passed away. Rest In Peace man...
It seems as though when you try with people they are very keen to get to know you. It's s very good lesson for people. All the kindness is brought to the fore. Beautiful.
Its so fascinating how your personality changes when you speak a different language.
You kinda adapt the cultural behaviour when speaking another language atleast for expressions and gestures.
Its crazy :)
I respect that Frankie went to the source to learn the language. I can’t imagine- smart man.♥️ Loved this episode, you guys have a real rapport.
I'm neither USA citizen, neither native speaker, neither anyhow related to speaking Mandarin, but it's just so freaking satisfying to listen to Xiaoma speak, that i keep coming back for those videos daily :D Good thing youtube randomly suggested this content :D
aww this chinese street market women was too kind :)
Dude's not sure about that duck neck but very respectful 🤣
@ 9:12 😂😂Of course Laoshu’s already been up in there showing off his Chinese.
does laoshu travel? cause i'm pretty sure he's from ohio

When he said it was a tall black guy I guess I wasnt the only guy thinking laoshu was here lmao
Xiaoma and Laoshu; the real cross-over that we all need.
The shocking thing is Frankie is getting a haircut just by anybody. Barbers are like doctors or dentist. You find one and you stick with them until one of you are dead.
