I actually had a hard time learning this one because the force of my front foot would negate the shove with my back foot. Then I tried 360 Flips and realized how easy Varial Flips are. So if anyone else has that problem then try and think of it as a Shove It and THEN a Kickflip instead of a Shove It and Kickflip at the same exact time. It's a pretty easy one.
I think either your timing was off or you weren't popping high enough before, because the varial kickflip to me definitely is a continuous motion of two feet doing a scoop and flick at exactly the same time. I've noticed it takes less of a shove it scoop and less of a kickflip flick to get a varial kick flip going actually compared to the two separate tricks it combines, because of how the two forces are applied simultaneously. I even think you can get away with barely even flicking if you wanted to, but it would result in a pretty slow kickflip rotation making it somewhat more likely you land primo or upside down. In order to keep it under you properly, you need to pop down pretty good, but I don't think a late kickflip is advisable as it creates a more vertical spin forcing you to jump much higher. Anyway, not really trying to argue, as with all of the skateboarding tricks, if it works for you, it works for you! More to say you may have solved a different problem.
Stephen Struble Doing this also helped me get higher boned kickflips. I would think of doing a rocket Ollie and then when the board gets at i good angle I slide my front foot
It so helps to look at you do it in slow motion like bro I was so pissed because I’d land varials and then I’d lose em bc idk where to flick but now Ik I gotta flick off the side of the board right above the wheel. Deadass thank you
I can't kickflip and I've been skating for years, it's not like I've never landed it because I have couple times, but I can't be consistent, but varial kick flips are easier for me I've landed them too, I don't really practice tho, I stick to heelflips
for me when i first tried kick flips soon after getting a consistent ollie i almost did a few varials but never got one cause the rotation was too slow and i wasn’t jumping very high
dude,i really like your tutorials, can you help me about a trick? i've been trying to 360 flip,i can flip it standing, but when i try moving it goes like a 36 shovet or a varial double flip ( yea )so please help and sorry for bad english
How you showed the one foot doing it to try it is how I learned to shove it. thats exactly how I learned. See what happens with one foot and then two and land it
I’m having a problem with to much toe flick and my board spins a double kick flip when I try to Variel flip just have to slow the flick now and I’ll have it
I have a problem with the back foot, even for a kickflip i have the right rotation of the board i catch it with my front foot but i can manage to put the back one on. I tried varial flip 2 days ago and surprisingly i learned the rotation very fast but i have the same problem. Any tips?
I can land a varial kickflip with one foot, but I can barely ever get a normal kickflip rotation. I can't do normal shove its either. I can only land Shove its fakie. When I try to do normal pop shove its I do a varial kickflip rotation.
my first trick ever was varial kickflip iam trys to learned kickflip but every time i did a varial kickflip idk iam so sad iam to bad for normal kickflip xd
@vlskate so I just started trying this trick and I'm fully committing it's just that the board will underotate and when I get the board to to land wheels up it's either I land one foot or the board shoots out just a couple inches in front of my feet is there any tips for keeping it under me?
I think I'd know if I'm doing inward heels bro haha. I'm just need to keep my board under my feet that's all, iv e improved the trick. thanks for trying to help homie👌
I can't seem to flick the board, all I get is a very high pop shove it. I am not great at kickflips but I do get the flip every now and then and land it. But for the varial my front foot just shoots out and nothing! Am I supposed to flick more straight forward? Problem is when I try that the board just shoots out in front of me.
I'm a biker/beginner skater and atm I can throw vflips and land them idk how, I can barely pop shuv but tell me to vflip and I'll pop one pretty good I heard its kinda bad to learn tricks before the fundamentals is it as bad ppl say?
+Saeed H i record with a mic. into a recording program and then import it into my video editor over the video and edit it all together so it matches up
It's not normal, lol, but not necessarily a problem. One thing is to be able to do a trick, other thing is to be consistent, execute it well, etc. I'm very sceptical of you kickflips if you can't Ollie, tbh. You should definitely learn them, though, as Ollies are still the mist useful trick there is, when we're not talking about flat ground skating, at least.
VLskate please help! I've been trying these for awhile the main problem I have is the board doesn't do the full 180 shuv rotation. I have pop shuvs down pat they are one of my best tricks but when doing these I just can' rotate em right I land some sketchy ones any advice?
it's hard to tell without seeing yours but i do know that if it's not getting the full roration, some of the rotation comes from kicking with your front foot. you still do a shove with the back foot and kickflip with the front, but you do have to kind of kick "into" your board to get it to rotate more
Can anyone help me? When I go to do one my front foot doesn’t connect or doesn’t get any friction which cause it to under rotate and doesn’t spin at all. Any can help
+Calvin Lee i almost think of them just like ollies. i focus mainly on popping down hard like i'm going to do a high ollie but i just give it a tiny amount of shove to rotate it
the pop from a pop shuvit is all in smashing your backfoot down and actually committing enough to jump high. I learned pop shuvits by doing them on a carpetboard first. It really helped me build my confidence. then i walked outside and landed it on a real board that same day. Just believe in yourself bud :)
Calvin Lee u have to pop hard on the tail..like u would do with a pop shuv it..but u pop it hard with control then jump higher...just do it your way and the way your comfortable with tour board
Dude this works! I had varials on lock forever, but lost them over time. Thanks for the tip. It was the one thing missing!
❤
I think either your timing was off or you weren't popping high enough before, because the varial kickflip to me definitely is a continuous motion of two feet doing a scoop and flick at exactly the same time. Would be helpful if I knew how to shove it I only know how to nollie shove and I don’t even know how to kick flip idk y I’m here lol
Not kidding, I don't know how to pop shove or kick flip and I am consistent with this trick
How???? What did you do to learn it?
damn shawty okay
Wow! Would you like a medal
I swear the same thing happened to me
@@lukeypham5969 why are you so pressed? lol
I learned varial flip first before kickflip
same
same bro

