I have a 2006 Pontiac Solstice. The security system locked up. Nothing would work. I tried this method after reading it in a forum. I had no external power source. My battery died. And now the key was locked in the ignition and wouldn’t budge. So now. I couldn’t even put it in neutral and push it. I quit. Depressed and defeated. . Today. I watched your video. In it you said “ It WILL work. Just try it one more time. “ Such simple advice. But I tried it. One more time. And it fired right up!! I guess having it off the battery all night reset the codes. And when I jumped it. Everything came back on normally including the radio. So. Thank you. For the encouragement. Saved me.
After trying every other method I could find this one finally did the trick. My dash light wouldn't stay on once I inserted my key and it never blinked but I ran through this 10-minute cycle and on the third try my truck fired up without an issue. Huge thank you for the video

Just be awake, I’ve had this issue happened multiple times through out the year and was able to reset using the info on this video. Now I’ve tried it many times and it just won’t work. Bring it to a different dealer and have them look at it.
Thanks for the info. my key on time was 15-20 minutes between intervals. 2013 chevy express 3500 van- 6.0L engine-65K miles. cause of problem was 9 month old Interstate brand battery internal shorted . only DTC with my scanner was voltage threshold below 9 volts. Local auto repair shop estimate by telephone to start vehicle was $600. THANK YOU AGAIN.
I'm so desperate 😩 Thanks God I found your video. This is my last hope and one of my last 2 options 😅 I had to screenshot the instructions you just give here and I'll try it this week. I have a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse LS that doesn't want to start at all, no power no lights but battery is "good" maybe not fully charged by that time. So this happened afteri replaced a map sensor that wasn't compatible with my car and it was the only code on the scanner (3 different scanner) and I also replace the PCV hose that I heard it had an air leak, i also put some new ac filters and I checked all the fuses on both fuse boxes that it has. So my battery was disconnected (negative side) and I went to connect it back and turn on the car to check on the lights (check engine light) and then all those things came up on the screen talking about anti thief and low engine power, stabilitrac or something like that 😅and others that I can't remember right now. So I just know that after that it's not being working and of course I'm not a mechanic (but I love to learn how to fix my own car) Guess what? My husband got mad at me cause he thinks I broke the car 🙄😒 After that I had replaced the Ignition switch solenoid and the ignition switch that goes on the back and I was thinking on replace the ignition lock cylinder or the whole thing but I'm not financially stable for this days. I appreciate your hard work posting this treasure video with all of us that are being struggled with our car 😂 I really hope it works cause I don't have $700 to pay for the parts and technician. 😅 God bless you!
2009 Caddy dts. Nothing works until I turned the key to on, unplugged TWO fuses for ecm/ing and ecm// pcm. Waited ten minutes and then all three keys worked. Yaaaa, Happy Easter and help me pray for peace on 🌎😊
Just wanted to leave this note if it can help out anyone else. I have a 2013 Buick Enclave with the theft deterrent light on. I had changed the battery and everything worked fine until I inserted my second key that had been programmed with the last battery. I think it lost the programming to that key when i changed the battery. when I put the second key in to start the car nothing happened so of course i turned the key again...thereby signaling to the cars computer that someone was trying to steal the car. So my advice...reprogram any secondary keys before starting the car after changing the battery. Unfortunately this procedure did not work for me...BUT thank you Renegade Racing for posting. This is what worked for my 2013 Buick Enclave.....remove the key....disconnect the positive cable to the battery...insert key and turn to the on position(dont start position)..return to battery and connect positive cable....wait five minutes...start the car! When I did this..IT WORKED!!!!! GoodLuck

(My key fob is broken) it's risky but try having someone give you a jump lol I know the car heads are like alternator and electric computer whatever but hey it saves the day. This is actually the General Motors on board programming procedure. It takes a total of 30 mins. Turn the key on and leave it on the on position for 10 minutes and then the security light goes off you turn the key to the opposition and immediately turn it back on and the security light returns then you wait another 10 minutes and then you repeat one more time and after the third time it reprogrammed the key to the ECU

I have an easier way for you! While sitting in the car push the unlock button on the key fob, open the door then push the lock button down on the door then close the door... Now start the car 💯🙂

I did this with a new blank key. At first it would not crank and security would flash. After doing this it cranks over security light is gone but won't fire at all

