My grandfather fought in ww2 was a pitcher before the war. Loved the Red Sox’s lived his whole life without a Red Sox World Series win. They won in 04 and he passed a month later. Got to see them win. 👍
John Paquette my dad was a life long hardcore Red Sox fan and died a year or so before this. Didn't get to see his team do the unthinkable. Heart breaking really.
I never saw my Dad cry, not even when he was dying of cancer in 08. I never saw him cry, except when the Sox won the series just before his 50th birthday. Love you Dad.
It must've been crazy for people who had been fans for decades. I was a fan for a couple of years at that point, being in my teenage years and I already thought it was insane. But if you waited 30-40 years for this... Damn.
TheIrateFanboy It then would influence other teams too with the Red Sox dealing with the Yankees for 3 playoff series. Chicago and Vancouver 3 long playoff series against Chicago, Vancouver finally beats them. The 2008 NBA Finals currently being destroyed by the Lakers they make an improbable comeback.
As a Bravesfan, this was my second favorite series of all time. Even though my team lost in 1991, that was still the greatest post season series ever played. But the 2004 ALCS sure as hell comes in a very close second. This series had my entire college dorm captivated. Game 7, 8th inning, and some jackals thought it would be funny to pull the fire alarm. Bunch of us were crowded in my,dorm room watching, and not a single person moved. We all got reprimanded for that, but it was well worth it to witness one of baseball's greatest moments.
I remember this like it was yesterday. Aside from the Patriots unbelievable comeback in the super bowl this year, this was one of the best of all time. Red Sox defeated their oldest rivals and broke the curse by winning the world series in the same year. And doing it being down 3-0 to the Yankees, especially after getting their ass handed to them in game 3, 19-8! Awesome!!
Disagree. This was the biggest comeback in all of sports history. 3-0 against the 27(26 at the time) World Series Champions. They also had the core four. And they won from 1998-2000. Losing the World Series in 2001 to the Diamondbacks and in 2003 to the Marlins the year before. And the Yankees never lost 4 in a row that year. It was an impossible task
I’m glad Theo came to The Cubs. He ended the drought there too. He is the smartest man in baseball history. He ended two “curses”. The 2004 ALCS was the biggest choke/comeback in MLB history. Period.
It was indeed destiny: I had the feeling all along that if the *curse* was to be broken, it would happen in no ordinary way -- that it would happen in the most extraordinary manner possible. Some have suggested that perhaps, if Red Sox fans had only known in advance the magical and miraculous manner in which the said curse was to end, they might not have minded the long wait.
@@_Funkdoobiest_ Either that or it was a bad take lol. I was planning on coming back to this comment after tonight if it happens honestly, really wild man!

How did he doubt them? Sounds like he left it open if you ask me. He said George is a winner (which has been true in the past) and he mentioned "let's see if they can deliver." Sounds like he was neither right nor wrong, just making a statement.
I remember watching this on the edge of my seat.. even as a life long Jays fan.. it transcended team loyalty because it was something special to happen and witness as a fan of baseball.
My Dad was a die hard Red Sox fan. He was born in 1922 and died in 2002. He never saw the Red Sox win The World Series. After the Red Sox win in 2004 I went to his grave and with tears running down my cheeks, planted a 2004 World Champions flag. The greatest moment of all time!
What a storybook series. At the beginning of Game 4, it was all about one last attempt at keeping some respect and ended with the feeling of maybe... just maybe. Game 5 was an exhausting rollercoaster that cemented Ortiz’s hero status. A tremendous performance by Curt Schilling (before he became an insane off-the-deep-end embarrassment) turned game 6 into a great bloody drama. And by the start of the 5th inning of Game 7, you started to believe in destiny. Awesome video.
I'm a lifetime Dodgers fan but even watching this it still gives me chills. Some of the best baseball I have ever seen played. What a comeback. I still remember watching these on TV. Great memories I still have with this one. #respect
With this and the Patriots coming back 28-3, Boston has had a history of comebacks thought absolutely impossible. If I’m a Heat fan, I’d be pretty damn nervous right now
As the son of a lifelong Sox fan, which makes me a lifelong Sox fan as well, a few years ago I showed my cancer-stricken father this video at his bedside a couple weeks before he passed. He absolutely loved it. Thank you to Isaiah or whoever made it. And after it was over, I’ll never forget him asking me “Son, why did Schilling turn out to be such an asshole?” I couldn’t help but smile as I shook my head & told him the same answer that I suppose a lot of folks have given when, at some point over the past decade, they’ve been asked similar questions about people they felt like they once knew…. “I don’t know why, Pop,” I told him. “I just don’t know. But it’s a shame.”
