I love that you speed up your painting while explaining what you do over the video. Other painters can show every brush stroke in real time and it's hard to stay awake- but you have just the right amount of energy! You truly know how to teach on video. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
Andrew you read my mind!! These loose brush strokes are what I'm aiming to achieve...to get away from the tight tense detail that holds me down. I really like this new loose style you are going for....not so photographic perfect......way to go! Look forward to more 'loose' tutorials.
This painting tutorial is fantastic, too. I'm too old to be able to learn that much and not hoping 10% to achieve of your skill in this very life. However, it is relaxing with awe to watch you paint and the end picture!! Thank you so much from my heart!!
I have one of those brushes , the tes . its one of my favorite brushes ! The difference it makes using a good brush , you get a way better painting , they work with you not against you . Rosemary brushes are the best brushes you can buy , you can tell how much great work and pride they take in making their brushes! So thrilled I found this company .💖💞💝
I am taking notes as you speak ..and realized what I need is a transcript of the entire video !! Always, eagerly waiting for the newest videos, LOVE your work!!! Thanks!
I can just feel your love for the paint....and how fabulously the rich colors apply with your "Tisch" brushes! Thanks for teaching, Andrew! You are the best!
Hey Andrew. Welcome back :-) Thank you for making us videos once again. I see the move to the south has inspired a loose style of painting. Its awesome - I like both your new and older styles, each holds their own weight. :-) Love seeing you out doors and so happy!
I ordered my first dagger brushes from Rosemary& Co. This video and the brushes came while I was out of town and I actually savored the video to watch when I got home and could relax. Now to go and do some experimenting with my two new daggers. Thank you Andrew for the little spots of humor in your video, perfect.
Andrew, love this video! Like you I paint realistic, almost photorealistic, but every once in a while I like just making loose brush strokes in the style of Monet. Your informative and detailed descriptions of your painting plans, your color mixes, your approach to the composition, make your videos an exceptional teaching moment. Thank you.
I kept going back to your technique in mixing colors for a landscape. Thank you, Andrew. I even ordered those Tisch brush. Although I am using acrylic, I still watch and learn from your videos, especially the golden ratio. Keep sharing.
Hi! I'm a new painter and stumbled onto your excellent videos. The dragon - awesome! Alien sheep-napping - even better! I'm a horticulturist and I always tell new staff that while we work really hard, our work should also be fun. Thanks for sharing that bit of fun, humor, curiosity, and passion that every craftsperson should have. As a beginner it's easy to become frustrated and you've reminded me that painting is an enjoyable process that, with lots of practice, will improve with time. I also used to fence so of course I ordered some dagger brushes - watch out, canvas! Again, thanks for sharing your passion and knowledge! Doing these videos must take a lot of work, aside from producing the paintings themselves. Much appreciated!
Gorgeous lighting in this painting and perspective as flawless as ever. Loving the looser style, shows off your brushwork skills. Best video yet!....including creepy skull bottles!!
I like you sense of humor coming through, it is beautiful. I bought your brushes and love them. I was hooked on filberts (-and modified filberts) but now see the beauty of the dagger. Thanks!
Of all of your paintings, this one is my favorite. Your experiment with less detail and more attention to brush strokes was a huge success. I would love to see more like this!
We have a company here in he U. S. that sells Rosemary & Co brushes. I have almost all their brushes. Watching your brushstrokes helps me to learn how to use them, thanks for sharing your expertise!
My Tisch daggers just showed up and I can't wait to use them. These are really beautiful brushes. I was surprised how large some of them are. This isn't a dinky little set. Very substantial and a great range of sizes. Thanks Andrew! I'm really happy to have these and appreciate seeing how to use them in this and other of your awesome videos. I also really appreciate you outlining your colour mixing. So helpful!
Awesome video and skills. Your hiperrealistic work is also stunning, but the loose brushwork broadens a lot your scope and with this you demonstrate how complete you are. This brushstroke has a lot of character. Simply great! Thanks for inspiring us.
The close-up brushwork and detailed color mixing explanation are some of the reasons why I keep coming back and re-watching these videos. Pick up and learn something you missed the last time. Every time I watch your videos, I'm surprised these are free. To support a fellow artist, I'd pay for access to this kind of content.
This is awesome. I find it fascinating how the human eye can play tricks and fill in whats not really there. One of my favorite paintings i have done is with loose brush work and froma distance it looks incredible. Thanks Tisch! lol
Thank you Andrew, it’s about time you get your own signature brushes. I have a set of rosemary &co but your brushes i’ve Been waiting for and will order ASAP. I’ve only been painting for 3years but was try to paint like you, very detailed but people were saying that it looked like photos which made me feel I can only copy. Your loose brush strokes so much make sense. Thank you for sharing and awesome painting.
