Andrew, this is a stunning work. I recently was visiting the national gallery in London, this painting is reminiscent of the height of the 19th century realist painting. The impasto of the sheep in the foreground reminds me of a nativity scene as would have been done by an old master. The mood of the composition is what sets this apart from your other works. Lord knows you can do details, and the exercises to loosen up have also been great. But this painting is transcendent. It’s simply moving. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Andrew, after watching your video, Landscape Essentials, and you have to watch and observe to come to any conclusion, I have found that you are not only an excellent painter and professional; your are one of the most knowledgeable, observant concerning what people NEED... to realize when trying to paint, and understanding HOW TO CLARIFY WHAT ONE NEEDS TO KNOW to accomplish those particular skills!!! Some just want to boast and make money; I see that you wish to impart learning and that makes you the professional that you are! Thank you Kindly!

there is something powerful and magical about "block in" mid-stage of the painting, as well as the sketch. it holds more mystery than the final stage i think. I do love the final painting, but your loose brush marks, lack of detail, and muted colors at the beginning are beautiful just as well.

A true master at such a young age. My problem has always been doing a quick painting or plein air, even in studio quick paintings and then having the interest to use it to make a larger more refined version. Once I finish the quickie, I either like it as a painting or move on to something else. I totally lose interest in making it into another painting. Does anyone else have this problem?

Andrew, your landscape paintings are stellar. As you zoom in to show the details, for example on those sheep, it is utterly jaw dropping to see how those light, seemingly random brushstrokes, create such engaging realism.
