      Very safe way to approach handling a- let me remind you- HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR SPEAKER. They did it like that so they could hitch it on to the platform as gently as possible. I don’t see why it’s a bad technique

      @@elstovon Because it is a 100k speaker is why their approach was really poor. The stand should have been vertical and they should have lowered it down with one person guiding from below. Simple, straight forward. They risked scratching the bottom attempting to line up horizontally from a very unstable approach.

      It looks that's way at first. But, truthfully, they're prioritizing the center of gravity over ease of placement. This makes it safer, but it also stabilizes the process that it can take a bit less energy just over a longer time.

      16k went to an artist to design the shape around the speakers. 1k went into the speakers themselves and 3k went to a color psychologist to choose the best color to embody the nautilus theme and help people relax while listening to the speaker. The other 80k are wrapped in the other 4 nautilus speakers that they dropped trying to stand up through other various means.

      Trying to piece together oval object sideways with hard base and turning them together is childish. Or people who have never moved a piece of furniture. There is absolutely no need to have a third person moving the other piece.

    As someone who used to be an art handler and had moved many pieces worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, I can confidentially say they did a dangerously horrible job of moving that lol
    Edit: To the people asking why. First off none of them are wearing gloves, this makes slips much more likely. One guy is even wearing a watch. If your hand happens to slip while wearing watches it can heavily damage the piece. Secondary, they decided to install the piece to the base sideways. Nothing inherently wrong with that but they made it much more unstable and complicated. Lastly, they dragged the base of the piece against the stand while rotating it, potentially damaging the piece.

But you are right, I think they released these back in 1993. It has decent reviews, but nothing that would motivate me to pay that kind of money. I would rather go with KLH if I was spending that kind of money!

    15 years ago I was at a B&W dealer, and one of the salesman said the highest-end 800D at the time arguably sounded just as good as the Nautilus, and was less than half the price.

      The have mount clips that got to be inserted a certain way. so if you think you could just dropped the speaker on the base vertically you’d be in for a world of trouble as soon as a slight breeze hits it