Thankyou Andrew for your brilliant videos. You are so talented, an amazing artist. I am an artist myself but have bad bouts of serious depression and I struggle to pick up my paintbrush. Watching your videos really helps to inspire me to get painting again with fresh ideas. Thankyou. X
Amazing Andrew. Love your work and appreciate hugely how you share and give so much of your technique. Personally believe that sharing talent truly benefits ... the world (!) or at least anyone who is interested in learning! Amazing, many, many thanks indeed for such brilliant tutorials.
Thx again Andrew. Been hanging around for the next video. Love your humor.definitely getting myself the Tisch!! Cant wait to experience them. You truly are a master. More please!!!!
I love this painting style you have in this video. By painting a little more impressionistic and leaving some brush marks, you do put in more in the painting in terms of the feel and the experience you had in this place. For me the most beautiful paintings have this fine balance of detail and loose brush marks, specially in landscape paintings. I hope one day i can see your work in person.
I was just on the Rosemary & Co website before watching this where I saw these brushes and went "NO WAY!?" Love this technique because I too get stuck in the detail and that often gets me discouraged as a beginner. Thanks so much for explaining things so it's easy to follow and understand.
Outstanding as always Andrew, fascinating to see the use of stand oil and a bit of terps as a medium. Much respect mate, congrats on the new line of brushes!
This was also a fun project to watch Andrew. Thanks so much for all of your hints. It's really great to find Aussie artists who excel at their art...you are the best! Easy to watch, easy to listen to and easy to learn from...I hope :)
Loved watching you wield the dagger (brush, that is)! Will order some brushes and give them a try. I like your looser strokes and agree with you that they give the viewer a richer experience.
ordered 2 Tisch brushes through the USA distributor… excited. Loved seeing what you can do with these brushes. I loved the video and the way the light splashed down on the sheep and pasture.
I’ve been so intimidated of landscapes for a long time, you’ve really helped me expand my horizons and experiment different styles and I am extremely grateful 🙏🏻
your loosening is beautiful... I love the brushes too.... love the colors your described to get depth.. I found doing a few abstracts loosens my attachment to illustrative detail.... thanks for being a brilliant painter and teacher.... love it... Dx
Man you got me cracking up here, you're too funny!🤣😂 I love this new approach you're adopting, I personally prefer a painting that is realistic enough that you recognize at first glance what the subject matter is, but looking up close certainly reads as a painting! That's the way I like to paint, since I'm just starting to develop my style I call it eclectic - enough detail, but plenty of personal expression! Regardless of which style you do go forth with - you are my favorite painter, you work with passion, integrity and individualism, so my dear sir LOOSE away!! Side note, this past week was my first as an art student and one of the professors handed a questionnaire asking who was our favorite painter, mine Andrew Tischler!! If they did not know you on this neck of the woods, they will now! Warm regards!
Love all your videos Andrew. Those brushes are amazing. I plan on ordering them! Love the loose strokes and your painting is awesome! Thank you for sharing!!
This video has helped me to loosen up and to get much more depth than I could have ever imagined thank you so much for sharing your great talent, I most certainly keep subscribing
This HAS to be one of my favorite videos! Love the loose style and the tips for correcting a painting if you're not happy with it. I can't wait to try all this! thanks Andrew!!!
Thank you Andrew for this lovely video and for sharing so much with us. Going to get some Tisch daggers for sure. Rosemary & Co are really super brushes.
I’ve been stuck on my landscape so I decided to watch your vid to get my mind right. Excellent work Andrew and thanks for all the effort you put into your videos. It’s been invaluable for me since I’ve pulled a Gollum and have been secluded from other painters who paint in my style
You really achieved that depth! I felt like I could take off running and just fly across that meadow with you. You have such a wonderful, natural instinct. What really blessed my heart, since I am a “fixer” kind of person myself, is that you weren’t fond of what you had put on that canvas first so you set out with abandon to improve this piece. And you did it! It went from being pretty darned good to being a stunning masterpiece. I was a little worried at first about that tree taking over the canvas but you gave it such a wonderful personality that it was perfect. Sheep are some of my favorite subject matter-I love painting them, too. I can’t wait to see what you are going to do next!!!
Just starting to learn oil painting. An initial tendency is to work towards producing a photo image. This is good and is beginning to expand my knowledge of form, colour and light in an image I can relate to. Your "loose" process gives a new dimension that I hope to be able to progress to. Thank you.