2012 Chevy sonic , with anti theft light(key immobilizer light) on. My car won’t start, when I turn it over it makes this weird like humming sound. However my key works for everything else in the car but I don’t know what to do.
Ten minutes can be a long time, especially if there's an emergency. I'd rather have no theft deterrent system at all because this is just an issue waiting to happen. MUCH simpler to just have a hidden "kill" switch to prevent theft.
@@Anthony-eg7pw - Yes it did. It allowed me to get the truck started so that I could take it to the dealership. However, the problem was the key to the ignition. I needed a new key. I took it to the dealer and initially it would not "mess up" on them. Then when they tried to start it with the "bad" key it finally "locked up" on them and said "Service Theft Deterrent System". Keep up the good work!
This just happened to me about 3 days ago. Returned to van from Walmart, service theft deterrent system. I tried starting 4or 6 time and started . Battery wasn't low , so I'm puzzled why this happened.
I have a 2006 Chevy Malibu that the deterrent system device light remains luminated no matter how long I leave the Key turned to the on position. I am at my whit's end with this crap. I even had Locksmiths tell me how to program a key he cut for me, But all it will do is start and stay running for about 15 seconds and cuts back off and tried a number of other thing and nothing I do works. Now I pretty much have a car I paid a couple thousand dollars for I can't even get it crank and remain running. How can I bypass this Bullshit? Any information will be greatly appreciated very much.
Tom, great video. This worked for me for about a week. My 99 GMC Suburban gave me the flashing SECURITY light and the reset/relearn trick worked. Now it's dead in the driveway with the security on and never flashes... no matter how long you wait. I have a new battery and on a charger while I've been trouble shooting this issue. Any other suggestions I should try?
@@austinalbin5262 I ended up replacing the PAS module and then my mechanic reset the Anti-theft code the ECM (Computer) had. Also, one Anti-theft fuse was blown.
2012 buick regal the 4x door lock stopped the anti security lock from appearing but the car still wont start and the fob key still does not unlock or lock the doors
i have a 05 my light won’t turn off at all stays in even after waiting 20+mins changed the motor in it tho every since then it won’t crank and gas gauge don’t move either
@@StickShiftRacing moved the starter wire a while back and the gas gauge went up and trying to start it made it click would it be any of the starter wires? starter is good i’ve shorted across it and it cranks but don’t start cause of the lock icon thing
@@xTrillx run a jumper from the battery positive to the starter when that’s done hook up some jump cables to another running car and follow the procedure in the video
i have a 2009 pontiac g5 and i put a wiring under the hood to give more ground power for these vicheacles did that due to theft and then ecm went out oil substance was coming out the ecm cleanedeverything went got used one now no crank at all due to not reconizing my keys tore whole steering collum out can i cut the yellow wiring video i saw and do i have to unplug my battery.

My security light is never on ? So i dont know why i cant start it. ..i reprogrammed a different key fob to it buy now when i use the other key fob it the alarm would go off
What I did was hit the lock and unlock several times and take the key out hit the lock and unlock in the key fob insert key and boom truck fired up, I had my door open with the key in the ignition for a few minutes and for some reason service theft deterrant popped up.
so i am having an issue with my 2010 chevy suburban, it started not starting, so o would turn the key back off and trying turning it on and off a few times and then it would start. so i thought it was in the ignition switch i replaced that, and now i am having an issue of it will start but it won’t turn off with the key, i have to pull a fuse to get it to turn off. any ideas? my anti theft deterrent message did come on once but now is off. do i need to reprogram the key or something?? please help i am loosing my mind trying to figure this out!
So if it's theft then it won't even turn over? My mom's 98 Grand Am has sat in the yard without the battery because we put it into her newer car. Put a battery back in it after 5 months and it will crank but not start, no sound from fuel pump. Don't see any security light. Think it's the fuel pump.

@@dustinmiller4508 I've already decided this. It turned out that when I changed the battery in the car remote control, the tracks on the coil inside were damaged. Without this, the car did not recognize the key and nothing helped. soldering the board helped
Problem only started happening for me after jump starting another car, my mate accidentally touched both terminal together for a second of course causing a spark but obviously set off my system

@@StickShiftRacing yes I sent flagship 1 my Vin number when I purchased the ECM. When I connect to the ECM with Hp tuners using a bench harness It does show the correct Vin number

I tried Donniecreeks and it worked first time second time just disconnected negative battery cable for 10 seconds and car was running again.
I have a 2015 Sierra SLT with a brand new battery and this happened this morning for the first time in 2 years of ownership.

@@martincorrales4408 I noticed the cables connected to the battery were very loose. I tightened them and it fixed the issue!
I did this with a new blank key. At first it would not crank and security would flash. After doing this it cranks over security light is gone but won't fire at all

I can still start and run mine but it’ll go into engine power reduced mode. It started happening when I bought another lmm and switched keys by accident (yes both keys work in both trucks) would this help me out? Problem is I don’t know which key is which now

I have a 2006 Sierra Denali. Put it on jack stands and think it set off the anti theft system. The only problem I have is when I put the key in I don’t get a sound or a light at all. When I put jumper cables the horn starts going off. Any suggestions?

@@catchphillies sounds like a main relay or the main fuse at the engine is blown if there is no power on dash

I have a 2008 chevy impala. This did not work for me. My car is in park but on the dash it reads reverse. I have also tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting and i also tried the lock trick. Nothing is working. Can you please help
if it’s in reverse it will not start check the transcable on the trans it may have come off
I also already tried disconnecting the battery and draining any stored power left unhooked for 24 hrs tried again light still will not go off

What if your light will not go off. We lost our key I tried to start it by disconnecting the ignition harness and jumping the terminals. I set the security off. Now we have the new key made but cannot program it because the light will not go off

I have 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 my security light stays on even with I take key out of the ignition can't get it to shut off. Interior and headlights do turn on only hazards lights work. Only thing I can think of is a door actuator system thinks door is still locked. I need some help get pissed.