jake schleifer i randonly found u
Im actualy looking for vids to send u right nowbthats why im watching these
you just taught me how to switch varial flip and get my regular varial flips back thank youuu
It so helps to look at you do it in slow motion like bro I was so pissed because I’d land varials and then I’d lose em bc idk where to flick but now Ik I gotta flick off the side of the board right above the wheel. Deadass thank you
This is a very Underrated trick. They're even better fakie.
Thanks to vlskate I learned varial literally right after watching this video. Thank you so much vlskate
“Combination of a Kickfilp and a pop shove it” ok so two tricks I can’t do imma just go back to practicing Ollies
Got these down more than normal kickflips! Thx, man! 🖤🖤🖤
I can't kickflip and I've been skating for years, it's not like I've never landed it because I have couple times, but I can't be consistent, but varial kick flips are easier for me I've landed them too, I don't really practice tho, I stick to heelflips
God How can you heelflip.... Wtf
- Static Heel flips are really just ollies. Of you can ollie that's all you need to do a heelflip.
well...the truth is sad but, don’t watch RUclips videos,go practice and you’ll find the way
Thanks god
Matthew Selby not really. For most people heel flips are harder than kick flips.
I just landed a varial kickflip yesterday, it was so much fun.
You deserve waaaaaay more subscribers bro! love your tutorials :)
I don't care what anyone says. If this trick Is done right, it looks amazing
i feel like i know this mans porch better than my own
Same lol
by far best tut channel
watched the vid and the day after i started to practice it and landed it the same day so got it in one day, thanks to the vid🤓👍🏼
Should u learn this trick before learning a treflip?
But tbh it throws u off for a tre
yes
A treflip is kinda Just a double varialflip.
@@frAgileCS nah actually thats a nightmare flip a tre flip is a 360 varial flip
I’m learning Tre before
10,000 subs congrats I'm so happy
I almost did varial flip when i was learning shove it.
for me when i first tried kick flips soon after getting a consistent ollie i almost did a few varials but never got one cause the rotation was too slow and i wasn’t jumping very high
Same😂
It was probably a pressure varial
I love how at the beginning his shoes were ripped and then he got new ones

Thanks for making this I've been needing it
I landed the varial flip today and gets this recommend lol
I just landed my first varial today :)

i've been trying to 360 flip,i can flip it standing, but when i try moving it goes like a 36 shovet or a varial double flip ( yea )so please help and sorry for bad english