What you did with that dark tree in the front was amazing. The foreground technique clearly shows your thought process to create illusion in the mind of the viewer. Love this vid.
I noticed the brush you use the very first time I watched one of your videos and will get some. Wow, what a difference; that was very interesting and I'd love to see more like this, if possible. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed this video Andrew; thank you. I am trying to loosen up too and you showed some great brushstrokes and also colors for landscapes. I love the dagger brushes too as I always splurge when Rosemary and/or Symi are here in Scottsdale, AZ in January. It's great to see them and get new brushes to try. They are wonderful brushes and last a long time but who doesn't love new ones. Happy to see there are some styled just by you.
By far the best video yet!! And yes I can't wait for my long over due daggers to come in...its very hard for me to control highlights and not lose my focal point.. Lesson learned with this video!
What a brilliant collaboration! Those Tisch daggers are so versatile! Love the brush strokes you can produce with them. Can't wait to get some. Angled brushes just don't cut it. Love your new loose style too. Very atmospheric!
I guess I’m late in viewing this video especially considering when it was filmed. I am a beginner painter, but already I’m aware that to loosen up my painting style is essential. This video amuses me because I can see how difficult it is for Andrew to be a loose painterly artist. Since I am a hyper detailed person I understand the thinking process. Andrews attempt is quite lovely, but still compared to the expressionist artists of today, his painting is VERY detailed. But hey if that is his style, accept it and even embrace it. He’s a brilliant painter and the fact that he can put that much detail into a painting is amazing! Andrews work is ALWAYS amazing.
This was extremely helpful. I appreciate you explaining the specific characteristics you’re manipulating, like using a lighter tone/value or putting cool against warm to create contrast. I also appreciate that you explain the pigments you use in which spot and why. I’m subscribing and checking out your brush on rosemary & co!
Absolutely stunning painting. Love it, love, love the lighting. This one I'm going to have to watch more than once to really grasp. I'm so new to landscape painting (and a total "Little Miss Detail") this one just intrigues me. I can't say I always like the "non-detail" paintings, but this one just hits the nail on the head for me. Love your work always Andrew. Up until now, my favorite was the one with the skull you did a while back, now it has some competition! Thanks so much for these videos. I love your personality as well and you made me laugh out loud at one point on this one. Great stuff.
Andrews impressionistic style landscape creates a beautiful tapestry of colours that is in perfect harmony.I also painted with similarTish brush chisel shape.I couldn't find these brushes so I cut my own brushes with a scissors and walla I found the pointed shape
Another fascinating video, Andrew, thank you. It's so interesting to watch you expand your boundaries beyond what you're used to doing. I'd certainly call it a success. But then, I'm still struggling with mixing colors satisfactorily. I can never seem get saturation just how I want; it's either too intense or too dull. But I appreciate you sharing your amazing talent with us, THANK YOU!
Hi, Andrew !! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video !! I love your color combination and loose brush technic which puts me right into that peaceful paradise !!! I enjoy watching all your tutorial videos ! God Bless your artistic talent always...
Love your finished painting.... certainly a change form your photo realistic paintings which I have always loved, but like any paintings that have a loose style when you look from just slightly back, it seems all that detail is more than enough, still looking realistic enough, without looking like a photo, you will save heaps of time too! Get lots of time to fit in more commissions too ! Beautiful....I would love to be able to achieve your level of painting .....practice and practice ..... I have a long way to go ! Congratulations on another beautiful finished piece !
Great work, Andrew! I also changed to a fairly loose style after many years of detailed painting which I still do every now and then. Love your colours.

I love doing landscapes that way- with loose brushworks. I learned a lot. Thank you.
YES PLEASE CONTINUE TO EXPLORE THIS EXPRESSIVE STYLE, I think this one is my favorite and I love ALL your work.
Love the painting and the best is you blushing announcing "The Tisch!" :) Very adorable - haha .....

Andrew, can't thank you enough for sharing your art and your videos! Also love your wicked sense of humor, you always leave me with a smile.
Wow, thanks for explaining your colours! And using terms like tone, saturation, depth and temperature in context with your painting! So helpful!
I don't know if I learned more, or enjoyed watching more. Thank you.

Love the brushwork and choice of color.

You really got it! I love the amount of detail you put in your paintings, but I like the loose brush strokes better ; )
Great work, Andrew! I also changed to a fairly loose style after many years of detailed painting which I still do every now and then. Love your colours.
this is one of my favorite paintings of yours! Thank you for sharing.
Your style are amazing! Love this painting.
Really enjoyed this one and congratulations on those new brushes! The Tisch- - -why not- - -:)
