    For a sewing room, it looks more like an art room. It will give you much comfort when it's back to sewing. Just found you, like the video. Reminds me how cluttered my sewing area is too, with other stuff.

    YES! I think we all go through that! After a few projects behind me, I find it gets pretty cluttered. Thanks for the inspiration!!! We built my sewing studio 5 years ago and it's amazing how much that room has grown! LOL Some good, some not...I too LOVE to look at something and think I can repurpose it, which does tend to add to the clutter. Good luck to you and enjoy your clean space!!

    Hi April. It's so hard to declutter because we've spent our hard-earned money on these items. But decluttering makes us feel better. At one time, these items brought us joy, but if you can pass them on to someone else, they can create joy for them as well. Another content creator on RUclips is Karen Brown. Her channel is called: Just get it done quilts. Every January for the past few years, she does a 21 day challenge to clean up our sewing areas. You accomplished a lot in just one hour - so bravo to you. You know what they say: How do you solve the elephant in the room, one bite at a time.

    • @sewandquiltwithaprilsawtelle
      @sewandquiltwithaprilsawtelle  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for commenting. I know her channel but I’ve never watched the challenge. I think I’ll check it out. I realized that after I finally started to let go of a few things in that video it just started to get easier. It was rough at first though for sure. I cant believe how little stuff I put back in that cabinet…..It felt really good. …I’m really looking forward to the next declutter.
      Thank you for watching!😊❤️

      Hello, I feel for you because I am the same way,I have so much stuff, always planning to give some away but never do, I have many things in original shipping boxes that I never opened, I don't want to do a garage sale because I can't seem to sell it for few dollars when I paid a lots for some items, I even found a cricket and a Gemini unopened I am not into scrapbooking anymore I am going to try to sell one I will see, I am quite upset at myself for purchasing and not using, I think I could have bought myself a brand new car with all the money I spent, I just finished organizing my craft room but I left lots of things in the garage shelving and labels them, good luck, I know you can do.

    I belong to a weekly craft group. I try to take things to other crafters in our group as I come across them. The daughter of one group member works with rehab and assisted living residents. I give the majority to her. She sends me a photo of the stuff they make every so often. Such a simple act brings so many smiles. 🙂

    Thanks for the video and added inspiration! I just gifted a large garbage bag of machine embroidery thread that was gifted to me, but my machine didn't like it. I also am unloading 3 dozen pasta jars that filled my lazy susan. Up for sale is my first generation Cricut and accessories, old ceiling fan blades I'll never repurpose, a neat wooden bucket, small decorative window shutters and my grandkids' crayons, colored paper, construction paper and color books. That was about an hour of work. I also sorted the mess on my cutting table and moved it to make a path. A great way to end the weekend!

    I am starting a "no buy" until I have my stash down to a manageable size.... once upon a time, I loved whatever materials I purchased, so I need to let them become finished projects for the recipient to love. When I no longer have enough to make a complete project, I get to shop again 😊

    Hi! For the umpteenth time I just decluttered BUT this time I did “I need”, “don’t need” , “give away” piles. It has worked so far - still need to weed through areas. What got me going SERIOUSLY WAS THAT I could Not find a quilt kit I bought to make for my graduating granddaughter! I was sewwww disappointed with myself that I I cried. I have now started it and she will get a well-earned gift from her Quilting Nana! GO DO IT, GIRL! Thanks for your sharing!!😅

      Those are great tips. I had a friend’s quilt she left here for me to long arm for her, I haven’t got to it, but I panicked because it took me 10 minutes to find it the other day. Having to look for things is not fun when everything should be right in it’s own home. I really hope I can figure it out too. Thanks for sharing,😊❤️

    What if you had some bigger vertical storage like old china cabinet or tv condole. Second hand from family or repurposed from elsewhere in your home. You can get frosted cling for the class. They hold a lot of supplies. Dressers also hold lots of fabric. Thank you for showing what a real sewing room looks like. I always have a creative tornado or clean room. Nothing inbetween. 😂

    The problem with creative people is they have many dimensions. Their head is always creating ideas for them to do. Everything I look at seems to have a purpose for me and it's very hard to get rid of stuff that I love. There's just not enough time in the day to do all the things I want to do in my lifetime😊

    Decluttering is a life-time mindset. It’s not a one and done. I consider it a hobby. I have to think of it this way because I have hoarding and over buying tendencies. My mom and my sisters are all like this. It seems to be in our DNA. I keep a large, standing laundry basket in the corner of our guest room and we throw things into it EVERY week. We make many trips to the local thrift store each year. Once you start getting rid of your expensive stuff, it really make you question on what you buy in the future. Luckily my husband is not an over buyer or a hoarder so he keeps me accountable. We usually buy used stuff so it’s cheaper and easier to declutter when it’s no longer useful.

    I am culling my stuff, if I passed away I would not want my kids to waste months of their lives sorting my stuff. I told them to get a skip in and dump the lot. I give them anything they like now if I have it hanging around, why wait until death to give something away. My kids had to take all of their possessions once they had settled into their own homes. We are delusional thinking that we are going to use everything up.