I learned a varial kickflip today
Gawd you are good
Can you make a how to 180 video please? Great videos btw and congrats on 10k!
Thank you a lot I just learned it!
Thanks bro you made me land it 👌🏼💯👊🏼🤝🏼
When i do varial, i cant get my board to rotate enough and only half way spins under my feet.....anything im not doing right for the flick?
BeASt MoOs3 maybe try flicking harder or straighter out
Dingleberry ok thnx for the advice my duude
Was trying this today and I think I’m getting it but one fun thing I did was an accidental Ollie south
i learned how to tre-flip before a varial
This day i fix landed varial klip its amazing for me
I use to be able to land them easily but when I try them now [5months later] I just launch my board away when I stick them
Same
I can do the full varial flip but I can barely flip the board when I try to do a kickflip
How you showed the one foot doing it to try it is how I learned to shove it. thats exactly how I learned. See what happens with one foot and then two and land it
Do I need pop shoves down really well?
You should make a varial heel video
I already know varial but I’m still watching
I watched this and then I went out to try it and landed it let‘s goo
Omg thanks u actually read my request thanks bro.💯
Almost to 10k 🎉
+Bri Duran i'm sittin here refreshing it waiting for those 2 more subs haha :)
+VLSkate you did it 😱🎉
bri duran almost 90k 😱😱😱😱
3 years later,
358K
Update, 486k
My problem is I can’t get a full flick because of the shove motion, causing the board to dodge my front foot flick
It took me hours to land my first one today cus I ride 9”75 boards so it was difficult
9.75?! Sheesh. Get an 8.25 if you can, it’ll be so much easier
bro that's GIAGANTIC
Damn bro you built like bigfoot?

Great tutorial!
I always have a problem with either not jumping forward or not getting enough flick. I don't know what to do.
Try adding more pop.
Please do one on varial heel flips 🙏🙏
Learned kickflip first and had a really hard time with this one. The flick is more down like a fakie flip. Keep skating y’all
Congrats for 10k!!! How do you like your new deck? :)
Petr Karasek bru he didnt even read yo comment lmao
My board keeps landing gear behind me like only my back foot catches it. Any tips?
make your weight equal through the whole trick
How come as soon as I do the scoop I don’t have enough time to flick , or my my foot doesnt even touch the board when I try to flick.
awesome
so i learned how to kickflip yesterday should i practice on my kickflips or move onto varial kickflips
I'm at the exact same moment and I think you shoud practice kicklips for a while and then move on to varials
I did this before shove it pop shove and kickflip
If i can kickflip, i can varial kickflip
Great video! The music sounds like Dark Souls 2
But me when i varial flip I do a kickflip but i just turn my shoulder and it do super clean varial
Really good video
I have that toy machine board it’s beautiful
is it better to learn this stationary or while moving?
Moving will save you the time of learning it twice. You can also try and catch with the front foot to get used to it.
@@kanabaki thanks :))
very well done, congratulations on 10,003
You have a beautiful varial btw
I’m having a problem with to much toe flick and my board spins a double kick flip when I try to Variel flip just have to slow the flick now and I’ll have it
That Kickflip is nice
Just landed a varial flip in like a few hours.
I have a problem with the back foot, even for a kickflip i have the right rotation of the board i catch it with my front foot but i can manage to put the back one on. I tried varial flip 2 days ago and surprisingly i learned the rotation very fast but i have the same problem. Any tips?
Hey I used to have that same ATM deck
I learned varialflip before a kickflip haha
Tomcat I’m bout to do the same
Same here
I learned a inward heel before any other flip trick
I can land a varial kickflip with one foot, but I can barely ever get a normal kickflip rotation. I can't do normal shove its either. I can only land Shove its fakie. When I try to do normal pop shove its I do a varial kickflip rotation.
I can get the shuvit but my board only rotates halfway

Haydog McDrizzle put your foot more to the front
my first trick ever was varial kickflip iam trys to learned kickflip but every time i did a varial kickflip idk iam so sad iam to bad for normal kickflip xd
What do you put more weight on, the front or back foot? Or do you stay centered over the board?
Try to stay centered over the board. Imagine popping an Ollie doing a pop shove it only your flicking foot is place more towards the edge.
Hmm i think i'll try this trick and maybe i'll get it in one day
Arizona Eagle Yea man this trick is pretty easy when you got both Kickflips and Pop shuvs on lock, I landed my first variap under an hour.
2 year update, did u learn it 😂
Ahora ya me sale 👌