I had this problem and after replacing the battery everything works fine. When starting I was getting the Anti Theft pop up, heat wouldn’t work, wipers came on, hazards went on or it needed a jump start.
Mine worked fir a couple weeks and now it says low battery again. It won't start. My key fob has all the buttons pushed out.

I just keep turning the key back and forth , it always starts withing like 10 tries, 10 tries is far better than waiting 10 minutes per try

Ten minutes can be a long time, especially if there's an emergency.
I'd rather have no theft deterrent system at all because this is just an issue waiting to happen.
MUCH simpler to just have a hidden "kill" switch to prevent theft.

@@Anthony-eg7pw - Yes it did. It allowed me to get the truck started so that I could take it to the dealership. However, the problem was the key to the ignition. I needed a new key. I took it to the dealer and initially it would not "mess up" on them. Then when they tried to start it with the "bad" key it finally "locked up" on them and said "Service Theft Deterrent System". Keep up the good work!
This just happened to me about 3 days ago. Returned to van from Walmart, service theft deterrent system. I tried starting 4or 6 time and started . Battery wasn't low , so I'm puzzled why this happened.
I have a 2006 Chevy Malibu that the deterrent system device light remains luminated no matter how long I leave the Key turned to the on position. I am at my whit's end with this crap. I even had Locksmiths tell me how to program a key he cut for me, But all it will do is start and stay running for about 15 seconds and cuts back off and tried a number of other thing and nothing I do works. Now I pretty much have a car I paid a couple thousand dollars for I can't even get it crank and remain running. How can I bypass this Bullshit? Any information will be greatly appreciated very much.

Tom, great video. This worked for me for about a week. My 99 GMC Suburban gave me the flashing SECURITY light and the reset/relearn trick worked. Now it's dead in the driveway with the security on and never flashes... no matter how long you wait. I have a new battery and on a charger while I've been trouble shooting this issue. Any other suggestions I should try?

@@austinalbin5262 I ended up replacing the PAS module and then my mechanic reset the Anti-theft code the ECM (Computer) had. Also, one Anti-theft fuse was blown.

@@StickShiftRacing moved the starter wire a while back and the gas gauge went up and trying to start it made it click would it be any of the starter wires? starter is good i’ve shorted across it and it cranks but don’t start cause of the lock icon thing
@@xTrillx run a jumper from the battery positive to the starter when that’s done hook up some jump cables to another running car and follow the procedure in the video

i have a 2009 pontiac g5 and i put a wiring under the hood to give more ground power for these vicheacles did that due to theft and then ecm went out oil substance was coming out the ecm cleanedeverything went got used one now no crank at all due to not reconizing my keys tore whole steering collum out can i cut the yellow wiring video i saw and do i have to unplug my battery.

What I did was hit the lock and unlock several times and take the key out hit the lock and unlock in the key fob insert key and boom truck fired up, I had my door open with the key in the ignition for a few minutes and for some reason service theft deterrant popped up.

so i am having an issue with my 2010 chevy suburban, it started not starting, so o would turn the key back off and trying turning it on and off a few times and then it would start. so i thought it was in the ignition switch i replaced that, and now i am having an issue of it will start but it won’t turn off with the key, i have to pull a fuse to get it to turn off. any ideas? my anti theft deterrent message did come on once but now is off. do i need to reprogram the key or something?? please help i am loosing my mind trying to figure this out!
So if it's theft then it won't even turn over? My mom's 98 Grand Am has sat in the yard without the battery because we put it into her newer car. Put a battery back in it after 5 months and it will crank but not start, no sound from fuel pump. Don't see any security light. Think it's the fuel pump.

Hey man I’ve used this trick a lot on my 98 s10. It runs perfectly but it’ll do this almost once every week and it just started to do it more frequently. I let it sit for 10 minutes the security light goes off and boom it cranks but why does this keep happening? If you have any info I’d appreciate it thank you!
the signal from the key is going bad it’s got a transponder in it you’ll need to replace the key and have it programmed

I've already decided this. It turned out that when I changed the battery in the car remote control, the tracks on the coil inside were damaged. Without this, the car did not recognize the key and nothing helped. soldering the board helped
Problem only started happening for me after jump starting another car, my mate accidentally touched both terminal together for a second of course causing a spark but obviously set off my system

Hello I need help so badly!!! I have a 99 cadillac deville. I changed my battery and alternator. I try to start the vehicle it will not. Giving me theft system problem car may not start... i have done this method did not work. Key got checked says its reading 14 out of 15 in resistor so it's good. I did not have it connected to another vehicle for charge. Could that have an effect?? Some one please help

@@StickShiftRacing yes I sent flagship 1 my Vin number when I purchased the ECM. When I connect to the ECM with Hp tuners using a bench harness It does show the correct Vin number