I am not really a sports person but I'm a Bostonian so it kind of goes without saying in this area... Baseball is the only sport I have followed and/or watched and my man and I were just talking about this World Series. I remember game 4 of this like it was yesterday and this literally brings tears to my eyes LOL. Most amazing moment(s) in the history of MLB. The Red Sox parade for 04 season was absolutely CRAZY!
I remember the year prior when we lost in NYC. Wow the school was quiet. It was sad. Here we came the following year down 0-4 and Ortiz at the end center hit and we came back. Will never ever forget that as a Red Sox fan, truly was amazing. Only time I actually cried when we won it. It was so awesome to win it finally. Thank you
I remember this, this was my first baseball world series ever, i've never watch MLB even being from a country who plays baseball a lot (Panamá) and having a father who play the game in his earlies 30's. Precisely I started watching this series with him... I was 11 and I remember this as it was yesterday! Now I realize i beheld history.
Not a Boston fan at all but I love and respect baseball , as well as many other sports, and recognize that the last 4 games of this series might be , as a collective, the greatest moment in sports history. Of course that's open for debate and can be biased but the manner in which these games were won, winning against the greatest franchise in history that was also the beneficiary of the supposed "curse", it doesn't get any better. Maybe, maybe, Kirk Gibson smoking the walk off homer, Ali/Frazier, a handful of college football upsets, shot heard around the world, all are viable options...I'll always think the final 4 games of this series are what sports and being a fan is all about. Fucking great!
This was the turning point of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry. It completely ended the Yankees 86 year dominance over the Red Sox. Although the Yankees won another World Series after this, they weren’t quite the same after this.
If you live in Massachusetts and have grown up as a Red Sox fan, even if you were not a huge baseball fan this year was the year of destiny. Everyone was watching and I am glad not for myself but for the fact that it happened on my fathers 50th birthday on October 27 2004.A life long Bostonian. I was 24 at the time by the way.
I am a Red Sox fan since 2008 when I had the opportunity to work in Boston and know all magic and history of this fantastic team. I love this game. Go RED SOX!!!
I barely watch baseball but this was the best moment in any Sports, EVER, still in my opinion. NOBODY in this world saw anything like it before. We all witnessed a moment in history and time.
I have to rewatch this once in awhile just to make sure it actually happened. I know we won three more after this, but this was so special for generations of us
Game 3: The Yankees eviscerated the Sox 19 to 8. The Sox were down 3 games to 0. One of the TV announcers stated "Now (the Red Sox') only chance will be to make history." Little did they know that the Sox now had the Yankees right where they wanted them. XD
Technically that win didn’t break the curse. Beating the Cards in the WS did. It’s exactly like the 1980 Miracle on Ice Olympic Hockey team. Everyone remembers the semi final game due to all the drama surrounding the match up and the odds facing the underdog.
I've seen a lot of unthinkable comeback stories but I don't think I'll ever anything like this ever again. In my own opinion this was the most emotional event I'll ever see again in my lifetime.
I'm 44 and am a Reds fan but the Red Sox breaking the curse the way they did is my favorite sports moment in my lifetime. Those days were great and the Yankees rivalry was at an all time high. The year before when Aaron Boone hit his HR that doomed the redsox. This Red Sox team was great and alot of fun to watch. Its crazy how the momentum or energy can seemingly affect everything. Once the redsox won game 4 it just felt like they had the momentum and you could feel the energy shift.

Any time I’m feeling low I put on the movie 4 Days in October. The Yankees always lose at the end of that film. That always makes me feel better. 😄
This was a pivotal moment as a kid to witness 🥲👏🏻
This year 2004 matches equally seeing my first son be born
This story never gets old!!!! Go Sox!!!
One of my favorite moments in baseball history. I have faith the Dodgers will win the World Series this year! Dave Roberts is managing well and he has the 2004 remembrance of this sweet victory!!
After the Red Sox struggled so much with the Yankees in the ALCS, they had ABSOLUTELY NO TROUBLE defeating the Cardinals in the World Series! Now THAT made me cry!
as a Cardinals fan i was so upset, but as a BASEBALL FAN its thee most MAGICAL season ive ever witnessed in my life!
